As a company you can't really assume all your players or customers are going to be like that. Besides – while we may be okay with proxying I think we both just prefer to use the "correct" miniature. If this means that we'll get some neat new knight models I'm all for it too.
That does make sense. I couldn't see CB getting rid of their new pilot models especially so soon after they released them. Oh so it is an old Interventor sculpt and not the box set with male & female + fast pandas? This means that the only way to get this starter set models is going to be buying a big box. Not to mention it becoming the only source for a Devil Dog. The thing that has me most worried is the USA starter pack. If I want to expand my Rifle Grunts, Foxtrots, Marauders, Minutemen, then I have to buy the Army box after September rolls around. This is going to be problematic for people you want to use parts from these 6 particular models. I think someone like @ShaeKonnit will have to split a couple of these large boxes over the years ahead considering it will be the only source with these 10 models left. I would rather CB left the 6 model starter pack at least for players/people to buy as it is cheaper than shelling out for the larger army box.
The only times I've -thought- about buying it was when it was discounted down to like $20. And even then, the USARF Army Pack was usually discounted or the Marauders or the Grunts or something for Tunguska.
I've liked the smaller starter since it was possible to grab Grunts, Foxtrots, Marauders & Minutemen for cheap compared to the Army Box. And since I like to do conversions that was a boon for my hobby needs. I guess I'll keep a look out for any USA starter packs at a good price. Once September comes it is going to be difficult to acquire the box after a short while.
I think you guys forget how cheap the USARF dudes are... you almost have to buy the small starter to go with the large one so you can field all those sweet sweet inferior infiltration grunts.
Fair, though I figure doubling up on the SWC box makes a lot of sense. Double Sniper rifles, double lsg + HFT, etc.
Neither the starter , or the big box comes with the Inf Inf Grunt loadout. Plain Rifle grunts just aren't that useful.
And I think you forget how expensive starter sets are. $47.99 MSRP(commonly down to $38) vs $100ish(down to $80 commonly) for the same 6 PLUS a Devil Dog(the Chain Rifle profile no less, otherwise at $39.99 MSRP) and Maverick w/ BSG(would probably be $30ish solo) and $10 scenery pack. So $38+$30+$25(assuming discounted prices)=$93ish for the same stuff, minus the scenery, if bought separately.
It would be nice to get updated models, but hopefully they do not lose their dynamic poses if we do. Too many static knight models.
Bets on MO or NCA getting the axe for Sval. At this point, MO still has a lot that is ancient and so does NCA. MO has gotten some resculpts while NCA has gotten some incidental resculpts from other armies notably devas, fusiliers and orcs. Losing NCA models would hurt vanilla more so than losing the couple old knights, crusader bros and starter box.
I hear a lot of talk about PanO having a faction cut to make space for Sval - was there some statement from CB that I missed about limiting the number of sectorials? Why couldn't they just add another sectorial on top of the ones already in the game?
