I'm a pretty new player and I recently picked up Zoe and Pi-Well for my fledgling nomad forces and while tinkering on the Army app I've noticed something that surprised me. I had assumed that Pi-Well was essentially a more capable zondbot, and that Zoe would be able to repair stuff through him, but I noticed that he has G: Remote Presence rather than G: Servant. I presume this means that he in fact generates and uses orders normally, rather than piggybacking on Zoe's orders, and that he therefore can't be used to repair through. Is this the case or have I misinterpreted things? As a follow up question if Pi-Well can't act as a zondbot, can I assign a separately purchased zondbot to Zoe to repair stuff through?
Pi-well is a separate trooper that you buy at the same time. He's a super-Stempler Zond rather than being a super-Zondbot. And yes, you can buy Zoe an actual Zondbot.
ijw covered it. You can only add them to your army as a pair, but they generate 2 orders (one each as normal) and if Zoe dies Pi-Well is still active and free to keep fighting. Most opponents who haven't faced the duo think they're a g:synch troop and will try to kill Zoe to deactivate Pi-Well. Keep her defended and use a zondbot to do the actual engineering. Don't forget that she can use supportware to boost Pi-Well and watch out for killer hackers!
I read all the time that Zoe/Piwell have great abilities but are on the expensive side so they do not make it in many lists. For which ITS missions would you consider them worth it? (Vanilla or Bakunin) Gesendet von meinem Nokia 6.1 mit Tapatalk
In general, this kind of unit is chosen in LI lists due to their multirole aspect. When you take Zoe, you have a Hacker and an Engineer at the same time so no need to take an other regular HD. And Pi-Well is a Stempler on steroïds, able to win FtF a regular Stempler wouldn't while still doing the same core job. It is a really powerful unit against light to medium armored troopers.
I'm always afriad to pull the trigger on taking them. Pi well is and exemplar of awesome. But Zoe is a wip14 hack that's really expensive. She seems sooo vulnerable to khds I'm afraid to take her. I'd be stoked if there were either a non hacker just an engineer version of her, or if she costs slightly more but had a decent upgrade program, stop doesn't really save her bacon. They do cover nearly all the classified objectives on their own so they're a good choice for highly classified.
I find I end up hiding Zoe most of the time, but Pi-Well can be a beast. Since he is a repeater you can always have Zoe throwing Assisted Fire on him. Triangulated Fire + Assisted Fire (just for the Shock ammo) + TO + Cover is fun, + White Noise if you have an Interventor/Rev. Moiria on hand, very situational but fun.
Zoe/Pi-Well are one of the best character buys in Nomads, IMO. You get 2 specialists that can fullfill 3 roles. Agreed, as a fighter, Zoe is weak, but Pi-Well is a beast.
giving Pi well assisted fire (Which I hope disappears in N4) can ruin a lot of peoples day when he triangulated fires on a model, like phoenix for example, from across the table imposing a -12 tagging them then putting them down without triggering NWI. He can also sensor in the mid field to then clear out camo specialists (like the dreaded KHD), press buttons and be a proper pain in the ass to shift when he is in suppressive fire. Stop! is great to leverage in ARO if you have the repeater coverage, or offensively if there is a viable target through Pi-well's repeater, in addition to bringing the support suite of the HD and authorizing rems. Yes she is vulnerable to enemy hackers but she can repair herself if she gets Iso'd, and is probably not going to hold up against an enemy KHD, but if you haven't claimed info war superiority as a Nomad player you have probably screwed up somewhere. Also did I mention she is a WIP 15 engineer?
Pi-Well in Suppression Fire is one of the reasons why I always try to bring some form of grenades, lets see him dodge on a 4!
Pi-Well rules but the sun has set really hard on Zoe... she is like the freest kill in today's meta, like the epitome of someone you'd want to zap with a hacker/AD/impersonator/literally anything. It's disappointing and I rarely run them anymore.
As others said, piwell is a beast, our best remote of all, and a good specialist. Zoe has the advantage of being our only HD with no SWC, but she is just a little better than an alguacile hacker, but not much. A clockmaker with HD that swaps her BTS for an extra hacking program The cost of zoe is high, but the cost lf piwell is low, they compensate somehow
It's something like: Zoe & Pi-Well - 47 pts Clockmaker & Stempler 35 points What do you get for the 12 point delta? A regular hacking device with no SWC on Zoe and ODD on Pi-well. Zoe trades 3BTS for Stop and Pi-well trades climbing plus for S2, which I consider a wash. Def. better than their non-character counterpart but I'm not exactly clamoring to run a clockmaker and a stempler, sooo
It’s always interesting to see how different people view things. I take Zoe and Pi-Well every chance I get. They are the nomad equivalent of Bit and Kiss and do just as much work, albeit in different ways. They are useful in pretty much every mission and will win games all on their own. Between the two you have hacker, engineer, and forward observer. You have D Charges, supportware, and ODD for firefights. Pi-Well in cover will survive most face to face rolls against non- msv shooters and then you can Triangulate fire back to destroy whatever shot you. He also has a smaller profile than the stempler so he’s easier to sneak around the board without being spotted. You are paying for utility, and that’s not a bad thing.
Zoe + Pi Well used to be great with the old clasified deck (when they could do most of it themselves), when ITS was more speciaist focussed, and before khds. Pi Well is still good and Zoe could be except shes expensive and squishy with basically a sign on her head saying 'khd plz kill me' with her 0BTS. And Pi Well being a repeater which khds can hack through to her from anywhere without penalty is basically the sign. Khds shouldnt ignore firewalls.
You can. You're investing a lot in that basket at that point though, having already spent 47pts without even buying a khd yet. Definately can work though, especially considering Pi Well has the sensor to reveal camo hackers. He is vulnerable to them too though. Doesnt change the fact they've generally suffered a fair bit continuously from game changes since release. I mean Pi Well used to have an ODD field in n2! They've gone from game changers themselves to something you can maybe make work with some effort.
I've found while playing Bakunin that Zoe works best as dedicated support for a Reaktion Zond with one or more other Hackers in the list, preferably a Custodier HD+. Being able to buff and fix a Repeater-less bot with the same troop is useful, and I find opponents really don't want to challenge me with a KHD via Repeater while facing down Zoe, a Custodier HD+ and several Camo Tokens in a Hacking war- KHDs are usually on precious Infiltrating Specialists that opponents don't want to risk unless they deny you an equally useful capability, and redundant Hacking means you're usually winning any such exchange. Pi-well definitely pays his own way by winning gunfights, completing objectives and projecting that extra-scary Nomad Hacking Area wherever you need it.
