They are judiciary forces, not military police. Technically they are a civilian law enforcement organization. I can only assume that IA has it's own law enforcement organization.

Actually, this is part of IA fluff from 3rd offesive:

Each division of the StateEmpire Army has an Imperial Service company incorporated into its organizational and operational structure, as well as independent units, assigned corps, and specyfic armies. Invariably, as the upholders of discipline and regulations, the Imperial Service's members operating in the rearguard are famous for being a gang of unforgiving disciplinaries with a bad attitude and few admireres aminy the soldiers.

On the other hand, members of the Imperial Service who are integrated into the rank of an army division or corps take on the duties of the Military Police in combat deployment. This work includes overseeing compliance with discipline and bylaws as well as preventing any criminal activity. It also handles general security affairs, such as patroling sensitive areas, counter-terrorist operations, supervising prisoners, and convoy security. For these assignments, the divisional IS agents operate on the front line, sharing the risks with the regular troops.

These from the same people that recruits a entire corps of soldiers from "the worst criminals and most undisciplined people on each port"? One would say every Hulang should be dead by now or would have deserted.

I’d be hesitant to want Yu Jing to have everything. I think factions need to be different. Im happy without all tools, just most :)

I would like our martial artists back. Hell, I would want anything that gives YJ some character/niche

I don't mind the idea of Yu Jing having access to everything, but it being a lower level than other factions have access to.

Yu Jing seems to be a jack of all trades, master of none which I quite like. We're reasonably good at everything.

I stand corrected, but that's still not the Invincible Army structure, that's the State Army. When we play IA, we don't play an army deployment complete with logistics structure etc, we play a small force selected exclusively from the Invincible Army members. If you go Invincible Army with detachments of Imperial Service as military police, you're playing vanilla.
As has been pointed out before on these forums, the cultures from which Yu Jing stems has a long tradition of redemption. Those chances might not be great, but recruiting criminals into the army and enforcing strict discipline and control gives the criminal a chance to redeem themselves and leave criminal life and punishment behind.
Obviously the Hulang aren't suspects of too serious crimes or excessive relapse or they'd have been Kuangshied, but a desire to leave a life of violent crime behind can potentially make them very useful and fill them with a sense of purpose they might not have had before. Basically, IA is their gang now and comes with the perk of legitimacy.

You are talking about Wu Ming with that, Hulang are just bad boys (some may be criminals, others might not) that are specifically looked for and recruited because CB likes fluff akin to a 90s tennager's Vampire character background [emoji23]

Nah. Wu Ming are terrible offenders (war criminals and worse) with nill chance, but too useful to Kuang Shi. As you could read in Krit's background fluff, they have redemption/recruitment programs for criminals.

Well, IA is a modern, high-tech army. They don't necessarily need a Political Officer.

But note that a military division is some 20,000 people, while a company is maybe 200 (usually closer to 100). So you wouldn't see MPs very often.

Why would they desert, when they are legally allowed to murder people? (Yes, it's sick logic, but there are some people who think like that)

Yep, Wu Ming are those people still of use to the StateEmpire Army, as opposed to Kuang Shi that are only useful carrying explosives to the enemy.

Somethign I just thought of as I was making a list. I hope for IA and White Banner, they will have the Yisheng doctor and Mech-Engineer count as Zhanshi for link teams! And hopefull boost the AVA. Still mad about loosing JSA Doc/Eng.

To get in line with the thread, here are some suggestions (mainly directed at IA):

    1. Give Zhencha a minelayer profile.
    2. Give Haidao Veteran L1 (or L2, since it gives you NWI) OR create a FTO version of the regular Engineer (like the one Varuna has, kinda) to link with Zuyong Fireteams.
    3. Give Liu Xing Stealth OR Not Hackable.
    4. Give Hulang PH 14. I know most people think it needs a marker state, but I don't agree mainly because of fluff reasons: they are portrayed as bloodthirsty maniacs that want to cut stuff in half, not skeaky-approach-with-care specialists. So, give them the chance to Engage at 4 inches on 14s or avoid template while going for the enemy DZ realiably.

I would also argue that Krit not having an E/Marat is the only thing keeping him from seeing play. He has the two "E/M guns" that don't count, give him the good one.

That's my grain of salt, I mean sand! Oops, freudian slip right there.

This would be just a strict tax since it would do nothing against EM weapons that still brick him as a HI.
Haidaos main value is their relative cheapness due to no BTS and no true second wound discounts.

IMO, this would also be just a tax since monofilament doesnt use PH.

It would mean more reliable grenades and dodge/engage, which is still pretty useful on this kind of unit with Kinematika 2 and E/M grenades.

Yeah, well, it'd be more valuable if it could actually eat an EMP and keep going.

Haidao are somewhere between Seabees and Navy SEALs. Veteran L1 and some significant BTS (at least BTS3, BTS6 would be better) would be a really good thing. What the hell kind of space armor doesn't even have vacuum protections?!?

Ymmv, but I prefer effectively 2 wound KHD that wins his hacking FTFs anyway to stay 26 points and sniper to stay 37 instead of jumping into Gwailo point cost through spending them at a useless stat.

I don't think BTS and vacuum-rating are the same thing. There are Zero-G units that don't have BTS (Tomcats, for instance.)

I think the fairly low pricepoint of Haidao is one of the best things about them. As @fatherboxx says, they fit some important roles right now, and they don't need extra stats in order to be good at them. If you start adding rules, you increase cost, then we'd have threads about the bloat on IA's best Wildcard unit.

I dunno, in the RPG material everything that's vacuum-sealed grants at least BTS 3. I think the answer is, though, "these are wargame stats not direct setting material don't read too much into them."

And that has always confused me.

Yeah, well, if we fixed the cost of the Zuyong we could afford to have the Haidao 5pts more expensive.
