One of the advantages of having a Seed-Solder not prone is that if you're behind half cover you can't be seen, but on your turn you can declare autohatch - surprise shot. You go from S0 to S2 when you hatch, and then since you're leaving camouflage you can still surprise the enemy. If you're prone, it's much harder to get LoF efficiently.
No, a Seed is only prone if deployed with a prone marker. A Seed is S0, and when it hatches it transforms to the Silhouette of the developed profile, so a Seed will change from S0 to S2 when hatching, unless the Seed was deployed prone in which case the developed trooper will hatch prone.
Wait a minute, i'm totally confused now. Were you not the one that said the limited camo must be the same size as the figure. In this case 0. (Not sure if that already counts as prone). So, when you deploy a Seed it must be 0. Thats the size it is when deployed and in the limited camo. You have no choice! It's Obligatory to deploy in the Seed Troop Profile. SEED-EMBRYO DEPLOYMENT SKILL Obligatory REQUIREMENTS EFFECTS The user of this Special Skill must deploy in the Seed-Embryo (State) game state, applying the Seed-Embryo Troop Profile.
It's obligatory that it is S0. It is not obligatory that it is prone. Not putting it prone will make sure the enemy knows it's a seed, but you can then hatch+surprise shot from behind low cover. Putting it prone will make it just like any other prone camo marker and your opponent won't know what kind of camo troop it is.
You can deploy the Seed-soldier in two ways. 1) Deploy as a S0 camo marker, when it hatches it becomes a S2 Seed Soldier. 2) Deploy as a S0 camo marker with a Prone marker, when it hatches it becomes a Prone (S0) Seed Soldier.
isn't the fact that it's size 0 open information? Then you'd almost must put a prone marker next to it. It's not really fair to put it out as if it's S2 when it's not. They are going to want to spend an order to discover something they think is S2 camo. As you said, it doesn’t have the concealed trait so it’s open as to it being S0.
It's S0 whether you put a prone token next to it or not, all the prone token does is determine what Silhouette the hatched profile starts as. Once the seed hatches it is no longer a Camo Marker, so the camo marker will always be S0, with or without a prone token.
But your opponent is going to assume it’s S2 if you don’t put a prone marker next to it. To me that’s not fair. If it’s not Concealed then the size of the camo maker is open information and you must at least tell them it’s size 0 wether you put a prone marker down or not.
That involves you cheating. You MUST tell your opponent the Silhouette value of your Camo markers, it’s Open Information.
That's what I'm trying to say! You must at least tell them. At some point they could forget that's S0 though. Putting a prone marker next to it no matter what will be a reminder. Oh and sorry for changing from the OP but I think Seed Embryo is still related to it. Since it also matters a bit with the Embryo Decoys of the Cadmus.
Forgetting to say that it's S0 is akin to forgetting to say that a line troop is actually the FO profile. That's on you.
That's why I like the silhoette camo markers, it's obvious when something is a different size. Your opponent could also ask you to put a scrap of paper next to the S0 non-prone markers, or you could use different colour markers, lots of ways to denote it clearly.
I'm saying them forgetting during the game. I'll remind them if they ask of course. But putting the prone next to it will help both of us.
Putting a prone marker is possibly the worst thing you can do as it has an in game effect on the hatched profile. Much better to differentiate it another way, such as an upside-down/blank token next to it, or S0 drawn on the token in marker.
I have some S2 sized camo markers and some S0 sized camo markers and make a point of explaining to my opponent that a S0 camo marker means it’s a seed soldier. Although I’m tempted to start deploying them prone to hide that fact and to keep the seed soldier prone when revealing
