Actually, fuck it, let's have some fun. I've statted what I think would make for a cool interpretation of the Manticore as a TAG.

    MOV: 6-6 | CC: 20 | BS: 14 | PH: 16 | WIP: 13 | ARM: 5 | BTS: 6 | STR: 3 | S: 6

    Equipment: Sensor

Special Skills: G:Remote presence, Martial arts L2, Kinematica L1, Climbing Plus, CH:Mimetism, Multiterrain

Weaponry: 2 Viral Heavy Shotguns, Nanopulser, Viral CCW

The poison dart tail is represented by Viral Heavy Shotties and a Viral CCW. Sensor cos it's an animal and because this TAG is meant to be greased death if it makes it to the midline. The intention is that you need to support it with smoke from Myrmidon teams otherwise you'll feel its lack of range.

I understand the point, I just don't entirely agree with the final assessment.

Yes it is a beast, and like most TAGs is an order hog and if they need to you can run all 11 orders through it (which out side of Annihilation is probably a sub-optimal thing to do).

My counter point was having Strat1 to give you more options in a turn is never a bad thing, and that the idea of model that benefits less from it is crazy to me.

This seems to be more of a play style thing, as there many times in a game where I'm not spending orders on a TAG, as I tend to use them as a support piece that will will spend a few orders killing key targets to make some space for the rest of the list to operate effectively. As opposed to running a full pool of orders through it and running up the table to kill everything I can.

The Marut 'paying' for Strategos 1 is ultimately just a side effect of the formula based pricing that CB uses, and while I fully agree with the idea that it "doesn't really pay" for it (I mean come on, it's one thirtieth the total price and that's not counting Strategos 2 and 3) I definitely would say that the Marut benefits 'less' from it than other models. On models like the Alpha Unit who I would probably never put orders into anyway it's an integral part of the profile, whereas on the Marut it's just a nice extra thing in case you find yourself in a senario where you don't need the Marut.

All that being said, I would still be happy paying 4 points for Strategos 2 and 3, so I hardly see the need for change here.

I wasn't talking about changing it; 4 points is perfectly reasonable. I was just discussing the fact that Strategos L1 provides questionable benefits on such a strong model.

But who cares ? It got Strategos L3, and that's what it needs the most.

What I’d love to see is Achilles V1 to be restored to his former glory.

The Spitfire used to be the greatest gun in the game, and is now thoroughly eclipsed by the Red Fury. MA4+CC24 used to be reserved for supersoldiers, but is now readily available among noname mooks.

Achilles needs to be the best mankind has to offer in order to justify his fluff.

Things I’d like to see from n4
Assault hackers need Something more , maybe something like sensor or some kinda toolbox program and maybe a few less programs there’s a lot that seem redundant.
As for aleph. Would like to see hector get a small overhaul, he feels alittle light for his cost. Maybe mimitism or bs14.
Would love to see a med tag for steel phalanx.

And last but not least some more Myrmidon profiles another specialist would be great.( new sculpts would be nice for these guys, can’t have that traitor Perseus showing up the heroes of the human sphere)

I think it would just be cool to make dactyls wild card. Putting a doctor or engineer with nimbus grenades in a Myrmidon link would be sweet, you could stack low vis, odd and cover to zero guys out and reduce linked aro to burst to B1 v B4 spitfire. It would add a lot of utility...

Ok add this to my wish list think that’s a great idea..
Also think post humans need a fix.. they are kind of an auto include.. maybe make each one .5 swc extra

I was doing that with a Dactyl (solo of course) in the tournament I was in a few weeks back. First time really playing SP and it was brutal.

That would not be a solution. Make them take 2 slots would balance, specially with Tactical Window and Limited Insertion, even the odds. Revise the pricing would not be out of order too, but certainly the mk3 needs something different (an mk12 profile, or a MULTI rifle or something).

As it is, Posthumans are always included (but so are doctor plus ghulams, so... XD) in two main flavours: engineer mk1 + sniper mk2 + FO mk5, or doctor mk1 + hacker mk2 + either FO mk5 or any mk4...

Or MkI Engineer and MkII Hacker and MkV FO
Or MkII Hacker and MkIV HRL and MkV FO
Or MkI Hacker and MkII Sniper and MkIV HMG
Or any of the other flavours, not just 2. Basically all are taken except Mk3 (yes Stiopa, we know, you like it) and MkV Mk12.

Kinda like a million other basic units in other factions. It's kinda like Fireteams are autoinclude in Sectorials. Because Posthuman is not an equivalent to a trooper, but rather to a rule like Fireteams.

I just mentioned the ones I see more, frankly. Mk1 hacker I see... rarely. Engineer sometimes, doctor is the one I almost always choose (mimetic NWI specialist that can self-heal). Mk2 I prefer the hacker, but plenty of people consider the sniper is the best option. Mk5, the FO is like a "mini Dart", and that's enough XD. Mk4, I prefer the HRL for ARO duty (it has an SMG too for close quarters), but a lot of people prefer to try and rambo with the HMG...

The Mk3, I think I only saw it on the table when I used her... mostly for Biotechvore or dual "true" HI combo for the lulz...

I was just making the point there is far more "flavours" of Posthuman to be seen than just 2.
On the other hand, I never field the Doctor. Engineer is a far more useful and superior specialist; if I want it as a forward self-healing specialist I take Machaon. Or I just take Sophotect and take Mk.I Hacker or Mk.IV.
Yeah. Similarly, I see it only when somebody goes for the lulz

Machaon is 4 times that price... The sophotect I choose anyway, because I mix remotes and "flesh", so that colors my choice... 40pts for a medic and another medic + engineer instead of a doctor with smoke.

Sure, Machaon is 4 times the price, but they are way more useful than Mk.I Doctor. I choose some flesh, but almost all is NWI so I prefer not to Doctor due to chances of killing my own troops anyway. I find double Engineer way more useful than double Doctor. Also, if I take Sophotect, I am more likely to pick the Hacker as a cheap way to provide upgrade programs to Dakinis.

I usually take Mk.1 doctor when i take the Mk.4 HRL. You know, because 2W ARM8 BS13 HRL is not annoying enough :) I don't doctor that much in Aleph appart from the Mk.4. My choices are Mk.1 doctor + any Mk.2 + Mk.4 HRL or Mk.1 engineer + any Mk.2 + Mk.5 FO. Engineer is usually better, at least with my choice of troops. Zayins and dakinis like being repaired - or the opponent had to deal 3 wounds instead of just one knowing you will repair, so there is a benefit anyway.

Mk.1 hacker was good when the danava didnt existed. For 11 pts, she brings so much, she's totally worth it. Sad thing she didnt had NWI on a sophotech like profile. She's one of the troops that could be worth doctoring because of that.

I also run Mk.2 hacker + Mk.4 HRL + Mk.5 FO when i take a sophotech - usually when i really need a wide range of specialists (read highly classified). 15/10 on the sophotech is totally worth it, while Mk.2 and Mk.5 start closer to the objective.

There is a detail I just spotted: sometimes troopers are called NCO in the name, but they are not NCO de facto (Atalanta for example). They should be made so I reckon

I have another suggestion for SP:

I have to reconsider my Hoplite initial suggestion for a more historically aligned one. Hoplites phalanx had the shield wall tactic. This could be expressed in games mechanics with a M4-4 MI (lower armour value to an HI) that gains nanoscreen/shieldbot/protection(BTS or otherwise) or cover bonuses (sort of adaptive camo that goes on range bands) when the troopers are within a certain range from one another. Considering the nature of the bonus probably these MI could only be capable of Haris and Duo fireteams. Hoplites, due to their nature, are normal foot soldiers so I wouldn't go so much on CC, but on ranged weapons options. The idea of the "shield wall" could also be applied on stat bonuses for shooting so effectively they could be BS8 (+3 for 1 hoplite within X", +6 for 2 hoplites within X" effectively turning them in BS14 but exposed to templates). There's only to choose a hero for that (Themistocles?...) and maybe an NCO profile

On the matter of SP TAGS well... bring in the Colossus of Rhodes ^_^: a CC specialist that has a reload weapon (so you can't shoot every second activation... or B1 weapon could work the same) that prevents TAGS from shooting the Colossus on the way to CC. Obviously shooting is risky because one can always fail a FTF roll, but if you manage to hit then the opposing TAG is blind to your advance

Another idea in terms of TAGS: the Medusa. A TAG with a weapon that immobilizes (turn to stone ;)). In the mythology she had bow and arrows... and I suppose we could give her that too (big arrows), with arrows that push you directly away X" on top of damage (should you survive).
