If anyone is using it as a proof that MO is subpar, I'm warning you that I'll use it to say that SAA is in the same boat.

So what.... like one guy brought MO and didn't do so well?

    That proves MO isn't good?

Nah, that proves that nobody else decided to bring MO at all.
Except for the other guy in pulpi group who got to 61-st place with 6 TP and 25 OP.

And we can extend this logic to SAA, Tunguska, ISS, and Vanilla Ariadna?
Because only one person brought them and they didn't do so well?

Was MO ever a good army? After reading some of the things here I would like to know what it was like to play MO in the past.

    Narrow.

There was a mixed Hospitaller/Magister link everyone ran. It was arguably better than anything they have now but a lot more boring. It just ensured you would never really bring any other HI knights.

Well, thread is about competitive abilities of MO and i don't have any better source (with actual numbers and statistics) then the biggest tournament in the world with group literally composed of people who won Satellites and/or were in top 100 ITS ratings.
BTW Tunguska and ISS could really use some love from CB, just saying.

Before the "rework" hosp + mag link was really good, same as availability of fusiliers (especially that sweet Lt. option).. Good times...

Before HSN3 was pretty rough. They are way better now than they were then.

Boring as hell. It was powerful because you could have two Hospitallers for active turn and 3 Magisters for reactive and close quarter and it was easier to sneak one TO OS in it. Outside of this, the whole army was dying against hacker heavy lists and repeater heavy lists with a good hacker in a core FT.
Santiagos were worse than now, there was only Spitfire on Seraph, no Dart, no Tikbalang, you had to choose one order as your main one with AVA 4 on the knights of this order and could only take two knights from the others, Teutons couldn't link, Montesa were all duo and mechanized deployment but costing between 44 to 50 points and KotHS only had two profiles worthing the care: Spitfire and Spitfire lt. Oh, and there wasn't even the possibility to have a CoC.

It was good if you loved to play the same units again and again. There were also some cheesy lists interesting but outside of that, there was only void.

I can assure you that Aemaru and Mattbab aren't top 100 ITS. They are among the french top 10 for sure, but I'm not sure they were at the same level as the majority of the kraken members. Yes, they are good, more or less at my level, but be careful about what you are claiming.

Sure, werent 2 SAA in Pulpi top10 ?
The moment when the Hosp+Mag were a thing you had quite a good chance to win but you had to work for it.

Post HSN3 was good due to OS getting specialist (they used to have no specialists options) and some nice HRLs thingies.

IMHO the ALIVE time was a best time for MO (as you had good hacking for cheap, and even more enhanced by Joan). Hosp+Mag link and updated not terribly-terribly bad OS.

Strange, I keep hearing that Stealth is all what MO needs against hacking heavy armies......

But yeah, if your enemy knew how to stack up hacking+ARO then you had problems (but again fitting TOFOOS was easier).
They could for a moment ;P (like 1.5 years)
Again strange, as some people are sworn that Spitfire is all you need (especially linked on BS14 ARM4 2W platform), which would make Santiagos quite close with Hospitallers (but surprisingly most people prefered solid HMG and doctor).
More or less (more) yes. Though Hosp+Mag was stronger (imho) than anything current MO can bring.

    Yeah, my bad. Double checked:
    – 25 satellite winners ITS X.
    – 3 ITS 9 Regional winners.
    – 2018 Interplanetario Winner.
    – The 35 regular signed players with the higher ELO in ITS X season the day before the tournament starts.

    Still doesn't change the numbers.

Also - i do understand that in this game competitive success mostly depends on the player and not the army (and sometimes dice), but there are still some armies that are stronger due to better options of units and their availability (and their potential impact on the table) and there are armies that are stuggling for their place on top of ITS events.

I'm really not sure why we're attempting to take IP as a measure of anything's competitiveness given that the tournament plays by completely different rules compared to probably 90% of other events out there.

It used spec ops rules. Some factions got core linking jammers with abnormally high WIP and counter intelligence and other things while other factions didn't get crazy stuff like that. I'm not saying it was a bad event or people didn't have a great time with it, but compared to the satellites used to qualify for the event it wasn't playing by the same rules so I don't think trying to use it to compare faction strengths or popularity versus the base game is a great comparison.

    MO is good and fun.

But, the lieutenant thing is not even about it being easy to kill. It´s about it making it difficult to make the lists you want. Maybe I overthink it, but it really annoys me.

On the other hand you one could claim that it should be a better option for MO as they could "easily" make their own OS with Veteran + own Jammer to counter-jam enemy (even linked) jammers.
