Hey, kinda new to this whole infinity thing. Picked up a collection of Merovingian sectoral models, then discovered they were out of production. I figured what the hell, I’m going to try and make this thing work and blog collecting and painting every MRRF model.

The list of what I have:
    -Metros Rifle

Still hunting for: (Bold models are priority)
    -Moblot Rifle (reloading)
    -Para-Commando LGL

Nice collection so far OP, I've recently picked up a few french models too just because a lot of them are such fantastic sculpts. I got loup-Garous, Metros, Zouaves and Chasseurs to paint and realise I should probably grab a few more bits and I'll ''accidently" have an army! Lol

Looking at the army list, I like the look of Briscards, but unfortunately don't like the models so I'm looking for a suitable proxy... I was thinking a futuristic french foreign legion look... So if you have any ideas on how to achieve that let me know!

As for secrets for getting OOP models.... Luck!

Finally, tactics. I've only played against MRRF units in Vanilla, but Chasseurs are amazing. They force anyone to make bad choices when in ZOC due to their SSL1. I'd recommend really learning the SSL1 interactions to delay AROs and a well placed Chasseur could win you games!

    Good Luck!

    Very nice collection here.

I think you still have the spec-op, and mirage 5 in the official store (maybe a resculpt soon ?) and there is a new chasseur model that is very nice.

Let us know how your first battle with them go.

Thanks! I have had reasonable luck getting Briscards and the like, but am super jealous you have Loup-Garous. I can’t seem to find a single store online with them in stock! The sniper rifle figure is available occasionally but not much luck otherwise.

I like the Zouaves because of their mechanized deployment rule and Sapper. So good and lots of fun with the sapper sniper rifle.

And thanks for the tip on SSL1. I have yet to do anything but surprise glue someone but when I get the LFT chasseur watch out.

Thank you! I am holding off on getting those because they are readily available online so far, but I may want to reconsider since you never know with OOP factions. My first game was a vanilla Ariadna game against PanO. A loss but very good game to learning the mechanics in practice.

My second game was against Vanilla Combined in Firefight. I got to learn how to use the sapper HMG to hold a fire lane and Briscard assault pistols in a Haris team up close. Another loss but much closer game. Infinity makes me feel like I am always in the game till the last order is spent. That and MRRF’s myriad deployment options and unique LIs make for a play style I have not experienced in other games.

If you keep relatively up to date with CB news you'll have at least a month's warning before anything goes OOP, and even then you might consider the new sculpt anyway (by far the most common way for a mini to go OOP with Infinity, the second one being because the mini was limited release with a preorder or something like that, it's extremely rare for whole factions to go out of production). Of course a bird in the hand is worth a lot more than a bird in CB's online store, or something like that :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I guess I should also consider the spec ops for conversions it does make a suitable Zouaves and has a spare Sniper and HMG for un-sapper Zouaves, and Moblot.

Have fun with the zouave HMG but dont expect to hold anything. Use him to shoot stuff if you get first turn but if you play second you better hide yourself and dig a new trench when it's your turn again.

Got in a game of Quadrant Control in against USARF. I got stomped but like the previous two great for learning the rules. Mostly the USARF player moved some marauders up the middle and out gunned me. The game was great with lots of cross street firefights and a Marauder HRL template ruining my day. I did get to use my Briscards to flank a bike and take out a foxtrot. Smart smoke covered his advance against my sniper and I learned the though part of HMG’s on ARO. List and pics below.

    Hey AlbtheA,

Keen to hear your thoughts on your star performing models and which ones fell short of expectations. In the above list I'm particularly to hear how Bruant went. Also if any tactics in particular worked for you.

As for list suggestions, I'm not a fan of a light grenade launcher on a BS 10 Metro. And you could downgrade a couple of the paramedic Metros for points. A couple more points and you could get yourself another Chasseur, either a FO if you need a button pusher, or minelayer for more midfield defence.

    Good luck!

    Sounds like a fun game.

The point I think is really you don't want to go head to head with big hmg. Your aro are not good enough for that.

You probably want to hide of he has first tune and have him spend orders dealing with the chasseurs. Who always wait for the second skill. You can even have a basic metro or two watching for close ARO. But you don't want your briscard to be attacked during his turn.

    Bonne chance.

Started work on painting up the force. I did the base colors and a wash on everyone so that the colors would match. Highlights come next model by model in a batch paint so the force is going to look ugly for a bit then all of a sudden come together. In the meantime enjoy this washed out pic of Bruant for skin tones test.

In the mail arrived a Para-Commando with rifle and a Zouaves HMG sapper. My hope is that the zoauves sapper will be better than the moblot sapper due to mech deployment (as well as save a whole .5 SWC). I have yet to use a Para-Commando but they seem super cool. The rifle PC gives me the option to try out the profile without dumping 1 SWC in a Rambo piece.

I have also updated the first post to bold priority models I am looking to acquire. CB doesn’t stock them and stores aren’t getting much help from distributors. So if you happen to see any of the Bolds on the shelf at your FLGS, PM me so I can give them my money. I am in the USA.

@Steineriksen Bruant died early on to a flamethrower from the minutemen. So I think I only got to spend the Fireteam move order. In future games I will keep him less bunched as I learn more about Fireteam tactics. As my collection grows I will be trying out the 3Moblot/1 paramedic metro/Bruant Fireteam. I haven’t tried him in infiltration, which I may like better.

The Star model was again the Briscard. Marksman rifle and an assault pistol made short work of a maverick and a foxtrot respectively. They are quickly becoming my fav unit.

I will be dropping the LGL metro for the reason you stated. Also I won’t have as many specialists in the future. I was filling out points for this game but less likely to do this in the future.

@Marduck The Chasseur was clutch and even made a go at securing a quadrant. Having more chasseur options (including the minelayer) will give me some fun things to play around with. They seem infamous among players for their sneaky-ness and the ADHL has ruined a few days.

I also want to hear your thoughts on Camo metros. Having more models in marker state seems good to keep opponents guessing and the surprise factor can help with the DEP. Thoughts?

A couple limited camo metro are nice when you have some points to spare and feel lucky. A camo metro prone on a high roof near enemy DZ will make him nervous. They may shoot him in the back if he advances or consume orders if he tries to get them.

Biiiiiiig update today. First I want to express my complete gratitude to the Infinity community and especially @Golem2God. He was exceptionally generous with his models and hooked me up with the vast majority of what I had outstanding (list updated). He even threw in some extra models for proxies. Not just that, thanks to his efforts I have a bunch of links to eBay auctions and websites for the remaining range. Supreme kudos. One thing I had not told @Golem2God is that at love salvaging models and the hobby aspect. I can’t wait to dive in with this extra hobby.

Others have messaged me with help in finding models and tips for MRRF. Please keep them coming. I am so glad to be a part of this hobby community and have received the warmest welcome by far from infinity players.

Speaking of my love of hobby I have Ben hard at work on what I have. Here is a sample Metró and a group pic.

I know the group pics are not good, but the models are still in basecoat stage. I wanted to keep the colors uniform so I base coated everything. As models are complete I will edit the first post with action shots and better lighting.

Hopefully I can get a game in today and I’ll update further.

Thank you for the kind support so far.

That is a nice surprise. It is good to have that drive especially when saving models. I lean into the hobby aspect more as well. Converting, salvaging, repainting, are all things I enjoy. Glad my lot of unused minis was a blessing to you. Have fun and enjoy turning them into something special and may they perform well on the tabletop for years to come.

Thanks for sticking with the blog everyone. The holiday weekend gave me some time to paint but work ended up sapping my hobby day during the week. I have made some great progress but they are still mostly a blue blob. But, I see the greatness underneath! Check them out.

I have not gotten anything to strip the paint off of the other models I got from @Golem2God. My hope is to rebuild after a strip and to blog the process. I have also settled on bases from Antenocitis workshop the Tri-Hex Bases. Has anyone tried these bases? How is shipping from them? Also if you have a good suggestion for stripping paint I would appreciate the suggestions.

    (Hopefully) more updates shortly.

It looks lovely. Hope you have fun with this. You can do some interesting Moblot + metro and bruant as a back up link, a Briscard haris and some zouave + paracommando.

What about adding some lighter brown or a shade of black on the bags ?

@Marduck I started highlighting up the brown on the bags so I’m curious to see what you think when I am finished. Hopefully it comes out good.

I started stripping the Loup-Garous first I disassembled the models and made sure I had all the pieces.

Next was to leave them overnight in some simple green.

Tomorrow morning I will clean off the excess build epoxy and brush away the paint with a toothbrush. I am curious if anyone has had success with this method themselves.

    Till next time
