Hello Everyone, After skimming through some other factions forums and being impressed by some of their Tactica threads...I sadly realized that Yu Jing actually doesn't have a tactica for Vanilla or ISS in this Forum yet. Since we received some recent additions and things overall changed a bit in the last 1-2 years......why don't we try creating Tacticas together? I was thinking of writing one on my own, but I simply didn't use some of the units enough to say useful things about them (never used a Wu Ming Linkteam for example) ...so maybe if we pool our resources together, we can come up with a glorious tactica to help out all the new Yu Jing Players which have joined us in the recent years!? I was thinking of preparing A spot for every unit profile, and people could then go like "Kanren Killer Hacker: Info" in this thread, and I'll then add it to the Tactica or add the new parts to already existing parts of the Tactica... Obviously things like little tricks you guys like doing with certain profiles or Combos are interesting as well, as it's those things that really help new players out the most I think. So yeah....that's my plan...hope people will join in once I created the empty shell for it and start filling it up ^^
Go for it! My advice is to write what you can, and comically take totally wrong what you cannot, thus summoning people who lack the drive to start a guide but are not afraid of correcting others. It worked wonders for Aleph's guide in english ^^
Hehe, true that, I'll surely give even units I don't have much experience with a go, but hopefully people who actually used them will be able to improve on my tactica ideas then :-) I'll try to give the Tactica a positive spin, so things like "This unit sucks, don't take it" will hopefully not be necessary...
"hard to justify the expense", "hard fit", "too specific for most games", "too costly", "You will feel pressed to get use of it", and "inferior to X unit" (X being a similar one, it usually happens with sectorial units in generic).
That requires adapting for each ITS season, however. A simpler option is to make something like the ITS9 guide I made for Aleph here: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/aleph-its9.500/ Essentially, highlight the important points of the season (veteran, Elite and HQ troops in this case), and troops that can achieve specific missions (Anti-material weapons for this season: DA, EXP, etc...). Also, some troops are always "too juicy to pass up" (like the Paramedic Tiger Soldier, able to perform a lot of primary and secondary objectives, and able to deploy a template, exchange fire, or sit in Suppresive Fire on the enemy's position with mimetism).
Situational units tend to depend on more than missions though. I bet it would be more mainstream for people to prepare lists to fit different table loadouts (short range/long range, terrain skills, climbing+ / superjump; heck, even MSV1 if you run into Low Vis zones) and maybe to counter factions they face if it was not for those concerns taking a backseat compared to needs of particular missions. Although people tend to mention things like that in tacticas...
Sounds like a good idea. I would be willing to help out once you get started. A tactica might be what's needed for newbies to get a better hold on the games rules and what's possible to achieve with their units.
I'm currently on the brink of starting ISS and I would love to see a well written tactica. In my local meta there is only 1 Yu Jing player and he plays JSA, meaning I can only judge the units by their profile. It would be great reading how they work out on the table, especially all those holo L2 units because I have little to no experience with that skill.
If it helps, i already have a blog on iss You can use the contents if you like. blackdragonrises.blogspot.com.tr
Awesome, Thank you for the offer! I'll take a look at it (though the name seems familiar, maybe I already did before :-P) and fill int the blanks or add ideas from it to whatever I come up with! At the moment I am slowly writing entries for ISS Units, though with my kids going berserk at the moment it might take longer than I had hoped it would....but oh well, not like I'm in a hurry I guess, I'll have to check if my style of writing the Tactica is any good after a few more entries anyways, as some of the entries have gotten a bit out of hand *caugh* Kuang Shi *caugh*...
This sounds like a genuinely amazing idea ( One that has gotten quite some fruition, judging by the ISS guide ( Which is pretty great, BTW. ) ). As a new player, I would really enjoy the opportunity to learn more about Vanilla YJ as well, and, even if I am still a new player, I would gladly help out in any fruitful way I could. Good luck.
I'm down to contributing to this, especially since vanilla YJ is the only thing I play! Listing all the possible units you can take + mercenaries with Soldier of Fortune seems like the way to go, if you ask me. You could try to cover pros and cons (generally speaking) for each one, synergy with X/Y unit and also briefly describe the "type of operations/mission" they are likely to excel at/be useful for. ITS9 groups missions by DIRECT ACTION OPERATIONS, SPECIAL OPERATIONS and JOINT OPERATIONS... I'm not saying we should use those, but maybe grouping the scenarios by type is a good way of not having to redo every single explanation every season. Let me know if I can help with anything, I'd be excited to participate :)
Just wanted to say that I'm currently not doing a Vanilla Tactica mainly because I think Yu Jing is in a periode of transition and it might be a waste of energy to do so before the Invincible Army has arrived, which will mix up things heavily I think. Also I am currently experimenting with my Japanese, so there's that :-P If you guys find the time to do so, that's obviously be very helpful for the community though!
