Ended up trying to spruce up my leather on the Zhayden. Enough of a success to make me want to do all of the leather team now.

Now for something a little different. My friend gave me an Aida and I painted him this model in return - I was allowed to pick the colours so I went a little wild and tried out Vallejo's fluorescent colours. Really enjoyed the result and think I will paint a future army in this colour scheme!

Here is a Krakot stylised as Goku, and Uhahu who I'll use as a HVT! Wish I has removed the goggles from the Krakot before sculpting the hair, with them it can look like he's wearing a wig!

I made good use of the new contrast paints to speed things along to great effect. The skin on both is contrast, as is Uhahu's trousers, vest and cap. C&C always welcome, especially if anyone has tips for sculpting greenstuff hair like that - it was a bit trial and error for me - I wonder if there are some elegant methods out there.

That is some outstanding NMM on the Krakot's CCW. #Painting goals!

Great job as always. My only critique is that the gun (and pouches) on krakot look a little flat with just a mono highlight. You have the skills to add gradients of light sourced greys to make them more 3D looking, so I think you should spend a bit more time on these areas.

No offence, but it's surprising how great you paint NMM on weapons and in the same time how bland are the other materials. Like the almost flat parts of armour on Krakot, or his hair. It looks like it's not finished.
The same goes to Zhayedan's coat.
Uhahu looks much better, because all the mini is in similar style, with close gradients of color.
I think it would be much better if you'd treat all the surfaces on miniature in similar way - if you go with strong contrast, like on the sword, then you also add more contrast on other elements. So the whole miniature looks consistent. You definitely have the skills :)

Super interesting. I'll definitely work on the weapons - fortunately the next models on the paint table are 3 S5 HI so I have a large canvas to practice!

I hadn't considered how some extreme highlighting somewhere can make other parts look too flat (or even unfinished!), I will keep an eye on consistency across the model in the future. Maybe the next few will be ok since I'm back to the comfort zone of my regular colour scheme, but I have an Aida which I'll do in different colours so making sure the flatter areas look finished, especially different textures like hair, skin and cloth and metals, will be a good test!

OK I've tried a couple of new things here: 1) Rust effects on the Azrail to showcase their outdated armour. 2) More elaborate effects on the weapons to make them less flat - wasn't too sure on the colour choice here, interested in what you think!
