I had a conspiracy theory hit me the other day that might explain why it looks like Tohaa is being deleted from infinity.exe. I think they may do a 4th edition reboot soon. There is a bunch of bloat and randomness in the game now that could be very easily simplified. That would allow them to redo starters for every faction and explain why the old stuff for Tohaa was discontinued.
Or they thought that including a currently out of production model range in an introductory booklet for new players wasn't the best idea? Notice they also didn't use an FRRM model for Ariadna, or an SAA model for PanO. They did use a Tohaa merc model for NA2 though.
If a forth edition or a Human Sphere N4 comes and Tohaa isn't a part of the factions shown then we can say that CB has sent the Tohaa out to pasture. Until then we still have a chance and I personally don't think CB will get rid of the Tohaa due to the backlash that Uprising produced. I know they got rid of the Exrah form the Combined forces but Tohaa are more popular/played than they were(?). So maybe the same fate won't befall the Artichokes.
Exrah were 4 miniatures in vanilla CA. Without their own sectorial even. Tohaa is an entire faction, with a huge number of minis (around 40-50, IIRC). And less than half of those can even be reused in Spiral Corps. If the combat veggies are discontinued as a faction - I'm going to be extremely pissed, and likely will drop Infinity altogether. I didn't buy almost entire model line just to have it be unplayable.
Being as I found out about this game when N3 came into being I'm to be corrected for this mistake. This tidbit however has made the current situation with the Tohaa seem ever more dire than before in my personal eyes. While I won't quit Infinity I'm more endevoured to keep the Artichokes alive with a force I'm currently planning. It will have to be a converted force but that is what makes it all the more appealing to me. Let's at least keep the Vanilla faction alive and well. Remind everyone that another alien faction/culture still exists in the Infinity universe.
Well, over here in Germany, it looks like Tohaa is going to be the most played Sector at the German National Championship. I hope things like this will show CB that we're still very much interested in our vegetables. We're doing out part! *Starship Troopers theme*
Just as a reminder: infinity blog (28-12-2018) Well, the name 'Tohaa' is a link. Or 'was'... And at least it is not an error 404, but 403...
The line "2019 will be the year of the Tohaa players!" is a little cruel and sort of like rubbing salt in the wound at this point. Unless they have some surprise left for us before the year is over, this was not the year of Tohaa players unless they meant it was the year for the Tohaa players to convert to NA2.
https://www.infinitythegame.com/blog/item/613-what-will-2019-bring-from-corvus-belli When I reread this post it felt as though CB lied in a round about way. The statement "Most importantly though - 2019 will be the year of the Tohaa players! It is going to be a chance for the alien species of the universe to expand their influence over the Human Sphere." seems misleading. Though the fact of the Triumvirate using the Spiral Corps to extend their influence does make the last part of the quote actuate it still feels like a shitty dupe on CB's part. This wasn't the year of the Tohaa by a long shot. Even if you count the new units that got added to the faction as a whole plus the new sculpts the fact that most of the faction is going OOP despite a few units being new sculpts is unheard of. Why not just discontinue the oldest/non-didgital sculpts and keep the newer ones? For example the Gorgos Pilot is less than 2 years(?)old. I'm sure some people would like to at least use a Tohaa pilot in Spiral despite it being a Human T.A.G.
