I barely ever bring 1 how do afford that much swc?? I’m more likely to drop the cash on the hac Tao ML when you’re talking those point costs.
The real question I'm having is where to spend SWC. It's a nice troop but the AHD profile won me the last game I played by being a tough infiltrating specialist in Supplies. He also has the power to threaten Cutters, Swiss Guards, Hac Taos, Omegas and other hackable things that are hard to hit, while is stuck spraying and praying, with poor chance of both hitting and damaging.
I'd give the spitfire to the tiger soldier personally, since you already have 2 guilangs and the daofei for your close range needs.
I can understand the problems Uprising caused Yu Ching and with and the sub par Invincible army but man I still love Yu Ching and it's sectorials. I think they are a competitive army based on my VERY limited experience. Now that I have a descent grip on the rules. I am branching out and just seeing whats out there in other factions. Sure some armies have there niche's but Yu Ching covers a lot of play styles really well. I believe is was @Section9 who said there versatility was a great strength of Yu Ching but don't quote me on that. I agree with this sentiment whole hardily. I know the game has to grow. I also think CB has not done a great job and repairing the damage they have caused with the holes they have created. For example JSA being removed and Tohaa entering oblivion. My personal opinion is we will never see the vanilla Tohaa faction released again. It probably didn't sell enough models even though it was a top tier army. That is sad to me as a new player. These actions that cause low moral are really bad for the gaming community imho. For me personally I can't get my self hyped at 0-12 being released. I really love the idea of 0-12. But with fucking disaster called Invincible army including the Hulang and Krit its quite hard to be excited about anything new. At the same time this happened we saw Dashat come out and Haqq it buffed. We only have 2 competitive army choices on the whole. Sure, some people can get IA to work but I think that is going to be a small portion of people. In the right hands any army is competitive after all. I'm not asking for an Iwin button and of course every army needs weaknesses. CB has a great opportunity before them by releasing another competitive faction for Yu ching be that White Banner or something else. Like I said, I love Yui Ching I just don't seem myself being excited about anymore releases until they boost my moral up with something fun, interesting, and competitive. In the past I have read some great posts about how amazing Yu Ching is. I am on the hunt to find them again. If you know where any Pro Yu Ching post are that talk about the positive things about the faction please post them below!
Yes, YJ's army theme has been variety. Almost all YJ units have a couple different things they're decent at. Not as good at shooting as PanO, of course, but they're better at healing or at melee or whatever in addition to being decent shots. PanO troops are (generally) very narrowly focused to do one thing very well indeed, but if you try to make them do something outside their focus, they're screwed.
YJ is one of the few armies were i have no clue what will be on the table even after my opponent tells me that he plays YJ. (At least for Vanilla and ISS)
You want positive? Yu jing is pretty epic, a powerful (in game) and flavourful faction. Its amazing what you can do with a list between the recent IA additions and Yu jing classic. Liu Xing actually is an instant win button you can press in emergencies. Always bring the multi if your going to do it (2wound drop trooper with bs13 multi is outrageously broken if you play it well) and beware the mirror match its not so good against yu jing. Zencha does a lot of cool stuff but perhaps the funniest thing is dodging sideways up buildings. Mowang is your 3 wound NCO mimetism wet dream that model is highly anticipated. Hai Dao is a revelation of a durable specialist/general ITS optimised body. Hulang... It offers something, returns some of the lost JSA close combat competency excellent meme list material. Daoying is probably the most efficient LT in the game, promotes a new playstyle and is enormous fun I've even found the sniper minelayer to be excellent, it's quite the curve ball. Invincible army itself has a small competetive niche but not a easy faction to play. Ive tried it briefly but expensive elite links are not my style. I actually prefer to use the Yuan Dun CBLs which my opponents always appreciate seeing. Which is the next great thing about yu jing. As CBs pet faction yu jing is the only one with CBLs: its the lazy man's faction! Can't be bothered to build a list? Enjoy this pdf! People are always pessimistic when they are on top of the curve... How can things improve from here? Who knows it is hard to imagine a better faction? but it's ok optimism is a state if mind and yu jing is optimism personified.
That's a spin I havnt heard before. And here was me thinking the cbls were just to get us to shut up about the uprising fuckup.
I was just going to leave that lol. I don't think Yu ching is CB's pet faction. I personally think it's Haqq or PanO. Look at how many sectorials they have.
If I had to pick it would be Nomads or Ariadna. I think its pretty safe to say since this was an RPG campaign the PCs would have probs been aligned with the underdog factions, nomads and ariadna against the evil yu jing and too a lesser extent pano until the real big bad the combined army showed up with haqq being some neutral NPC nation.
The YuanDun CBL was supposed to get people to shut up, except that YuanDun fluff was apparently copy&pasted from the Einsatsgruppen Wikipedia entry. The YD lists are mechanically interesting, I will grant. Not very well optimized for something that you'd take to ITS, but interesting ideas nonetheless. And CB did take note about the 'not very well optimized' part for future CBLs. But when the YuanDun CBLs come with a no-substitutions side order of War Crimes fluff, ick. Bostria's comment about one Aristeia! character: "You know he's evil because he's from YJ"?
