Its my first time playing an ITS mission. I will br aying a 200pt Frostbye senario.

I will be playing some flavor of Nomads. Hence the + sign.

I can field any flavor of Yu Ching. Hence the + sign.

Any suggestions on lists and tactic will be most thankful.

    For the Jade Empire!

Do remember, that after a heating unit is activated, it cannot be switched off, only destroyed. Those words of re-taking consoles in the mission description are only for the purpose of the point count for having a console hacked.

200pts is quite restrictive and punishing for Frostbyte but should make for an interesting game.

I'd have some temptation to run Invincible army (IA) because of how potent it's order advantage can be alongside a list with most of the points locked up in heavy infantry. However, in an attempt to keep a full combat group I have the following list suggestion.

    Yu Jing
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]9 [IMG]1 [IMG]2
    ZÚYǑNG Lieutenant (AutomediKit) HMG / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (1 | 39)
CELESTIAL GUARD (Kuang Shi Control Device) Combi Rifle + Light Smoke Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 13)
KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5)
KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5)
    RUI SHI Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1 | 20)
NINJA Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Tactical Bow / Pistol, DA CCW, Knife. (0 | 29)
WÚ MÍNG (Fireteam: Duo) Chain Rifle, Submachine Gun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
ZHĒNCHÁ (Forward Observer) Submachine Gun, D.E.P., Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 34)
HǍIDÀO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 26)
WARCOR (Sixth Sense L1) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3)

    2.5 SWC | 199 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

Over half the points are in heavy infantry meaning that even if no-one activates a heating unit over half you list will stay alive. The Zuyong Lt makes a pretty decent Lt and datatracker and the automed-kit somewhat mitigates the lack of a doctor. You have camo specialists to help get to the consoles and a rui shi to combo with the smoke from the celestial guard with kuang shi control device. The kuang shi help with deployment defence in addition to being cheap regular orders. Killer hackers are your best bet defending against Nomad hacking shenanigans and if you deploy well then you can bait the foe into going after the haidao only to have to try and deal with the ninja at the same time!

A funny thing you can do is get a Ninja or similar into contact with your opponent's two heating units and destroy them. It'll be tricky, but depending on the terrain you might be able to suppress him enough that a non-KHD bow Ninja can get into contact and start bringing it down (KHD Ninjas tend to die to Repeater coverage, particularly against Nomads)

I agree. I tried to tell my opponent that ITS is balanced around 300 pts. He does not think its going to matter. We are playing 200pts to tryvand play a faster game.

Infinity works well in the 200 to 400 spectrum, but depending on what points you end up will impact which factions are good or worse off. 200 can get a tiny bit skew-ey at times and 400 can get a bit spammy.

Sort of. The only thing you need to make sure of is that wherever they try and hack your Haidao from, the ninja will want to also be able to ARO. Either you place the ninja within 8" or so a bit ahead of the Haidao (terrain and the exclusion zone make this easier and less restrictive than you might first expect) so that any approach to get to the haidao will bring them into and stay within the ninja's hacking area as well.
If you place the haidao quite centrally and the ninja 4" further up and depending on the terrain and luck you could be up to 16" away from the haidao and still be able to ARO with both. (i.e. their hacker is between your hackers and within hacking range of both.)

If your opponent prefers to directly hack without the use of repeaters you can also use the Rui shi's repeater to help extend your hacking area.

Whilst I did say that 200pts is quite restrictive, I meant specifically for the Frostbyte scenario due to it's special rules. For simpler missions it's quite a good point level (annihilation, decapitation, etc...) but frostbyte asks a bit more from your list.

We played the game last night. I managed to pull it off 10 to 1. But that was only due to, imho, 1 lucky crit. I was able to stave off a volley of 4 shots from an HMG. If I didn't crit that roll it easily could have been flipped.

Here is the list I played. My datatracker was Tai Sheng

    IA Frostbyte 200pt
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]6
    ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Haris, Tactical Awareness) Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot B (Deflector L2) / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (0.5 | 34)
ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Duo, Tactical Awareness) HMG / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
    TAI SHENG Mk12, Chain-colt, Stun Grenades / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 45)
DĀOYĪNG Lieutenant L2 Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 29)
ZHĒNCHÁ (Forward Observer) Submachine Gun, D.E.P., Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 34)
    RUI SHI Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1 | 20)

    3.5 SWC | 200 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

I went up against Corregidor. I don't have the exact list but I know the major pieces. His datatracker was the TAG.

    Senor Massacre + 2 Jag.
Cheap 5 link with a hacker.
    Lunokhod Sputnik
    Iguana TAG

I was so excited to play as I always am that I made a crucial mistake in deployment. I won the roll off and picked second as this mission is generally good for that to my understanding. My mistake was that I was not paying attention while in a bloodthirsty rage I deployed my guys as If I was going first. I really thought this was going to cost me the game. It turns out it didnt play that way at all.

I was able to wall up good enough that Mr. Massacre didn't get to my link and was punished for trying it in my second turn. Phew...

The TAG also had a hard time spending a ton of orders having to move into position.

I scored a point and a half with my Zencha before I opened up on the Lunkohod with a DEP. I got a console and forward observed his HVT 1 once.

Nomads garbed a console and made a big push on turns 2 and 3. That way we didn't have a Tie. This is there the lucky crit came in. I was able to pass most of my rolls and stave off the barrages.

Then my turn 3 I finished off the TAG and pilot. Moved Tai sheng into LOF of the HVT and finnished my classified. This put him in the exclusion zone.

My opponent had me worried the whole game. It was rough. Man I love this game.
