Hi I just recently started Infinity, and I have chosen the sectorial that is not updated and out of production, the mighty MRRF ! (and TAK, but my MRRF is up and running so I'll keep playing them for now).

I got my ass kicked last time I put them on the table, playing against Yu Jing Invisible Army.
I would like my third game to be a bit less one sided so I'm calling for help.

All the documentation from the forum and the old post from Dice Abide (https://www.thediceabide.com/blog/2...ian-rapid-response-force-unit-reviews?rq=mrrf) helped me get a good grasp of list building but I'm still struggling. A lot of units seems really high cost for the result and balancing combat groups is still a bit tricky.

So I've tried to do a list against HI, specifically for Quadrant Control :

    Loup Graou de montagne
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]7
BRISCARD Lieutenant Marksman Rifle / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24)
BRISCARD Paramedic (Medikit) Marksman Rifle / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0 | 26)
BRISCARD (Forward Observer) Marksman Rifle / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
BRISCARD Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 23)
BRISCARD Marksman Rifle / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24)
CHASSEUR (Minelayer) Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)
ALGUACIL Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 18)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]6
CHASSEUR (Minelayer) Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)
LOUP-GAROU (Fireteam: Haris) Viral Rifle, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22)
LOUP-GAROU Boarding Shotgun, Adhesive Launcher, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 18)
LOUP-GAROU Boarding Shotgun, Adhesive Launcher, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 18)
    BRIGADIER BRUANT Molotok, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 28)
KNAUF MULTI Sniper / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32)

I'm taking any advice you have, thanks !

I'm going to give it to you straight, IMHO, your list building is all out of whack.

Why take full link of Briscards? why take Loup if you're only going to take one viral rifle and no range? why take unlinked Bruant? why only take 2 Chasseurs?

Take a look at the Moblot/Metro mixed link. For its pts per firepower cost it's probably the best in the sectorial. You're getting your biggest BS HMG mixed with some of the lowest cost troops in the game, you can also mix in a hacking device should you choose to. Knauf is a great choice – he brings the biggest gun and is super flexible in the army. use him as an active turn hunter early in the game and then leave him out for ARO once your opponent loses some of their higher burst weapons. Briscards or Loups should be your Haris, they're both really good troopers and can be really effective depending on how your opponent builds his Invincible Army.

max out your AVA on the Chasseurs. These are the best troopers in the sectorial. They are possibly the best infiltrator in the game. Get good at using them, keep sixth sense 1 in mind when your opponent is trying to navigate the board. Take minelayers in non-specialist missions, take FOs in button heavy missions.

Fill one group up with 10 orders and leave the rest in group 2. My MRRF lists usually look like this:

    Force de Réponse Rapide Merovingienne
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10
MÉTRO Paramedic (Medikit) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    MÉTRO Lieutenant Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 8)
    MOBLOT HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 29)
MOBLOT Boarding Shotgun, Panzerfaust / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23)
MOBLOT Rifle, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 21)
CHASSEUR (Minelayer) Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)
CHASSEUR (Minelayer) Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)
CHASSEUR (Minelayer) Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)
CHASSEUR (Minelayer) Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)
KNAUF MULTI Sniper / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]5
    112 Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 12)
BRISCARD Marksman Rifle / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24)
LOUP-GAROU (Fireteam: Haris) Viral Rifle, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22)
    LOUP-GAROU Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21)
LOUP-GAROU Boarding Shotgun, Adhesive Launcher, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 18)

Great Group 1 Firepower, flexibility in group 2 for ARO or camo token hunting and good defense. Use your Chasseurs to dive the back line and kill the squishier supporting units. flank the HI team and plant mines behind them, then shoot with a heavier duty trooper and have them go off on the ARO. MRRF is all about utilizing clever tactics, in a slugfest they wont do so well against a true HI link.

Knauf is awesome, but he's also doing the same job as the Briscards in this list. His stats are better but he's also not got Fireteam bonuses.

You could drop him, add another Chasseur, and give sniper rifles to both your Fireteams. This would give your Loup team a more reliable way to fight over 16", and let the Briscards outrange HMGs if necessary. While Chasseurs are just fantastic and you should take as many as possible.

I'm also not 100% convinced by the Alguacile hacker in this list. IA have the tools to neuter him with tinbots and linked KHDs, and he's not great on offense with mediocre stats and no repeater net. You could probably replace him with another Chasseur, or a Para-Commando.

Other than that, what in particular was giving you problems in the game? Were you struggling to project force, or were you being steamrolled by aggressive troopers? Or something else?

@MikeTheScrivener No worries, I'm still learning list building so I'm prepared to get some painful truth.

Okay, your list make a lot more sense, but why the lone Briscard on group 2 ?
Couldn't he be replaced by a BS paracommando to get a sacrificial flanking solution for example ?
And isn't it lacking a bit of AP ? I know that MRRF doesn't have access to a lot of T2 gun or good HI threatening stuff.

@colbrook Thanks for the inputs !
Yeah last time on of my flank basically collapsed under a BS Lui Xing that dropped and wiped out my Loup Garou.
He then proceed and chewed my Metro link. I guess that was also due to bad positioning.

For sure! BSG Paracommando is a really great choice – I prefer having a MSV1 camo hunter but having a flanking BSG is a really really great tool that a lot of the other list can't do. I think you'll get a lot of mileage out of something like that, especially if you want to dive the opponent back line.

AP ammo is a bit of a crapshoot. Against Invincible army you might find more use out of it but 80% of the time you'll be shooting ARM 1, 2, or 3 where it makes little difference. Shotgun templates are the real killers, denying a decent ARM troop his cover bonus will eat them alive. BSG/LSG on the Moblots destroy links teams.

Yeah loup garou really want at least a pair of viral rifles, their sniper is cheap too so good for some ranged punch at higher damage.
Knauf is a bit of a no-brainer, Def get him in the list.
I like the moblot/metro team myself. Moblot HMG, maybe an engineer and a shotgunner, plus a metro LGL and an alguacike hacker. Makes a solid all-rounder team that can do loads of classifieds.
Then stick in a few chasseurs

Had a bunch of points spare hence the random end to the second combat group but you get the idea

Ok, I still need to get a good grasp of the sectorial.
Frontline against PanO with lot of sensor yesterday, Chasseurs didn't made it to round 2 and those damn BSG droptroop are definitely my worst nightmare. Bad decision was my downfall, and it didn't ended up well.

Quick question, is the Moblot sapper able to join a mix Fireteam core of Moblot and Metro, and then go into Foxhole ?
It would make him a good HMG platefrom for ARO but at the cost of pining the fireteam down ?

Hello. First congratulation for picking mrrf. That requires some dedication with the mini production being stopped.

A lot have already been said. The moblot sapper can join a FT including a mixte. It's just a regular moblot that can dig a hold. Not sure if it's gonna work great as ARO because Yu Jing and Pano can outgun him. Better using a panzerfaust moblot for that.

I think some of your trouble come from error deploying and playing. No magical list can solve that. For exemple, if you use chasseur mine layer make sure you deploy your mine forward so that your opponent has to discover and shoot the mines of sacrifice someone. Don't expect too much from your long range aro pièces. They can't compete with high tech dedicated shooters. Your main defense should be mines, chasseur and expendable troops like warcor or some metro in suppresive fire.

Mixte moblot metro FT is good. I also enjoy bruant and metro. Very cheap efficient FT.

If your have the starter you have the zouave and para commando mini. Use their HMG profile or knauf to eliminate AROs (except stronger pieces like kamau sniper) then rush in with the loup garou or briscard. Try to have a lot of order in a group to do that. MRRF play a little like a glass Canon army.

Yeah for a defensive five man team they're good because sapper gives him mimetism, he gets the extra burst and ballistic skill from the link and SSL2 to prevent smoke'n'shoot tactics as well. Long skills don't kick members out of the team anymore so if you have to get up and move, you can re-foxhole him again later
