So according to Corvus Belli's latest blog post, Hippolyta is going to be usable in ALEPH (and presumably Steel Phalanx) as well as in O-12 - not too surpising considering she's Myrmidon themed. With that being said, what are your expectations for her? Any particular skills, weapons, or equipment that you'd like to see?
Well taking from her description and cards on Aristeia I would say ODD, some kind of CC ability(Kinematika,Ikhol, Martial Arts) they also tell she is a "natural Leader" so maybe she can be LT with something (counterintelligence, Lt Lv2,Advanced Command or Inspiring Leader?) or maybe she has CoC. She is an amazon (The Queen) so maybe something along the line of Penny on the profile stats (They are sisters on the greek myth) I'm hoping for a good moving piece 4-4 or 6-2, maybe with multi terrain, 2W or NWI or at least Dogged. For weapons i would like a "cheap" profile with Boarding shotgun or Assault Pistol (maybe 2... i'm dreaming) , and another profile could be a mid range weapon (MK12, Red Fury, Precision rifle with some additional ammo) Something around this is what i'm thinking she will be but maybe i will be gladly surprised with something else.
She had a tactic card optical disruption field. It could be fun to get that rule back from N2. Give her enomotarchos wildcard and put ODD in whatever you want, dactyls, Ajax, Hector?? That would be pretty amazing...
Frankly, I would expect a high PH melee unit, with SMG as her primary ranged weapon (and the customary pistol), and NCO. ODD is also customary in the Phalanx, so I would think something in the lines of Shakti/Eudoros, with 2 wounds, ODD, melee-oriented pintsize-powerhouse. Or they could go into the "archer amazon" part (her model having a modest bust might point there), and give her a bow instead of the SMG... Anyway, I hope she can make a Thorakitai enomotarchos at the very least, since I'm tired of using only Thrasimedes for that while Alke sits in the bag, looking pretty but of little use :S
She's got a breaker rifle, EXP ccw, and eclipse grenades - breaker ammo has previously bee restricted to Dactyls and Andromeda, so this should give us some more options in Myrmidon teams. I'm also glad to see that she has eclipse instead of regular smoke. Hopefully she's got some decent skills to back everything up - I know I'd quite like to see chain of command, or some other specialist skill to give Myrmidon teams options beyond assault hackers, CoC officers, or Machaon.
An Aristeia player wins an important Aristeia tournament and as a prize gets the chance to design an Aristo for the game. That player happens to be an Infinity ALEPH player. He designs his dreamed mirmidon Aristo. The character ends up having a profile in Infinity and being playable in Aleph. I don't know you but that's UNETHICAL Probably CB tried to take the chance to highlight their "Bro company" image, but unfortunately the message they transmit is: come to play Aristeia and design an Aristo, we will make it a playable unit for your Infinity faction. That really is unfortunate, Hypolita is a shame as a character that shouldn't be playable in Infinity. Not to say Aleph is an OP broken faction as clearly shown by all the ITS data and the last thing they need is more shit added to their roster.
To be fair, the last "player unit of choice" was Bit & Kiss for CA by the winner of the Tagline ITS, I think... That being said, we only know she was designed by a player because said player revealed it, I don't remember any official communication (nor that I follow the Aristeia forum, however).
Why unethical ? We’re talking about a game, not politics. It’s not that there already weren’t Eclipse Grenades / EXP CCW / Breaker CR in ALEPH. And this is a nice and logical character for Aristeia ! As far as I’m concerned, I don’t play ALEPH, only Steel Phalanx, and it’s not a top-tier faction. Some fresh blood would be nice, especially if it could oil the old mechanics of Enomotarchos. But it’s a dream so far. My only concern is that the artwork is far far better than the two minis...
Unethical seems to be a bit over the top don't you think? A player won a tournament and got to provide a concept for a cool unit. Steel Phalanx is good but hardly top tier, and a breaker combi rifle with ODD is hardly going to be broken overpowered in vanilla (It's not like Perseus is anything particularly amazing is it?) I really can't see why community interaction like this would be a bad thing - he designed an Ariesto and CB liked it so they incorporated it into Infinity also.
Glossing over that last outburst... I am hoping for a budget enomotarchos option in the vein of a myrmidon officer or Perseus. Would love to see something sub 40 points. Hector style enomotarchos would be great to encourage more playstyles as well. Super excited for her release!
I guess it's the Mk.12, that thing is a bit expensive. It's still a difference through. BTW, is she not an enomotarkos ?
In O-12, and being a vanilla faction, it has no reason to be. I hope she will have it in ASS, however, at least able to link with thorakites. Problem is that mk12 + Nº2 + AD CCW seems to be 2 points more expensive than +2CC, +1PH, +1 Kinematics, superjump, EXP CCW and breaker rifle.... Then again, she might cost more in ASS, but I think no cross-faction character does.
