Model “A” double moves to engage enemy model “B”. Enemy model “B” deploys a mine as an ARO. Model “A” uses another order to perform a close combat attack against model “B”. Model “B” declares a dodge ARO.

Mine triggers, automatically hits both models, but model “B” can attempt to dodge the mine with -3 modifer. Correct?

    Nope.

A template that cover an engaged model, hits EVERY model engaged. The mine DO NOT trigger at all.

On the other end, if the Dodge is successful and model "A" moves again in contact, the mine DO trigger because there is a point in which "A" is not engaged.

So template weapons can never hit an engaged enemy model or just mines?

OTOH, in a 3+ player game, you can place a mine to fry every other player's model while engaged between themselves!

The paragraphs you mentioned use terms “affect” and “declare” in ways that can be interpreted in many ways. Designers intent isn’t clear.

To make matters even more complicated, mine trigger isn’t a BS attack.

I'm not sure who you're replying to, but all Templates into a combat affect everyone (no limits on declarations), and Mines say:
    • A Mine never triggers if the Small Teardrop Template also affects an ally, even if that ally is Unconscious.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had my doubts, but we luckily played it correctly.

Bonus question: Can you declare CC attack against a mine? (The attacker is obviously also engaging another enemy model to prevent mine from triggering)

In order to get into base contact with the enemy mine, you would have to Discover it first. Because it starts the game as a camo marker (and when it detonates it doesn't cancel that state.)

If you somehow manage to get into base contact with a discovered mine and another enemy model at the same time (in a non-staged game) or otherwise manage to kill a mine in CC, post proof and you will win tons of Internet Points.

Haha, defeat a mine in CC combat doesn't sound as the sharpest strategy, but I guess in some niche scenarios you could do it.

    Drop bears deploy non-camouflaged mines.

You could(?) also move into melee and simultaneously discover the newly deployed camouflaged mine. Or perhaps not. I’m not 100% sure when the mine camo token is actually put into game during order execution. It’s also not clear if you can actually engage a mine.

Then go for it! Just remember the enemy model won't stay still while you attack the mine. ;)

Oddly enough mine stays still even if its master is beaten unconscious. Some serious loyalty from a stack of explosives.

Now that I think about actually trying to move into base contact with a revealed mine, the mine just has to place the template so that it clips your volume. It's placing one end on its base, and angling the template almost straight up into the air would be a legal positioning of the template (to avoid covering any nearby friendly troopers or fellow equipment). :tada:

And Engaged is a state triggered by enemy troopers (see the FAQ concerning close combat against scenery items, for instance.). So there's no even the old forum argument about cancelling a template weapon by engaging the shooter.

Yes, but if the drop bear mine is deployed with ARO, it’s possible to engage an enemy trooper and be b2b with the mine at the same time (?). The mine wouldn’t never trigger because it would also hit the engaged friendly trooper because that’s the way how engagements and templates work.

Does CC attack require an engagement with an enemy trooper?

Thinking about it I don't see how you can get into b2b with an enemy mine without triggering it...
Maybe allowing perfect intent you could engage the model and say you place your model in b2b with were the mine will be placed; but if you are not going to attack in the second part of the order, you can instead get into b2b with the enemy overlapping with where the mine will get placed and just engage and deny the mine.

Yes against enemy troopers but engage is not a requisite of CC attack; you can attack a door for example.

You can cancel mine deployment by moving to their deployment spot?

Ok, mine is placed by an enemy trooper who remains in the vicinity, last order, your turn.
During your turn, amongst many other things you discover the mine, revealing it but do not disturb the enemy trooper who placed it or kill the mine.
On enemy turn, the mine-laying trooper moves a couple of inches, you reveal your hidden deployment trooper and "ARO engage", enemy attempts to punch you in the face and fails, where your engage succeeds (and doesn't trigger the mine).
Enemy is close enough to the mine that he elects to place you in base contact with it just for giggles.

I feel like making it happen.

Yeah. :(. That got settled a few weeks ago.
ARO Mine placement you need to declare where it’s going, but it won’t actually be placed there until the end of the order, after the enemy has a chance to walk over to that position.

On the bright side, that settles the question whether the active player can do anything at all to the the ARO deployed mine with “No, it’s not on the table yet.”

Needs an Ally to the mine (other than another mine, because both would trigger and Mines are removed from play when triggered) within 1" of the revealed Mine.

    Move close to the mine.
    Mine triggers.
Move into base contact with the mine and the mine's Ally while remaining in the template.
    Mine untriggers

Or, you need to have a synched civilian, sich as a HVT.
    Move towards the Mine.
    Mine triggers.
Move the civilian past the template and the trooper into contact with the mine.
    Mine untriggers.
