It is interesting to note that the Sirius canine doesn't appear to have any exterior weapons. Maybe it'll have a nanopulser or solely CC focused
What if we stopped looking at it like a dog and more as a gorilla? It's not very canine-ish, but primate, I can see. And from that point of view, it doesn't look as weird. Either way, I'll need this pack after if only for the gray haired lady. I have an idea for a character already.
The reason we are calling it a dog is because Sirius is also known as the "dog star" because it is the brightest point in the Canis Major constellation. Also, this is the description from CB: TEAM SIRIUS Team Sirius was conceived as a special K-9 team with synchronized robotic units. As the mythological hound they are named after, once this detective squad scents prey, they never give up on the trail; they are unrelenting. Team Sirius is fate coming for you with a badge and a gun!
Frankly it's easier to think of Andromeda's companion-bot as being a wolf and the Sirius Team's K9 unit as being a dog 'bred' for the purpose of being intimidating as all get out.
Damn, that O-12 stuff looks really good – I especially love the female in the Team Sirius, she's very professional looking. Now I just have to decide how to paint them.....
I mean, sure, name and concept-wise, it's a dog. But... design-wise, it does look more like an ape than a dog, don't you think?
Ever been around any mastiffs? Friend of mine has one. He's got a very distinctive 'crouch' he goes into when he sits but is still ready to run for something like a treat. That's what the Sirius looks like to me.
I'll probably darken them a bit with a nice marine blue to make them more commando. I'm also interested in the terrain. Any pics of that?
All in all the minis look damn good. I think both color schemes weren't the best pick. Shasvastii with that scheme is too similar to other CA armies. A bright jade green or neon green would be better and the gold trim on O-12 ain't worknig either. I like the O-12 helmet design...pretty unique.
The edges of the terrain are visible, gives a nice idea of durability to those. Really like the color schemes of both armies, I'm not sure I'll keep O-12's, but more because I'm not sure I'm a good enough painter to get those edge highlights and such xP. Shas I really like, but might do in a near black violet instead of straight up black. I'm mostly interested in CA minis for use in tabletop rpg's anyway. I feel like Hippolyta's Aristeia! outfit would be a better fit for Infinity and vice versa. I'm not thrilled about it, but I could make it work for a fantasy game I think, but its a freebie with preorder so I have no complaints. Valkryie, on the other hand, is great, can't wait to get her.
Highly suggest trying out GW's new "Corvus Black" base color. It's an 'off-black' color, with a bit of warmth to it. Would look amazing on Shasvastii armor plates IMO.
