I think starting the preorder 10 days before high quality pictures of the models are shown is a little silly. I'm excited for this box but I keep remembering I have to wait till next Monday to see good pictures of the models. I'm definitely not pre-ordering without those pictures.
Fair, although it's possible they have only recently disabled it. A couple of days ago it had different text on the store entry.
Right, but it's also possible that they didn't, considering the trailer and stuff says 'preorder 15th July - 4th August' or whatever date in Aug it ends.
When they went up there was no option to order, with most products showing available to order on the 15th.
There was a note on the Wildfire entry to "Order before August 5th to receive the preorder bonus!". Still doesn't change that the preorder is available via a lot of retailers as of now whether or not CB is holding it back themselves.
And none of that changes the fact that you don't have to order it before we've seen the models. Just wait til Monday if you want to see it properly first.
And none of that changes that they had some half-cocked "teaser" trailer that came out on June 28th announcing the July 15th date which could have actually been used to showcase the models instead of some spastically flashing artwork.

Agreed, though it may be the other online retailers are opening pre-orders early instead of this being CB running pre-orders before you can see hi-res pics.
To be honest I think the trailer dropped to help deal the model / box art leaks, because the trailer released just after those started to circulate. As for the gwailos render/sculpt itself... honestly looks great to me. Both of them do. It's just a little odd to get multiple versions of an AVA0 (1 in Shas) troop. :) I guess the gwailos will be a miniboss type enemy in Defiance then.
Ah good point. I get the teaser, but I still don't understand why it's up in the store and 3rd parties are already taking orders. Not a big deal, just seems funny.
My guess is lead times for distributors not lining up with marketing schedules, and CB not having sufficient clout to make distributors keep things quiet.
Also just in general that CB's preorders always seem kinda messy. There's always questions about whether X or Y is going to be available via shops.
