Hey all, I think most of us agree that the Spiral corp addition was not really the big addition or change in models we were hoping for such a long time. Spiral corps effectiveness as a separate army aside, I did little to change play style of the Tohaa themselves. Combined with the removal of most of the core models and the complete removal of any reference to Tohaa on the webstore left a really bad feeling with me. I thought they might just be re-releasing Tohaa finally as a starter set in wildfire. So I waited hoping but now that we have images of the set, it seems very clear that Tohaa is being killed off so O-12 can take its place. I know that Tohaa is a strong army still and that while the spiral options are weak in vanilla, they do offer some new play but whenever I go to make lists I just get bad vibes.

I don't want to add to the negativity but I want to see if other people are feeling this way and if we can help each other get excited again about the coolest space bros.

First at least the draal is extremly great in Tohaa and the Kriigel isn't bad either. The other profiles from sc in Tohaa are ok so wouldnt call them all weak.

But yeah I expect that they put Tohaa into NA2 because thats there we belong. We dont have sectors and wong get any anytime soon, we have fireteams (now even special fireteams) etc and fluff last I heard we are cut off mostly so yeah we became a minor power.

I still have fun with Tohaa but I am also pretty sure that for CB the future of Tohaa is SC...a na2...

    • Tohaa playstile changed after 3-4 years +1
    • 8 new profiles added +1
    • Some of those profiles, as @ChoTimberwolf says are super usefull +1
    • The new miniatures are great +1
    • Sectorial Tohaa into Na2 was no we wanted -1
    • Tohaa discontinued are not good news -1
    • We don't know what will happend with Tohaa on a future -1
    • CB doesn't seems to want to give explanations of the future of the Tohaa, for now, the Daedalu's gate is closed, how convinient -1

@Duront as you see, not all are bad news, the problem is, that the good news like miniature sculpts, gameplay, profile, do not amuse us a lot (When I say "us" I talk about the Tohaa fans), and we are not really amused because we love our faction, and it's going to Mordor while the other factions get more and more sectorials and Na2 keep stocking weird sectorials,

At the end is a hobby dude, the money I don't have to spend here I can spend it on other products (Not Aristeia thanks), not all your wallet money must go to CB, think about it ;)

Nice summary @melkiach most profiles from sc are actually really intresting and bring something new to the table even if they are the worst profile of the unit that exists in sc. So I am happy abouz the units we got with sc but yeah main problem I see is the message CB sends with it being na2 and our own profiles getting discontinued.
On the other side I am quite happy that I only spend around 50€ for infinity in the last half year...thats counting greating my own infinity table, getting the units I want from sc and some small stuff...

I'm very happy with additions from Spiral Corps. Three units are absolutely amazing: Taagma and Draal are auto includes in my two list pairings and Kriigel will make it to most of them. It's good to have the option of Impersonation and Kiel-Saan is interesting option for some missions (I love Red Furies).
We must remember that new profiles couldn't be pure, optimised awesomeness like Kaeltar, Makaul or Sukeul. Instead we've got more specialised choices with strenghts that are not as obvious until used on the tabletop.

With CB discontinuing most of the Tohaa lineup they have pretty much killed off Tohaa as a faction for any new players starting Infinity. The addition of the Spiral Corps added some interesting options and as others have said, a couple almost auto includes. Mostly it gave those of us who are Tohaa players some of the depth to our options we had been asking for.

I'm not sure why CB hates their Tohaa creation. From my perspective the Tohaa looked like a rich alien race they could have built all kinds of things from. You had an alien race that wasn't just a two dimensional good guy or bad guy alien race. They had inner conflict, secrets, and even a split within their race. CB never followed through with the Sygmaa after Only two units. Tohaa as a faction saw a massive slowdown after a couple years. It was obvious that CB saw Tohaa more as a part of a storyline to get the Combined Army into the Human Sphere than a Faction they wanted to invest time in.

I guess us Tohaa players should be happy that CB no longer wants our money. They gave us everything they wanted to give us and now it's up to us to keep the Tohaa alive in game. Thanks to my wallet's new found freedom I think I'm gonna go buy myself a new bike so I can start riding around with my son who is just starting to learn how to ride.

I still have my Tohaa army but I don't play them any more, I just don't feel like playing them any more, I'm still upset about the out come of the Tohaa faction, it will be a very long time before my Tohaa will see the light of day.

I don't see why this would ne a reason to not play the army anymore.
CB's ignorance for Tohaa aside, we are at an incredibly healthy state. We have an abundance of strong and versatile units, allowing us to play pretty much any playstyle on a competitive level.
We also have a lot of fun to play units.
The best thing about that is that, more often than not, our units are both fun to play and competitive.

It's hard to tell what's going to happen to Tohaa in the future, since CB sucks at being transparent, but I don't understand why anyone should be unsatisfied about the state of Tohaa right now.

As a brand new Tohaa Player (probably one of the last of my kind) I am still all hype.
With the addition of the spiral stuff (especially draal - all the weird rules combined in a single profile) and the rework of Symbiomates I was sold. Hearing they were discontinued I just HAD to catch em all.

It is kinda scary not to know what the future brings but even with the slight powercreep at the moment they should stay competetive for quite a while. Without feeling like the underdog, I mean.

I really look forward towards playing them more and finally being done painting the million belts around all their arms.

I'm in the same boat Jonas - I found a 300 point pack for cheaps a couple months ago and all of a sudden I now own the whole faction. About to start assembling them - they'll be my primary faction for ITS 11. Pretty stoked - maybe even moreso now that they're a dying race, heh. I like the "cut off from their supply lines" storyline, adds some additional character to the army.

I hear ya all. There was a 50% discount with nice Tohaa boxes, and I went frenzy...
Am I right in the mind that I started to like the look of the artichokes&co. recently? Especially those chaksas. They are so cool looking. And as there are more and more 'humans in space armor', I think it would be pretty sad if we would lose aliens in the process...

I mean CB Is a company that wants to make money. I love them but its easy to read between the lines. Tohaa weren't selling as well and so they want to manage their investment in maintaining the faction. Its the same thing they've done with other sectorials.

It's still a bit strange, especially after that they released Spiral Corps. And after years of 'Year of the Tohaa, hear it comes!' with no releases in significant numbers. Yes, we love CB, but they droped the ball pretty early with Tohaa. It's hard to sell if you don't put out products to buy. If we look up the statistics from 2014 and 2015, it seems to me that they had the opportunity to grow with Tohaa. Tohaa was quite popular amongst international players in 2015 and this playerbase showed significant growth between 2014 and 2015. How many Tohaa releases we had in 2015? 5, if I am not mistaken. In 2016? 3 and the 300p pack. They should have put out a Tohaa sectorial in 2016. Maybe, just maybe, they could have had a similar situation like ALEPH + Steel Phalanx in sales and popularity.

Note: My Opinions are my own, and I have no additional information than you do about sales numbers, game design choices or anything else like that as a Warcor. This is my own speculating and should be taken as just that.

In general I don't disagree. I think with the right support and rework Tohaa could be in a better place. That being said. Based on what we've seen I think the writing has been on the wall for at least 2 years now. And with the release of Spiral it seemed pretty obvious that most of it was a simple rework of Tohaa. It looks like Tohaa 2.0 just they didn't want to frame it as such or get rid of Tohaa after the backlash around JSA.

The issue is a bit of a moot point now. I dont think CB hates Tohaa I think they just had a different vision of what they were supposed to be then we did. And so when the product started to die out they made a decision to axe it to keep things simpler. It doesn't seem that hard to understand.

Either way we still have lots of units and fun lists to make and play so lets just rock it instead of worrying about it?

True. And maybe a little bit of time to recover will help both CB to gather creative energies and the community to adapt to the new situation.

I am not angry or anything that I pre-ordered the Spiral Corps box, on the contrary. Maybe, if the sales were good, we could have sent the message that Tohaa is still interesting.

CB still has the opportunity to make Tohaa miniatures, for instance, they could make a new Combined Army sectorial with the bulk of Sygmaa Trihedron units, test the waters, then retrofit some of them into the Tohaa comeback. That way the same models could serve two new sectorials easily, reducing development costs in the two alien factions.

As a brand new player only been playing a few weeks first i choose tohaa because i really liked the models, but now knowing they are kinda phasing tohaa out makes them really off putting to play knowing there will be no future releases or anything with them so im already thinking of swapping faction before i get in to deep wothbis a real shame honestly because i liked everything i was seeing with tohaa.

I hope Corvus releases at least the Greif Operator, as it works for Tohaa, Combined Army and Spiral.
Oh, and the Chaksa Longarms, because they are Chaksa.
