    Unless they're using Imperial dates...

Had to figure out which emperor's reign I was born in when filling out my non-resident alien paperwork.
"Showa? as a college student?" *hard look from clerk* (it was Heisei 23, most college students would have been born in Heisei 3-5, not 15 years before!)
"Yes, I'm going back to school. after working for a while"
    *'thats weird' look from clerk*

Day-Month-Year comes from the formal written style, "25th day of June, in the year of Our Lord 2019". MDY comes from the spoken style, "June 25th, 2019." YMD comes from using computers to sort files. The US military defaults to DMY, but written as 25JUN2019 (with or without spaces, depends on type of communication), with the month always in letters.

    Nope, that's for 2038.
Pretty much the same mistake people made with 2012

An article on a french website about the Cyberpunk 2077 board-game prequel describes it as follow:
    Which should be translated as:
'imagined as a role playing game with a RPG dimension"

Maybe they just payed too much attention to the heavy weapons section of the rulebook?

Personally I reckon we should just make the whole world work on epoch time...

I think we should just pick some arbitrary date in the far future and just count down to it. Let future generations freak out about the end of the world. Screw them anyway! Freeloaders! Building on our culture and sciences! What has the future ever done for us anyways!

A common standard "last date" in almost every database I have worked on is 12/31/2078

It always struck me as a bit ominous tbh

I suppose dated is a better descriptor than bad as it is has aged pretty well all things considered.

in other news i have learned that i will soon be breaking in boss number 6 as they let go boss number 5 this afternoon. He'd almost made it a year, and he'd just agreed to do my performance review after we got back from our summer shut down after the Fourth. I'm now assuredly looking for other employment can't get much worse than these chuckle-fucks.

There is a property that I once had a client try buying from the state highway dept. That was years ago. Every eighteen months or so someone gets hired, finds the request and gets started on it (I purposely left the year off of the request letters) , sends me a panicked "Sorry, we'll get on this" and then starts the ball rolling. None have ever lasted long enough in the job to get it to completion, but the request hangs around.

Among other disincentives to tourism in Muntab is the fact that their calendar counts down. It's probably not wise to be around to find out why

Because people got prepared, nothing major happened.

The one that was scaring my parents was actually 9/9/99. Back then, some database systems used a string of 9s as the "end of file" indicator. Dunno if any still do. Would have exploded any database system not patched before that date.

Yeah, but longest to shortest is a countdown. The ISO, or ILLUMINATI SECRET OVERLORDS to give them their REAL name, are saying that the world as we know it will end!

As soon as they can be bothered!

Basically every conspiracy about shadow governments kinda has to rely on them being lazy or inept because the more you think about it, it's the only way it makes any sense!
