How would you kit out your Taagma with 12xp?

I would definitely spend 8 points to get a HMG and 2 more to get Minelayer. The last 2 points is either an Akrylat Kannone or Martial Arts level 3. Just for fun.

I really like the Breaker Combi she already has,
so I'd just increase BS to 13,
add an X-Visor for range bands,
    Mimitism for defense,
and EXP-CCW (antimaterial) [or D-Charges, depending on mission].

    HMG 8
    X-Visor 4
Put it in a Tri-Core disguise it as something else...
You'll have no Negatives up to 48" +1 Burst and +3 BS...
    Suprise!

    BS 13 - 2 px
    Spitfire - 6 px
    MV N1 - 4 px

A good way to have a BS 13 spitfire in a tri-core without including Neema.

Unlike other armies/sectorials, where I tend to use the specops as an ultra-specialist, I would definetily use the tagmaa to fulfill something we lack : hmg

Hmg visor 1 would be the winner for me. In a tricore of course. And 0 cap!

My Thought exactly... We have MSV and MSV1 is good but not supreme...
But a very Reliable HMG that can control a long firelanes would be awesome...

MSV1 is a really good compromise. I’ve found MSV2 to be overkill most of the time.

MSV2 negates smoke. A huge advantage in my book.

I guess my meta has very little smoke. That or it never gets thrown where my msv2 model can see it.

Our meta is loaded with Ariadna. We load it with pesky little smoke-throwing shenangians.

But we only have MSV1 in spec-op... Unless Army's wrong again... which wouldn't be the first time...
The negatives on the hmd are never more than -3 which is why I like the idea of running an X-Visor it takes all the negatives away from the gun ranges itself... even if you run MSV-1 you still won't shoot through smoke

The thing about X-Visor is that in general you always want to be in +3 ranges. If you're using an X-Visor outside of some of the more powerful combinations (Suppressive, Templates) just to shoot further, you're already in a bad situation.

I can see using it to outrange a linked HRL, Panzerfaust, HMG, etc. Sure you're at +0 instead of +3, but they've dropped down from +3 to -3!

I like X Visor best with rifle-range weapons; in both active and reactive turns it gives models like Lasiqs just a little bit of extra threat in what would otherwise be a really bad range band for them. I'm sad that in Combined I can't take an X Visor to pair with a plasma weapon.

Notice that I was reacting to the remarks of @Henshini stating MSV2 is an overkill. I am not saying MSV1 is bad (negating the -3 MOD for lower levels of CH is never a bad thing), but it's not the real thing. MSV2 is never overkill because this equipment negates smoke.
Regarding X-Visor: I found this most useful to SF mode (Yes, I'm looking at you, Ryukens!), because Spitfires and the like will not shoot your SF trooper to shreads that easily in the 16-24 range.
Hence I am pretty sure 8 points for HMG and 2 points for Minelayer are both good investments on this platform, not that sure regarding the remaining 2 points...

If we had MSV2 is say that for sure...
    But even in a bad range it's still 0, +3 for Tri-Core...
My reasoning for not running Minelayer is that sort of control is pretty dominant in Sprial Corps with 4 units (9 total AvA) you can bring plenty...
Of those 4, 2 can infiltrate, 1 has FwrdDeploment 1( counts as 2 in ITSX) 3 have FwrdDeploment 2 and 6 can be in a Tri-Core...
But a good HMG is completely missing... I find Easy camo spotting not as valuable as a Burst 5 +3 HMG hunting unit able to hit 5Xs on 15s at 48"
