I bent the Wulver's arm so he is now vertical, far easier to transport. He's not seen any play since I got the (frustratingly hard to assemble) box of 4 though.
I hear you...even with newer models I sometimes feel the need to throw stuff out of the window from frustration. Red Veil Sniper was a real good example...damn that thing was hard to assemble.
Ah, yes, the 'stumbling drunk' Wulver. I'm working on a conversion with him leaning against a lamp-post with empty alcohol bottles around his feet. Vodka, Jack Daniels, Absinthe, and whatever the super-cheap nasty alcohol of Scotland is. Boot-to-head guy is fine, there is a pic in the N1/N2 books of him kicking an Aguacile in the face. The girl doing the handspring is a bit goofy.
I throw this thing in the ring for bad poses. For a model that stands behind cover in 99,9999% of the time, you have the choice to: a) Turn it 180° and remind your opponent on every ARO b) Bend or cut of the sniper rifle c) Glue it with its right leg on the edge of the base d) Paint the visibility arc sideways And don't come up with the umbra, that thing has superjump and does a lot of moving around to justify the pose.
To each his own...I personally really like the HaiDao sniper pose as he stalks/strolls into position confidently.
Why do people say the Haidao sniper is an ARO piece? The games where he's been useful for me he's been moving around. And there's so many models with worse poses for needing No Clip active...
I like the pose from an optical standpoint too, but I don't like it in my Zhanshi Core where its purpose is to stand behind cover and provide AROs.
Uh no. The Umbra is "a bad pose" because it's horribly balanced, doesn't fit on the base it was provided with, and is generally just not a well designed gaming piece. It's what everyone claims some of the bigger GW pieces are. You take that back! Model is fantastic, just bend the arm slightly and he's clearly just vaulted the cover to take shelter from incoming fire. Slight update with regards to this: Not only was there a new Fleshtone as a Base paint, but there was also a few new Layers that play into painting up darker fleshtones without making them look offensively cartoonish. "Bloodreaver Flesh" is a darker pseudo-North African fleshtone while "Knight Questor Flesh" is a Mediterranean fleshtone.
Pics? Oh, cool! I swear that about a third of my paint collection is various flesh-tones, and the quickest way to get me to buy more paint is flesh-tones!
The Haidao sniper actually has a respectable pose; its simple and its serious. Its unfortunate the sniper rifle doesn't conform to the dimensions of the base, but there are a lot of models in infinity that have a hard time getting into base with cover due to some weapon or body part preventing it from happening. Thats why we have intent.
Intent? Little dude, not in this thread, por favor. The Hsien HMG fits nicely on a 40mm base. I have a photo somewhere... ..here Nice and safe from incidental damage. Too bad it's not actually playable on such a base. :( The Haidao looks like it would do better on a 40mm base in order to protect it. Less likely to get the droopy barrel syndrome. And the Yu Jing ladies do dislike a droopy barrel. Normally caused by too much tofu, which contains soy... Now, Biltong is soy free. Just Sayin'
