I'm a relatively new player, some 30 games begind my belt and I've seen assault hackers twice, one being a game against a friend who knew he was going to face my Tik. And when I do see the AHD or just a regular hacker I'm usually pretty happy about getting an easy target for my KHD Naga (I bring two in most of the games I play).

The best uses of AHDs isn't to park in KHD range, but to keep the AHD safely hidden and then reveal / utilize at a time when it will do the most damage. This tends to be from Hidden Deployment when your opponent doesnt have a lot of Orders to reposition their KHD, or using a Pitcher / Deployable Repeater to precisely target your TAG while staying away from defensive KHDs. Timing and use on AHDs has to be perfect, otherwise they aren't a big threat.

Round 4. Power Pack. Aleph. (no idea what the ITS name was)

Okay, the old power pack against Vanilla Aleph.

Teucer deploys as my data tracker far left on a low rooftop.

The engineer holds behind him, covering against AD. The Naga Hacker sets up behind Teucer.

My Regular link, Doctor, and Tikbalang castle on the far right. Dart sets up a little bit ahead of them.

Teucer ends up across from Achilles, a myrmidon officer, a naga hacker.

The regulars are faced off against a paid of dakinis, a second naga, a flash pulse bot, and a posthuman hacker.

    Turn 1.

Here comes Achilles! He drops off the xenotech, and rushes into the central objective room.

A posthuman sniper appears on a huge rooftop, making the diagonal LOF to my sniper at 35”. But she gets hit in ARO by the stub BM sniper...and passes both saves. (Jeez).

The naga hacker advances, capping an objective on my left, and the second naga does the same for the objective on my right.

Achilles opens up on the BM sniper, and drops her before entering SF mode.

Teucer attempts to engage the posthuman and loses, stranding my xenotech.

The trauma doc picks up the BM sniper (with a command token, mind you) the link reforms, and the BM eventually kills the blasted posthuman. (I’m unclear on sequencing here. At the end of the day, the posthuman is dead, but so is the Bagh mari, trauma doc, and regular medic)

The Tik engages the right flank Naga, killing him, then lights up Achilles, forcing the wound, and making him drop prone.

    Turn 2.

A dakini medic moves up to cover the right flank objective.

Achilles engages the Tik without effect, the myrmidon moves up behind achilles.

The tikbalang puts the hit on achilles, and drops the right flank dakini, finishing near mid board.

The naga hacker can’t engage the left objective due to a mine (from the aleph naga) so slides across to the right objective, eating a long, long range aro wound from the posthuman naga.

    Turn 3.

The aleph naga posts up at center covering the middle objective, he’s joined by a second dakini. The myrmidon hacker covers the right flank, stopping the machinist from considering a run.

    (It’s currently Aleph 2 consoles, SAA 1)

Here we go. The Tik just needs to clear two aros, dismount the crab, and go stand near the HvT.

The Tik rounds the central building, kills the last posthuman, and spends 4 orders trying to kill the naga and dakini. Flame, HMG...all bounced.

He finally gives up on the classified, and scuttles the crab bot in on the game's last order. I need to pass a wip 12 roll.

    It’s a 7. (phew)

    Results.

    Minor victory. 5-3

Man, The Tik’s inefficiency dashed any hope at a major. I’m just happy the crab pulled it out for the minor.

That posthuman sniper really slowed me down, but that’s par on a bowl shaped table that gives snipers free reign.

I misplayed teucer when I should have done the revive- shoot with the BM first. That would have let teucer deposit the xeno, then shoot nagas.

Ah well. Win is a win, and it was a fun game.

    Overall.

1 major, 1 draw, 1 loss, and 1 minor was good enough for 4th place, and best painted.

Not a bad showing for some pretty rusty play.

Here are my final thoughts on the lists.

    1. GDA was a stud.

    2. List 2 didn’t really need the doc, but I also didn’t draw a single medical classified. Kinda hard to say.

    3. I got sloppy and unlucky with the Tik. One of those I can fix.

    4. The Akal combi/ emitter was great in both games. It was a matter of picking good targets.

I’m still finding the 11-13 orders to be my sweet spot with shock army. Despite a couple of big errors,
both lists were capable of winning their games.

That being said, I’ll be jigging some better efficiency into the Tik list.

    Thanks for reading!

How did you do the helmeted head on the Fusilier? Is it a head swap with a Regular? Or did you find an appropriate head from a third party?

Well, way, way back in the day, the very first PanO starter box had a helmeted Fusilier as the Starter-unique model:

The other option is the Indigo Spec-Ops:

No, no - I meant the Regular-style helmet, not like an Auxilia or Bagh-Mari helmet - but it is an interesting thought for making some unique Fusiliers.

Ah, okay - I was afraid that might be the case. With the distinct lack of Acon Boxes floating around these days, that is not a trivial conversion to execute anymore.

Yeah, I'd missed the Regular-style helmets.:fearful: Must need to go to the doc and get my eyes checked!

I think I've seen some modern helmets available separately from Empress Miniatures, but those will look best on Ariadna minis.

For Rescue there is no single greater option than the Tikbalang.

For Tic-Tac-Toe you want as many Specialists as you can get, and want them to be as fast as possible. Take both Nagas as specialists and a Pathfinder. And take Dart to hunt down and murder your opponents midfield.

Building to those two missions will give you two viable options for Safe Area which you can use depending on table and matchup.
