Hello everyone! Quite recently, I've started playing Infinity, with the MAF being my sectorial of choice for now. I already had the opportunity for some games with my local group, and have liked what I've seen from my ape boys so far. Now, I'm looking into expanding my forces, especially with my sights on a small local tournament that's coming up and which I might enter - there's quite some new players in it, so it should bring some opportunites to further my understanding of the game. With this in mind, I've fumbled around with Infinity Army quite some, and seem to have finally figured out a list that I like. Regarding this, I'd like very much to hear any critique and feedback all you more skilled and experienced folk would have to offer. 1 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 SOGARAT (Full Auto L2) Feuerbach / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 67) RAKTORAK Vulkan Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) SURYAT (Fireteam: Haris) Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (1 | 38) SURYAT MULTI Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 41) ANYAT K1 Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Smoke Grenades, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) RAKTORAK Combi Rifle + Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) MORAT (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) 2.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army My thoughts on the list: The force is comprised of three fireteams, making use of all different options that are available. The Sogarat and the Vulkan Raktorak are a Duo, Kornak and the two Suryats are a Haris, and Anyat with her three Vanguards and a second Raktorak is Core. There's three models - Anyat and the two Raktoraks - who are Specialist Operatives, thus hopefully making me flexible in achieving scenario objectives, of which there will be some. I would want to use the Duo with the Sogarat in lead to press forward, using the Feuerbach in the first turn and then possibly getting into close enough range for the Assault Pistol. If the table were to be set up in a way to not facilitate this, the Duo could also become defensive, setting the Feuerbach up as an ARO piece. The Haris, due to not having a Specialist included, would be used as the middle part of the group, pushing ahead, but staying behind the Duo or going up a different path. It should, I estimate, be a nice anchor with Suppressive Fire. The Core, then, would mostly be there to generate orders, only carefully trying to get the two Specialists into position, or maybe offering AROs or Suppressive Fire. There seems to be a certain lack of defence, should I not have the first turn - in the past, I've gotten to make quite an experience with an enemy charging across the board on the first turn and taking down two of my models. Sadly, I don't really see a way to remedy this, other than maybe clump the force together during deployment, so there'd be multiple AROs waiting for any foolhardy charger. Is this plan sound? Are there glaring flaws that I've not seen, or aspects that I've missed? Thank you very much, and kind regards
I don't have time to do a detailed critique, but 3 things jump out right away: The first is that you should know the missions going into a tournament so that you can tailor your list. List makeup depends fairly heavily on the mission. The second is that you do not need the Suryat with the Haris skill because Kornak already has it... ...which brings me to point 3, your lack of SWC usage. With the swap from Haris Suryat to normal Suryat, you are only using 1.5 SWC and all of that is on one heavy weapon. I'd try to find the points to upgrade some of your Vanguard or Suryats with HMGs or Launchers.
Thank you, mate. Regarding points 2 and 3, I've made some changes to the list. 3 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 1 SOGARAT (Full Auto L2) Feuerbach / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 67) RAKTORAK Vulkan Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) SURYAT HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 45) DĀTURAZI Chain Rifle, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 14) ANYAT K1 Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Smoke Grenades, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) RAKTORAK Combi Rifle + Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) MORAT K1 Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21) MORAT HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 22) MORAT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) 5.5 SWC | 296 Points Open in Infinity Army The set-up remains the same, with a Duo, a Haris, and a Core. The Duo is unchanged, but I'm hoping the Daturazi can add flexibility to the Haris. The Core now has two additional special weapons. I do know what missions will be played, but haven't really found them to be all that different from each other - two rely on objective control, while the third is a killbox-scenario, in my estimation. If re-tailoring of the lists mid-tournament were allowed (which I'm not sure of), then maybe I should drop the Raktoraks for the scenario without objectives, and add more raw firepower? Overall, I value all-round forces highly, so I'd very much like to just see how one well-crafted lists fares in all situations. Any further critique is very welcome!
Unfortunately your Haris in the updated list is illegal. When making link teams, the teams are supposed to be comprised of the same troop type (Not counting special rules such as Raktorak with wildcard, or exceptions such as Anyat counting as a Vanguard and Kornak being able to special fireteam with Suyrats). Hope that helps! Any reason to keep the list to 10 models?
Remove the K1 sniper, it's a horrible weapon. Swap to a missile launcher for ARO duty. Side-grade Daturazi to vanguard and move the Raktorak to the Suryat/Kornak team (downgrade, really, but you need the other vanguard). Then use the remaining points to upgrade the HMG Surtat to the TacAwareness one. You should still have a point or two left over.
I see the error regarding the Haris' composition - while I've read the rules, I've certainly not yet ingrained everything. Thank you for pointing this out. There's no reason to keeping it to 10, really - just that I haven't found a way to incorporate more and still have enough orders for every team. Or maybe I'm mistaken in this and don't actually need total flexibility with orders. Very nice! I've landed at 295/6. This iteration of the list seems more well-rounded - thank you very much for your help, mate!
Morat Aggression Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 SURYAT (Tactical Awareness) HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 48) RAKTORAK Vulkan Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) SURYAT (Fireteam: Haris) Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (1 | 38) SURYAT Heavy Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 39) ANYAT K1 Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Smoke Grenades, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) RAKTORAK Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 26) MORAT (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) GROUP 2 1 1 OZNAT Combi Rifle + Light Smoke Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 18) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Basically your first list, but slightly optimized for points and mindgames with link composition. Suryat Haris allows you to recombine links easily, and deploy in various combinations, like Haris of Suryats + Core of Vanguards with Treitak, while hiding Kornak somewhere. Or you can go with a haris of TacAwa Suryat HMG + Kornak + Suryat w/ Deflector and a core of HRL Suryat + Treitak and two Vanguards + Red Fury Raktorak, while Vulkan Raktorak goes button pushing and FO Vanguard is on photo duty. Or you can Duo Raktoraks as any Duo Fireteam (Sogarat duo consisting of two wildcard troopers xD) and go with a core of 3 Vanguards + Treitak + one of good Suryats... And Oznat is here to chuck some smoke, just in case you need it somewhere away enough from Treitak. On the other hand, the second combat group is pretty bad - you can get two orders cut if you go first, so the alternative would be something like this: Morat Aggression Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) SURYAT (Tactical Awareness) HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 48) SURYAT (Tactical Awareness) HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 48) SURYAT (Tactical Awareness) HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 48) RAKTORAK Vulkan Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) ANYAT K1 Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Smoke Grenades, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) RAKTORAK Combi Rifle + Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) MORAT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) MORAT (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army This is just stupid (but extremely funny). You get a Core (Kornak+3 Suryats+Raktorak) with three free orders on three HMGs, an Mk12 for medium range shooting and either a Vulkan shotty or a heavy flamer for close quarters protection. And the rest of the group can go be roadblocks, button pushers (Treitak and Raktorak are spec. operatives, and Vanguards Paramedic and FO count as specialists) or something else. Or you go your standart core of Treitak+3 Vanguards+Raktorak, haris Kornak+2 Suryats and duo Suryat+Raktorak =) You can downgrade one of the Suryats to a HRL one, but that would be 7-9 points just wasted (if you don't want to get the second combat group).
Try this link if you haven't already. http://infinitythewiki.com/en/List_of_Fireteams#Morat_Aggression_Force
Kornak can make the haris link option with any suryat, he have the haris skill yet, so don't need to switch the suryat haris. Also a raktorak can be linked on all fireteams, he are Wildcard troop. Also you can form a regular haris or core options with only suryats, with the haris profile +2 regular suryats, Kornak is the free key to unlock the cost and skills forming the special haris. So: Morat Aggression Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 3 RAKTORAK Vulkan Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) SURYAT (Tactical Awareness) HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 48) 2 SWC | 111 Points Open in Infinity Army This is legal. Anyat, counts as a Vanguard troop, and she can make the core options, bcs she have the skill too, just only with Vanguards and added the special options: any suryat+raktoraks. Your list are OK and legal, mate. Don't worry. Upgrade the suryat HMG to the TA profile, this haris can get a free 5th order. You have the 3pts left to do this. GL&HF!
You should get your local tournament details and continue the thread with the missions. You might need to be preparing the righe tool for the jon so to speak. Don't underestimate your lowly Vanguard Core when they can be humping a big link bonus to a a TA HMG Surat or Anyat.
Thank you for the continued input. I'll hopefully be able to give the list a spin this weekend to see how it handles.
Just refining a few of your ideas should get this list: Turnier-Versuch 3 - Rework ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 SOGARAT (Full Auto L2) Feuerbach / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 67) RAKTORAK Combi Rifle + Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) SURYAT (Tactical Awareness) HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 48) RAKTORAK Vulkan Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) ANYAT K1 Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Smoke Grenades, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) MORAT HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 22) MORAT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) MORAT Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 19) MORAT (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) 6 SWC | 298 Points Open in Infinity Army As above, you'll get better results building a list tailored to particular missions. This has a good range of gunfighter units and *some* ARO presence but may struggle against some aggressive attacking armies. Don't cover the full table, just important corridors of advance, ideally intersecting at the mid-table rather than an opponents deployment zone. Some daturazi for CC/DTW/Smoke would be helpful, you could drop a Raktorak in the duo for one and play around with the Vanguard profiles.
