I'm working on my next tournament list and I want to try a list with a strong midfield : lots of skirmisher, mines and crazy koala (so my oponent spent a lot of time dodging or moving far around my camo) I want to try it in my next tournament (tic tac toe, supremacy, rescue) but the main goal is to have an all comer list Midfield test ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 INTRUDER HMG, Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 6) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Heckler KHD, zero KHD and moran FO bring plenty of specialist for mission Intruder HMG locks down a firelane in active Intruder Sniper with expable morlock brings a good mix of ARO/active 10 camo marker including 3 mine and an expandable libertos bring a good shell game (the idea being to space the mine and crazy koala to avoid 1 WB detoning them all) 3 morlocks can be devastating in a first turn rush (depending on the table) or provide a lot of smoke to do objectives or shoot with intruder What's your opinion ? What will you change while staying the list theme of camo/midfield/deployable pain in the ass
It's a little short on button pusher, but perhaps you play the Moran in a different way then I. They are usually prone on a rooftop to give me a repeater network, but you have neither a HD+ nor an AHD. The two intruder are nice, but I take always a Jaguar if my Morlock die unlucky. If I play a vanilla Nomad Camo Spam it would be a LI list. And I don't think the MSR Intruder is a good ARO piece. With your given requirements, it's hard for me to find a list.
Perhaps use some cheap MI like Wildcats or Hellcats in Midfield (Forward deployment) to get some DTW against enemy Rambos?
Hellcats don't have DTW. The spread of deployables looks alright to me actually it shouldn't get too bunched.
I play moran as button pusher with crazy being an ARO bonus (and in my usual list : white noise giving them an easy way to take objectives an not caring of MSV ARO) Heckler is formidable against enemy rambo : E/Marat is very efficient at isolating them. I even thought about running two of these heckler but I need a second KHD more. Did you try the wildcat to bring some midfield DTW ? I'm affraid of them getting shot long range or being "exchanged" with WB Against mine or crazy (or both) ?
Both mate, they can grab either. If they've got sensor/sniffer or just plenty of spare orders for discovering, they can soon make those disposables work against you. They're not that common but you need to prepare for it if you're going deep on deployables, also kill the hell out of palbots/zonbots etc. They're a very common minefield clearance tool lol
Why Heckler KHD ? I prefer Combi rifle/Jammer/Fast Panda version ( Jammer OP ) + KHD Interventor ( but I will admit I mostly use HD+ LT Interventor nowadays ) hidden on some rooftop. This is usually more than enough to deal with enemy hackers, considering you have Morans to provide deep Repeater coverage. I actually think Heckler KHD is one profile you should not use in Vanilla Nomads, ever.
frees up a zero to be something else like a minelayer or assault hacker. also it's the only heckler than can re-enter a marker state which allows to make a real mess with its assault pistol when there are no enemy hackers left.
Because he is a good button pusher (don’t need KHD for defense as I don’t have an interventor lieutenant to protect). He is barely 3 points more than a zero khd but bring better BS, different treat range for mine and better weapon in the 0-20 range. The choice between him and a zero specialist depends of what i want to do with my list. As i needed a zero to be minelayer, heckler was the only choice left for a forward specialist KHD Him or interventor KHD don’t have the same use. I don’t think interventor khd is good at pushing button or second wave offense. What do you think ?
Personally, I would take Mary Problems. She is a straight upgrade to the Heckler KH and brings a few other useful tools, so I would try to free up the points for her. E-Warden a few pages up did it too. The arguments for the Heckler are solid, and as always it depends on the rest of the list and to personal preference. The Interventor KH dies nothing for me for example. If you have Intruders that extra Camo Marker from the Heckler can help disguise it, so there certainly are situations where the Heckler brings utility the others don't have too.
I'm not a fan of the intruder. The smoke and white noise is to get the missions done. Killing is over rated. In my early days it was a staple and can definitely to some work but when the glass Canon dies from a shock crit it hurts a lot. I rarely play a spectre sniper too but did for this tourney. Tested the list yesterday, here is the feedback : In tic tac toe against Ramah : I got beaten in the firepower department but the massive amount of camo marker/crazy made my opponent loose a lot of time turn 1 and 2 dealing with them. The game ended round 2 with 4 antenna (incl 1 line) for me and 2 for my opponent. Intruder HMG was killed first order of my first turn to bad luck ARO. Win for me In supremacy against shavasti : my opponent played a 10 order list with 4 TO marker (hidden), 6 camo marker (incl 2 ambush and 1 mine form speculo), and 2 speculo. Sacrifiable troop (morlock, libertos) are good to get the impersonnation detected and so they did nothing except loose me a few order. Intruder HMG was once more lost to a bad roll. My opponent played pure defense (taking out just enough TO out of hidding each turn to have a draw). He ended up with his list wipped out but the game was a draw In rescue against Correguidor : Once again the intruder was lost to a bad roll (sig). Massive amount of mine and crazy prevented my opponent to reach his civilian while my datatracker moran took one hidden by the morlock smokes (the run back to my DZ. Win for me. So, I'm thinking I need one more high burst weapon to have a back up in case of bad roll on the intruder. Intruder sniper is good but B2 is very luck dependant and many defensive weapon are not very range sensitive. I will have to roll some test to see how better is the intruder sniper compared to a second intruder HMG (or maybe a taskmaster red fury if I can do some more tweaking, advantage : more crazy koala, good data tracker, high burst weapon on a more resilient platform).
