@Triumph you may believe whatever you believe and you have the right to your opinion, but you play one way and expect everybody to follow your opinion and no other, that is not how it is. The fact you do not accept my opinion does not make it invalid, actual results show that Yu Jing performance did not change negatively without the JSA units, actually iirc Yu Jing do better this year in tournaments but need to actually check it, the broader discussion about Ninjas was, if you remember, that while they do not monofilament kill they can still kill tough units (with more orders) and be specialists. Now on the topic at hand, Krit brings a few things, chaincolt is a nice deterrent for 1W CC units, he is a 2W linkable engineer instead of a 1,5W is better protected from hacking attacks than the Haidao and you may want all 3 of your Haidao for other reasons than been your HI engineer, Automedikit means your doctor (if you have managed to fit her in) can worry for other things than reviving him and brings a nice Feuerbach to the link team. minelayer can be used to protect your own link team from enemy minelayers and isolating an alpha strike unit never hurts. Is he expensive? maybe? is he the unit you wanted, probably not, is he useless? I do not think so.
Do you really prefer an auto medit to heal this overcosted unit over a dr. Who can roll better and use command tokens? Is that a risk you are willing to take?
Doctor rolls the same, can use command tokens, needs to reach the location, is line infantry, can have servants, its a 50/50 on what is better and if a doc can fit in the list.
I've finally figured out what the Krit is good for. Its the model every new Dahshat player has been waiting for. A single blister Zuyong that can be proxyed as any Zuyong out there. Great times for Dahshat indeed!
I see Krit as a Haris option when we don't have a Daoying to use Tai NCO. A Feuerbach is a good weapon, remember about our Zuyong haris, it have TacAw, so it can advance faster than a regular haris, and the Feuerbach have a longer range and more damage than the MK12. Is a good option? We should try it first to get a better point of view.
This is a tautology for all units in Infinity. It is literally impossible to make a useless units while paying at least some lip service to CB's point system. What we mean with "useless" is that a model/unit a) Doesn't bring anything new to the table that another available model doesn't already do in sufficient quantity b) Costs so much that it has too many consequences in building the rest of the list where you to bring the model or c) A sufficient mix of the two above as to strongly discourage you from using it In the case of Krit I can safely say that even people outside of the forum echo chamber have received it poorly. Personally I would say a) can be mitigated or possibly removed if FTO limitations were removed due to the simple fact that a Daoying can really use a decoy Marker and Krit simply doesn't have the gear or skills required to operate on his own for such an expensive model.
So your issue is that you want profile A but in a fireteam? Edit Or you want all profiles to had minelayer and e/mauler?
I just took a 7th place at a 80-people satellite event with vanilla YJ and felt comfortable playing against most factions. It can still field a lot of orders, 6-7 chain rifles in deployment, there are camo skirmishers (puts it heads above ISS imo but thats my playstyle), Rui Shi and Hac Tao. Daiyoing hacker and Libertos are amazing additions, the former effectively nullifying most LT hunting strategies, especially specfiring from across the map and the latter being able to kill most things in the game for astonishingly low price.
What I want is vastly different from what Krit is, but simply removing the FTO restrictions would be the absolutely minimum change required to make Krit be an expensive extra life insurance for a Daoying and also function as a filler inside a Fireteam within the sectorial. This would create an argument for Krit's existence without creating an optimised profile. As the profile currently is, I don't see such an argument have merit. Giving all of his profiles Minelayer and E/Mauler is a first step towards optimising the profile.
YJ can be competitve, but it is NOT one of the easy armies. Which is pretty sad, because YJ used to be one of the easy armies! The problem is, that makes a self-reinforcing downward spiral. Fewer people play YJ, so there is less testing to make good things for YJ, fewer good things mean fewer people play YJ, repeat until no-one plays YJ. I'd also drop the Automedikit, that's 4pts that the Invincible Army cannot afford to spend!
Like I wrote, if I were to keep it as close to the core concept as possible, dropping FTO restrictions. If I were to go a bit more wild and crazy; drop the combi rifle (keep E/Mitter) and trade them in for ODD, change D-charges to E/Maulers, reduce CC to same level as Zuyong, and up the FTO-restricted profile to FD2. Yes, that changes how he works a bit, but adds value to the skirmisher profile (which in my head cannon is the "smuggler profile"). Yes, keep the Automedikit - if I were to make it useful instead of being mostly a price increase, he'd almost immediately become a Shang-Ji character, but I think if he's interesting enough it can be an acceptable points increase.
What makes your opinion invalid is you constantly dribble nonsense out of your ass without backing it up with anything at all. The discussion around the Oniwabans was that they scare the enemy and restrict movement because of their utter lethality and losing them put Vanilla YJ in a bad spot as they relied on the boogeyman to make up for what was at the time, a bad ARO presence. To which you brilliantly postulated that Ninjas performed the exact same job and we were worried about nothing. That's what the discussion was about, stop trying to revise that. I told you the following last year and nothing has changed: You refuse to engage with the concept that CB can ever ever make a mistake, I'm honestly surprised you haven't popped into the Zhayedan thread to preach about how good they are. @Mahtamori has already been over why this is utterly irrelevant. Wrong. Doctors roll on 13s, Automedkit rolls on 12 on Zuyongs. Automedkit is a 40% chance to waste your order and kill yourself. Doctor with 1 reroll is 88% chance to succeed. There is a big difference there and why the Zuyong Automedkit isn't highly regarded. Check the other thread if you want that discussion people are already going over it.
The issue here is he, as a Minelayer, cannot be in a Link Team. T: That, or until CB hires a YJ/HI fanatic for a tester. T: 1. Make all the profiles linkable as a Zuyong. 2. Drop the E/Mitters for actual D-Charges and an upgrade to a better gun. Best case wishlisting would make me ask for a marksman rifle: it's unique for Yu Jing and makes his Heavy Pistols feel a lot more useful. That's just my two cents though, trying not to leave his design core too far.
Hello. Does he have to be an engineer exclusively? Would it be possible that he could either bring an engineering set up or a doctoring set up depending on the load out? or is that impossible? Because if the point values were reasonable, the dilemma of choosing which combo of specialists to bring into your Zuyong fireteam could be interesting. Haidao Killer hacker or engineer? Krit doctor or engineer. One set up would leave you vulnerable to hacking but give you the tools to heal or engineer isolated/immobilized models. Another set up would allow players to be able to avoid hacking and immobilization but wouldn't be able to heal models. I think that the diversity could allow for some interesting player choice. But i'm not a game tester. So i don't know. thank you for time and for engaging with the community :)
Considering the first thing we heard about him is that he'll be an Engineer, I suspect he will remain one as that's part of his actual character. But that's just my suspicion.
