For what it's worth, I'd still probably use Krit, but in all honesty, I can say that about more or less every unit that appears whenever you filter for HI, and I sure as hell am no arbiter of good decision making either. T: I personally still fail to see the synergy beyond being an Engineer in a link and, well, the links specialist. Though don't get me wrong, if that Minelayer is available in Vanilla, I can see some uses for him there. It's cutting it a bit close, don't you think? It wouldn't surprise me actually, considering that I have a sneaking suspicion YJs general popularity is on the decline either way. So fewer testers would make sense in that aspect. I still fail to see the merit of the linkable Combi. Linkable Feuerbach... maybe. It's a specialist with a big gun in a link. That can have some merit I'd suspect. Maybe non-Zuyong Core lists will be more accepting to him in Harises or just as a solo Minelayer, who knows? Pretty sure this unit did get sent into the ER the moment they accidentally leaked the store description of it. And to be fair, even if YJ did get a buncha new and cool stuff, there'd be no guarantees they'd be ''competitive.'' All the really good and competent players might still not like the faction in general and just predominantly pick others. I can't imagine having most of your tools in the HI role to be appealing to them, for one. As for why good players pick certain factions disproportionately more often is a discussion for another day and another sodium chloride rich post. T:
You're talking to the guy who swears Ninjas do the same thing as Oniwabans and that Uprising had no impact on the Vanilla players. He demonstrates on a regular basis that he doesn't know what he's talking about and his only purpose in posting is shilling stuff, I wouldn't bother taking anything he says seriously.
The bit that bites the most is I'm pretty sure they've put a hand adjusted points discount on these profiles and he's still overly bloated as shit. Breaking it down he's paying 4-5pts for the E/Mitter, E/Mauler, Chain Colt, Courage, Kinematica 2, and Engineer. I'm fairly sure they've shaved 2-3 points of his profile and he's still a fucking mess. I think someone needs to find whoever is obsessing over the formula, how much stuff costs, slap them in the face, and explain that your stupid formula doesn't make up for shit unit design. They need to take a step back and fucking design the model to do a job in a list and figure how many points that should cost. Not the current approach of throw a bunch of shit rules like Kinematica 2 and Automedkits together, discount it, and then pray to god they haven't fucked it up. I just wanted to make another point while we're here, (Vanilla) Yu Jing isn't bad at AROs anymore. We added a well costed MSV2 sniper to our kit (with smoke support), expanded options to improve our camo snipers and mid field minelayers, and we still get access to bonus TR bots.
We're not the best either, but it's definitely no longer objectively fair to say that YJ has no ARO presence. Especially since I forgot to mention we got a huge buff for the world's most annoying Warcor in the form of Sun Tze.
I think Triumph is a bit of a loudmouth and unnecessarily abrasive, but he's right about Krit. There's no reason to spend 40 to 50 points on a walking e/mauler. If Krit were a doctor I would strongly consider bringing him along in my Zuyong core, as an Automedikit on a linkable doctor is very interesting synergy. But in his current state he's a novelty at best, and I just don't see myself using him. It's a shame, his model is pretty cool.
Frankly I feel Krit as a makeshift profile, not much tested nor been thought over. Honestly, the feeling is more like 'Well, we made a good model. Lets just cram in all the goodies and see what happens on the field!'
If its for the rules and profiles, I can say that I won't be playing IA. This profile is no exception.
I would agree. The amount of points padding indicates to me they were worried the profile would rock balance of sectorial enough that the needed to make sure he'd be expensive enough to ensure the trade off would be too high. I mean, he's even got an increase in CC by 1 ffs. If it weren't for Speculos, I'd argue AMK should be only 1 point equipment due to functionality of them. For the amount of points AMK and Regeneration costs I would expect them to have something funky going on such as automatically triggering at start of a turn or being able to spend a CT to auto-succeed or something.
Well we've been told there's at least one, and given his alleged response on the Hulang in IA, we all know he's an idiot. So the outcome isn't that much of a surprise really.
Emaulers and a DTW in a HI fireteam are great Don't read these forums (especially YJ sub) and play the game instead. YJ is a competetive faction.
To those of you who like the profile, what would you take out of a zuyong pain train list for instance to make room for Krit? Legit curious. E: a list like this for instance: Invincible Army──────────────────────────────────────────────────10 HǍIDÀO (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper / Breaker Pistol, Knife. There are some very vocal members of the you Jing Forum who play a certain way and find anything that doesn't fit that to be negative. Try not to take it as too much of an indication of yu jings competitiveness. Krit is not great, not optimised. But that's hardly a new thing for CB to do, and not just for yu Jing. Characters often are either hit or miss given they tend to get a unique combination of equipment.
Coming from the PanO side of things - yeah, elite HI armed with a Combi are a pita. Ours even more so, because in half of the cases - ORC, Father-Knight, Hospitaller - they don't have any useful secondary weapons to fall back on. So in that regard Krit is already better, because E/Mitter makes for a semi-decent ARO, having a backup DTW is always good, and E/Maulers can be very useful. Lack of D-Charges is a headscratcher, yeah. Bloat comes mainly in the form of Kinematika L1>L2, and Automedikit. In case of our HIs it's usually increased CC capabilities. I think PanO gets the better side of the deal, especially given Automedikit's cost, but it's still about 5-6 pts of bloat on a single model, this isn't something that would make a profile useless. I don't agree with calls to perfectly optimize every single unit. Bottom line is that if you need simply a HI Specialist, there's Tai Sheng. If you need a tough Engineer, there's Haidao. But if you need a bigger toolbox or a bigger gun, Krit is an option. And if you guys don't like him maybe we could trade him for Teutons? Joking aside, they'd probably work better in YJ than in PanO, and the same can be said for Krit, in PanO he would have less competition for his role.
I never made this calculation. It might be used to round up cost up in some cases. Again, this would leave Automedikit as the main source of bloat. I also play SEF and sure, Malignos, Shrouded and Speculo - and Tensho - without Automedikits would be much easier to fit into lists. But it's still useful as a lifeline from time to time.
There's no doubt an Automedikit is not worth the points and is used by CB to make profiles arbitrarily more expensive, but I don't see why they felt that Krit's profiles needed to get this extra arbitrary expense - Krit doesn't actually give IA much in the way of new functionality that they didn't already have due to Krit's Minelayer profile being barred from Fireteams. Even without the extra CC and the Automedikit, Krit would be a difficult model to fit inside IA's tight economy.
This I can agree with. He's not useless, but in his enviroment he's secondary, more likely tetriary choice. Though linked Feuerbach is awesome.
