Certainly the name suggests it. Also, the helmet and the part about dissapearing is reminiscent of a Nisse :p (mimetics)
Except Nisse are depicted with black helmets as well. She's got the wrong shoulder pad for an Orc (unless she's also wearing the "Patsy" version) and is carrying a backpack (see the straps) rather than the PanO HI power pack.
Are the defiance crew on their way to Daedalus the far side CA gate whilst their buddies blow up the near side gate. Cos now that's a thing, that would stop the CA pretty well lol
Yeah I know, but are they gonna do the same thing as what happened at Daedalus now the precedent is set? Shaft the gate and nerf the invasion!
I don't think it does, which is part of what makes defending it harder than it might otherwise be. But putting in a Gate on our side would reduce transit losses (presumably).
The Tohaa "Cerberus" (the true controlers of Spiral) used knowledge trampled from a Tzetchi compiler to close the gate between Paradiso and Tohaa territories; humanity (or Tohaa as a whole) do not have such technology, and the hidden hand inside the Tohaa wants to use humanity as a speed bump against the CA, so no, the Acheron gate won't be closed. I assume the Daedalus Gate was collapsed from both vectors, because no more Tohaa can get to the Human Sphere, and those there can't go back. As for Acheron, I'm not sure about it having a "from Paradiso to...", human ships have not travelled there, but automated probes might, since some telemetry was mentioned somewhere (about the inmense attrition rates the CA was facing when sending ships to Paradiso, about 50% just for the transit... quite the WH40k style of casualties even before the combat begins, like the Nexus' background). I assume, however, that humanity would love for the Terminus in Paradiso to be shut down...
Wow, this is ridiculously hard to make myself understood. HUMANS, not tohaa. Go through gate and blow it up. DF04 mission shows they sabotaged the core, either humans do that or do it the old fashioned way of kaboom with guns/nukes whatever
It may be a little challenging to mess with a wormhole. I'm assuming that most wormholes are natural, and just expanded by the gate frames. The initial wormhole to Ariadna/Dawn was natural, after all. It takes an immense amount of energy to make a wormhole according to the math. Levels of energy that 2019 humanity cannot produce at all. (in excess of the total energy production of our star!) Also, depending on how exactly the frame/core is made, having one damaged or running around loose inside a star system would be catastrophic. In the Eldraeverse setting (which also uses wormholes for FTL), the wormholes are created by entangled singularities. There are 'small' (millions or billions of tons mass) black holes in there, spinning at obscene rpm. You do NOT want one of those bouncing around an inhabited solar system!!!
Infinity wormholes use the gates to stabilise them, though it is theoretically possible to travel through without a gate only the CombArmy have the ability to do it even semi-reliably, and even then most of what comes through the Acheron wormhole is single seater Shasvaasti Stealth ships. The Tohaa were presumably able to send a scout ship/probe through the Daedalus wormhole before the gate proper was built by O-12, but I also assume collapsing the gate has rendered the wormhole impassable for at least the near future.
Well, we know that he Human Sphere has the ability to navigate wormholes without the use of Gates (PanOceania has an entire explorer fleet dedicated to exactly that). But Gates make everything safer and more reliable. Presumably Daedalus could still be navigated, but it's just dangerous and unreliable without the gate operational. And I don't think Humanity knows for sure if the Combined Army even use Gates, so launching an attack on something that might not even be there seems reckless (even by our standards).
The Triumvirate engineered a "Shasvasti incursion" on the other side of the wormhole, so the gates in the next two systems in every direction have been locked down. No-one is approaching the Daedalus gate at the moment.
Yep. 'though it's not 100% clear if it's literally a setup, or them taking advantage of a real ('though minor) incursion.
Well, I was using the old lore of "The triumvirate redirected the second colony ship going to what is now known as Ariadna to what is now known as Paradiso. This was poisoned knowledge provided by the Tzetchi Digester they had, and caused the total collapse and closure of the Earth-Ariadna corridor" Or something like that. I was assuming the Triumvirate used that in the Daedalus Gate. Also, I was assuming that the Gates were more like garrisons and flight control (ensuring no one would use the corridor in a way that would make them crash with a Circular) than any kind of systems that interacted with the wormholes per se. As for the Acheron inbound point, I think it was mentioned in Third Offensive that the CA was sending the ships from very far away, and that it was a perilous travel. Also they send a lot of decoys, so maybe part of that 50% attrition included those. Finally, consider that the terminus are not double-sided, son while the CA-Paradiso Acheron gate exists, it might be possible that to reach the origin point of that corridor ("CA") it would be needed to take a long journey.
The Triumvirae use the Shasvastii as an excuse for most (obvious) sabotage they do, the collapse of the Daedalus gate though was a full assault by taking over the captured Raxora to damage the gate in non operational levels and they keep it damaged by sabotaging repair efforts and blaming Shasvastii on it.
