With the new ORC box coming out in June, I was trying to evaluate if they are good.

The box is combi, shotgun, HMG, tinbot. (feuerbach is in Varuna starter, and MULTI is in PanO starter).

They can make a Core but limited to AVA 4. Special core is up to 3 ORC with Avicenna to heal them and Valkyrie for close combat. You can also take 1 in the massive SoF-based core link (choice of 1 bolt or 1 ORC).

    Foreign Company
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [IMG]5
    ORC Boarding Shotgun + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36)
    ORC HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 44)
    ORC Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 36)
AVICENNA Combi Rifle, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27)
VALKYRIE Heavy Shotgun, Grenades / Heavy Pistol, EXP CC Weapon. (0 | 35)

The base WYSIWYG link using the box clocks in 178 Pts and 2.5 SWC (using hacker as normal combi, not paying 42 Pts for a WIP 12 hacker in FC). A bit expensive ? I haven't played FC yet, waiting to be done painting/playing my TJC first. I'm used to Riot Grrl being a cheaper link. StarCo can have Avi + Riots, having the doctor close to the link is great. ORC are more expensive for +BS +ARM so it could be worth it. Maybe I can read up on PanO pain train, but FC has unique options with having a doctor and CC capable model in the link. Opening the thread to get some ideas / opening the discussion of ORC in FC.

ORCs are in a tough spot, in not only FC but the game as a whole. They suffer from being a horribly generic, yet expensive, Heavy Infantry. They're outclassed in every sense of the word in Vanilla PanO and NCA. They have the ability to insert themselves in a cheerleader link in Acon and Varuna – so they have their uses there.

In Foreign Company, they're one of 5 HMG wielders and easily the worst of them. Seriously, you'll probably get a lot more mileage out of the TR bot than one of these guys solo. They can "Core" but their AVA is 4, with no wildcards in the sectorial this is pretty useless. They can insert themselves into that big SoF link but you're probably going to take a bolt instead to unlock the ability to start 8 inches up the board. This pretty much just leaves the link you posted above – which I would argue will be the only time you'll see them hit the table in Foreign Company.

This link isn't bad. Unlike most HI pain trains, it's surprisingly well rounded. I would say it's a very viable option for LI lists. I played a game last week and used it, my list was:

    ORCS ORCS ORCS
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]10
    ORC HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 44)
    ORC Feuerbach / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 42)
    ORC Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 35)
VALKYRIE Heavy Shotgun, Grenades / Heavy Pistol, EXP CC Weapon. (0 | 35)
AVICENNA Combi Rifle, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27)
ZERO (Minelayer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19)
ZERO (Minelayer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19)
HANNIBAL Lieutenant (Strategic Deployment, Strategos L1) MULTI Marksman Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 41)
    BOLT Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
BOLT Boarding Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 18)

    5.5 SWC | 300 Points

It didn't go great for me – but I would consider running it again. I would seriously consider sticking the FB in the link you posted above, if you're going to spend 200 points on 5 models they should probably pack more than just an HMG. A big problem I see with running this is the lack of flexibility elsewhere in the army. By nature FC has a really hard time dealing with camo because of the lack of any notable MSV and/or sensor units and dumping 200 points into a link that folds against TO/ODD isn't great. It's also too bad the ORCS don't have a decent specialist, though you have Avicenna pushing buttons it would be nice to have someone a little more tanky able to run out and get shot and complete an objective.

Overall I'm pretty content with this link team – it's not perfect and could use improvements but it's what we got. I'm going to to test it a few more times before I pass final judgement but for now I'm optimistic about it.

There’s been talk by some (JCJF mostly) about running a Hannibal, Laxmee/Kaplans or Bolt Haris and a 3-man core of Valk Avicenna and an ORC HMG. It’s a lot cheaper than the full Monty but also loses out on the 4 and 5 woman bonuses.

Very order efficient and the extra points let you sneak in some remotes and Zeroes as well.

Whenever i have used Orcs, they have performed like TAGs...either they perform admirably or they crack and are taken out easily, leaving you with little left.

I think I like running two 3 man teams they are easier to move and they are easier to keep versatile over something like a clumsy 5 man team
    Currently my CJC list is

    Mobile Brigada HMG
    Brigada BS
    Spec ops Doc

    Massacre
    Lupe
    Daktaris

    Intruder MSR

Our terrain can get a little spartan at times as much as I try for it not too and a 5 man team has to clump up to hide in and if its hiding means massacre team can charge up the field and kill with all the tools they have at their disposal ignoring the popular MSV2 Sniper Core team

I had two games last night against a similar MSV2 trooper in core teams massacre charges up the field and both opponents where like "well I've lost this game" as soon as massacre team was starting to get close I removed orders removed attack pieces with all the tools i had then left the team in good positions in their side of the field where they were getting really good aros or dropping smokes for the intruder to aro with

With foreign company you can do something similar but more expensive but at the same time more elite

That would be my go to instead of a paint train

    WARCOR (360º Visor) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3)
    2.5 SWC | 299 Points

But I'd hesitate to call it "ORC Heavy".

It's the kind of list which I think would be super spikey, but leaves a lot of reliability on the table.

I have never seen anyone use or even talk about taking an ORC Core. Haris, sure. Mixed into an LI link, all day erryday. Solo HMG is a tried and true profile. But straight up ORC Core seems rather elusive, even with guys like Rao or Kamau filling it up.

I’ve got a full ORC core Varuna list in the works, it’s definitely mission and table dependent so when a good mission rolls around on our weekly LGS rotation I’ll run it and let you know.

Funnily after posting that previous post I started messing around in NCA with an ORC Core, noticing they got it there too.
With Aquila Guard FTO and Bipandra you can gen a heavy but interesting link. If one wants to commit ~200pts to a link it could be nice. One really similar to the Foreign one in some ways.
