welcome @inane.imp if you read carefully you will see, what my point of view is actualy: D. NO, you must set landing segment for ALL of you parachutist during your main deployment step, despite the number of your parachutist in the list or holding some of them in reserve. But for a long time i play against people who reserve parachutist to see enemy deployment & negate parachutist skill weakness. my opinion - it is a CHEATING.
now about @inane.imp "basic" argument with symbio creatures. Symbiomate description clearly state: SymbioMates can only be assigned during the Deployment Phase, when deploying their owner. also FAQ totaly clear these question: Q: When are the Symbiomates or SymbioBombs assigned? A: They are assigned at the moment that you deploy the trooper whose profile includes the SymbioMates or SymbioBombs is deployed. with Parachutist NOTHING about "deploy" AD:Parachutist or sending him in AD are mentioned. the only thing i should do to use AD:L1 is to write down landing segment during deployment phase During the Deployment Phase, mentally divide the edges of the play area down the middle into eight segments (two on each side). Then, choose one of these segments and write it down in secret for later verification. For the rest of the game, all your troopers with the AD: Parachutist Special Skill deploy through that segment of the play area's edge. & FAQ slightly clarifies that: Q: Can you pick your AD: Parachutist location at any time during the Deployment Phase of any player? A: No. You have to choose the location during the Deployment Phase of the owning player. reserved model placement step still owning player deployment. chosing location for ALL Parachutists & sending some of them in AD are not tied by any means.
I asked that question, because i was considering deploying Nahab as the reserve, and the question came up. I know you dont have to mark zones with Airborne Infiltration, but that made me think about different possibilities' legitness.
@ik3rian i really sorry this all comes to that we have now. i give you a hints about using reserved AD/hidden deployment trooper earlier. it good tactical decision which could give you advantage over your opponent.
Thanks, buddy. Personally, I would go with picking the explanation D, as it makes most sense for me. I was just wondering if me just smiling during that step could imply me doing some "less legal" shenanigans, pays to be prepared. And since Asura LT2 HD+, or whatever this abomination is, is really driving me mad recently, i have to resort to using midboard hackers. Lot of 'em.
I’m not sure what your logic here is - are you saying that placing the reserve model is not part of your deployment phase?
no, i mean that IMHO you cant delay writing your AD:L1 deployment segment till reserved model placement (& most important you cant see your opponent deployment if you deploys first). for me it must be obvious disadvantage of this skill. & answer in a FAQ seems should confirm this? (here i not sure) Again - it still my thought. but for now by RAW it works so reserved model timing also count. & i just show it with RAW rules. & even MORE - by RAW for now you can do it without losing reserved model space for AD:L1 trooper. thats the more important "hole" i think. anyway we need clarification for these moment. it could be done with just couple of words in a current FAQ.
