This is a bit back-to-front - as far as I'm aware, Patsy is paying at most 1pt (maybe 0pt) for Nimbus Plus Grenades. You take her for her main abilities, with Nimbus Plus just being an added extra if the right situations come up. You don't take her for the purpose of having Nimbus Plus.
@ijw only 1 pts are you sure ? 37 pts for an SMG platform is expensive (with the 25 pts wu min SMG in mind) it can't be 12 pts for FO and NCO we know that it is the same price as mines
Yes, I'm sure. To be honest, I doubt she's paying anything at all for the Nimbus Plus. The Wu Ming has a Chain Rifle. Patsy has +1 BS (and 13>14 is where it appears to start ramping up in price), +1 PH, Fireteam: Haris, Stealth (pretty important on a Hackable trooper), Multiterrain, Forward Observer, NCO and D-Charges. That easily accounts for the 12pt difference. EDIT - or compare to a Combi Rifle Orc at 36pt. She's paying -5pt for her main weapon, but has around 6pt of extra abilities and weapons (assuming Nimbus Plus is 0pt).
Alright, had some time to think on it. Here goes nothing. As good as SMGs tend to be, they're still just cheap and efficient. Remember for a second they're still worse in every way than a Multirifle. Last time I checked we don't think Multirifles are the best thing ever. Like any cheap weapon there is a breaking point where the platform outperforms the gun and would really like to have something of higher calibre. The Orc baseline Profile is exactly the place where they start being a bit bad, for pretty much the same reason why no one takes Combi Rifles on HI when there is a way to avoid it. Could have really used her own DTW or a second SMG/MSV-1/X-Visor for a little real punch. Oh well. Thanks to her kit (HI FO/Stealth/NCO/SMG/Multiterrain/D-Charges/Wildcar/Haris/Duo/0 SWC) she provides a toolbox you rarely get in PanO. If she makes sense for a set of Missions Patsy can be your gal for the job. But the Nimbus+ really is just a situational bonus and more of a trap than anything else. The main application I see for it isn't using it for damage. However combined with a Croc, ZC or even Helot in Marker state you can use it for Mobility or covering a mad dash towards and Objective. Straight up avoiding a Firefight by hiding behind a -9/-12 Discover is something you'll see frequent use for. It's not real Smoke, pften enough your opponent will get a hail Mary attemt to shoot or Discover on 1-3s, but we're PanO and that's what we get. Still I can't really bring myself to recommend using Patsy to everyone, she is a solid B, no questions about that. The rest of PanO would be happy to have her. But in Varuna? Tough sell.
I use her a lot, she is always worth her cost and the cost of her haris. She just does so much that I always find something for her to do.
Being a 0SWC Wildcard flexpick with Haris and Duo I'd argue that Vanilla is not the place for her. If you want the Lt Order you can take a Bolt CoC for less and Vanilla isn't exactly starved for good solo pieces.
Even in Vanilla, PanOceania isn't exactly rich in quality solo Lt options. I'd much rather have a few more options for NCO.
Like maybe Kirpal Singh (an actual sergeant) with NCO instead of CoC, MA3, CC 21 and Drop Bears for 35 points?
Not with patsy, with a Zulu Cobra - who just happens to be pretty much the best triangulated fire platform in the game due to also having camo
