Deep Infiltration SEF and the Breakwall Group

I thought I may as well start up a thread where I can put up my SEF as they start to come together, I'm a huge fan of the old Shasvastii style, so I plan on converting up the original minis to match the new sectorial list. The theme behind them will be an SEF force deep in a Yu Jing mega city.

First up is my Sphinx, 2 handing his rifle:


A couple of seed soldiers that I've given hoods and arm swaps to be my shrouded:

And seeing as theres 0% chance of me being able to get an affordable Aida Swanson, heres my alternative:

I have a conversion in mind for Victor Messer as well, so he'll be coming in the near future.

 

Yer I think basing and making detailed scenery is my true hobby passion.

Sure is. Closest thing I could find to Swanson. Plus it's a pretty nice sculpt.

 

I made a start on the practice colours for my first Shrouded, I'm happy with all of him except his skin, which I didn't blend as well as I would have liked. I just have his blade, back strings and base to do and he's done.

I also undercoated my sphinx with an Army Painter white rattlecan, absolutely ruined it. It looks like a medium grit sandpaper.

I now have to figure out how to strip it without ruining the greenstuff work.

0/10 Army Painter spray, will not be using again.

 

Yer I'm pretty disappointed, I tried painting over it a bit, but its so coarse on the surface that the paint doesn't flow over it, it bunches up and looks pretty bad. I've actually had issues with army painter primers before, where they've melted resin miniatures. I assumed they would have sorted the problems out.

 

So I managed to reduce the coarseness of the sphinx a little and did a bit of shading on the worst area to trial it out.

Its not too bad and when I add a few darker and lighter layers it might actually be ok.

Couple of new little conversions. First up is my Caliban, made from the body of a Malignos, Cadmus head and Aswang arms, arms are blutacked on until I paint him up;



And my first Malignos with Aswang body and Gwailos arms;



I finished up painting the first shrouded as well, but the forum isn't letting me upload pictures of it for some reason.

 

Got them working, I still want to add some rubbish; old newspapers and takeaway cups to his base. But apart from that he's done.

 

Yer nice idea, I pushed on and it came up alright, it looks like a pretty organic armour. I've done his right hand chest;

 

Mentor kitbash, I pretty much just used leftover bits for him that I wasn't using for anything else.
