A trooper shoots a heckler out of line of fire by bouncing a shotgun template through a remote.

As the trooper is in ZoC, the heckler jams rather than dodging as the odds are better.

Is this is still F2F? We played as such but in hindsight it feels weird as how does a comms attack stop a bullet?

A second related question, does the trooper need to be in the front arc of the heckler as the jam ARO is a BS attack?

A third question, how about if the trooper WAS in line of fire and the heckler chose jam as ARO (possibly if the trooper had camo or something making the jam the most effective roll)? Still F2F?

Both troopers are affecting each other, so that's a FTF.

Jammer has the no LoF trait, so the position of the shooter relative to the heckler is irrelevant as long as he is inside of the ZoC.

That said, the heckler would have had the ARO generated when the trooper entered his ZoC, not when he was hit by the template, unless the active unit had stealth (or declared his activation sequence in the reverse of what is normal).

Additionally, if the “target” of the shotgun is the REM, then the Heckler’s Jammer isn’t an FtF, because the template is going down regardless. The Jammer would be normal, and the Heckler would simply roll ARM versus the template.

The requirement for a roll to be face to face is :
For actions to be resolved with a Face to Face Roll, both troops must affect each other directly. If either action does not affect the outcome of the other, use Normal Rolls instead

Does the shotgun template affect the Heckler => Yes
Does the Heckler jamming affect the active trooper => Yes

So it looks like a face to face roll
