I was wondering, whether you have any particular models, that you like using, that rarely see the light of day in the ‘net lists’ of others? Personally, I like the combi rifle myrmidon. He is horribly expensive @25 pt, no specialist rule and no big gun, but he always seem to make a nuisance of himself, when he takes up suppressive fire and cover midfield.
i like andromeda in my opinion she is not that bad... mimetism FDlvl2, specialist, not bad on melee, Nwi..maybe a little expensive but still okay haha
I don't have many games under my belt, but my Rudras Gunbot with Redfury has done well, fighting it out vs a Su Jian Spitfire and a Rui Shi Spitfire and "living" to tell the tale!
Penthesilea for me in vanilla. Zooms into the backline in a few orders, then can take out all the cheerleaders or a vital HI/TAG with her mono ccw. Then stays as a nasty (contender is DA) ARO in their backline.
I'am agree, Andromeda is some kind of joke for some players, but when playing SSS I found is an auto include in most of my lists. Same level as Dart and most of the times Andromeda do more job than "the new an fancy archer". Yes, it is a little expensive, but if you go first she can do a good use of orders to put down enemy targets or take some objetives, an them go into supressive fire and made itself "a pain in the ass". If the enemy can't catch Andromeda in long range is hard to put down, so the enemy probably loose an amount of orders to do it. And if the enemy ignores she... Well, later she probably could do regret it... :D
Ditto on Penthesilea. She is so versatile with good speed, and an array of good equipment. She doesn't dominate, but is a threat to anything on the board, and if you can get her into the opponents backfield, she is an absolute nightmare for them. She has won more than one game for me.
The problem with andromeda isnt that shes hot garbage, its that shes very pricy because she pays for being a generalist, so for each purpose and list there usually is someone who does what you want her to do better. Want to run up the board and use CC? Penny and ajax do that better. Want to use her as a mid range gunfighter? Achilles, machaon, or hell the mk3 posthuman do that better. Want to use her as a specialist with vis mod? Mk2, dactyls,myrm officer do it better. Basically, for her to be a good choice your list would still need a specialist, be threatened in close combat, need to be near the midfield but not further( otherwise things like nagas and dasyus are better), in an environment without much shock/viral AND no enemy elites/TR AROs/links as her stats are thoroughly mediocre. Most lists will just pick models that are better then her at what they want. Also, being S4 for a normal foot troop makes her rather vulnerable.
The versatility of her is also a strength though. By filling all those possible roles with one unit you have room for more options on the table. That also makes her a great back up for when any of those more single focused units can't do the job. Sure she isn't the best for each of the options, but they are generally less capable than her to take on another aspect.
Love this thread! For me it's the humble Halqa. I feel like I never see them used by anyone else, and folks are always surprised to see them on the table. But WIP 14 specialists starting right in the middle of the action for so cheap makes me happy. I'll often take 4 (because that's how many I have) - Doctor, Hacker, Rifle+LSG and Light Grenade Launcher. They're not super tough or shooty, but they can be deployed to really make the midfield more difficult and help with a late game push.
The Anaconda. probably the weakest TAG, but damn me if it doesn't punch far above its weight almost every game i play. The new HMG profile is a huge improvement and allows for a bit more fire superiority. I understand that it's big, slow, under-armored and only 2 STR, but it's almost always my MVP. the escape system with resulting smoke cloud almost always saves my pilot to live on and fight again. Not to mention its my favorite looking TAG.
This Level of Holoprojector allows imitation of troopers available to the bearer's faction or Sectorial Army.
They might not work for impersonating troops outside the army list, but I gotta say, I love Patroclus. Mov6-4, a spitfire and ODD, you really don’t need any more - and then you get holo3. He racks up as many kills as Achilles in my games.
Such a silly restriction. Especially as all the merc profiles (not just faction allowed) are show in your options for the courtesy list
Totally agree, @DukeofEarl !! @Kir She being a generalist is, probably, what I like from her. And yes, in Vainilla Aleph probably we have so many better choices, but in SSS is the "unique" for some tasks and she have some more profiles. This is a huge difference and too, in SSS is the unique choice in order to have some chances to have an opportunity of make some Clasified Objetives. Is the "best" and probably the unique option to do something in CC. :D
I played her yesterday and she killed a Morat Vanguard, Treitak Anyat and a Sogarat (AP ammo with SMG is golden). NWI is very valuable too. I wish she had in SP all the profiles she has in SSS...
I like to field Warrant Officer Teucer. I don't know, if he is rarely seen or everywhere, but I really like him - even before the update; and now even more. I never understood Scylla though - until eight days ago. I will try to take her on missions more often from now on. Maybe I succeed in board control thanks to her.
Scylla is very versatile in choice of hacking devices, and when she cybermasks her bots do too, so you have IMP-2 guided repeaterbots to hack things with that can also flamethrower. Shes great if you take a good amount of hacking.
