I am really glad that I finally have a reason to paint some more of the beautiful Mobile Brigada miniatures. They are , for me, some of the best figures in the entire range. It is good to see them get 2 viable uses in both Nomads, and NA2. But, I am concerned about the obsolescence of many profiles that this brings. For starters, Alguacils are essentially no longer needed. I have 3 painted Alguacils, and the hacker blister, which I will most likely never use again. I am glad Valerya Gromoz is playing a bigger role, as she is a cool character, and a boost to the link. The downside is, she completely overshadows the Alguacil Hacker, and even the MB hacker. I am trying to justify the MB hacker, as its a great model. But I just can't. +1 W, and +3 BTS ... Its not worth the points being paid. Gromoz is clearly the better choice. (especially considering you only get 2 MB slots) The end result is a great link team which will almost always include Lupe, Valerya, and a Daktari. Obviously, you can run the cheaper Alguacils if you use a Tomcat Doc (who also has been sidelined due to linkable dak), need a few extra points for a 2nd order group, and so on... but, in a vacuum the link team should be the same everytime, with only the 2nd MB choice up for grabs (though, I would maintain the LT is the best choice given Corregidors poor options) TLDR; Mixed Heavy Infantry links are too good and I am lamenting about it for some reason. Almost as if giving me more options has somehow narrowed my options. How do you feel about it? I haven't played CJC since mixed links, but I want to get that Tsyklon spitfire into a 5-man core real bad. Not entirely sure who to bring with it, though.
I dunno, valerya is decent but depends what you're trying to do. Alguacile is cheaper and buffs REMS just as well as she does
The profiles were not designed with the current sectorial rules in mind so I think it's unsurprising some lost their use. I think more got activated than lost however.
I think these things settle a bit into an optimal configuration over time anyway, but I don't know that would have been found yet. 3 Alguaciles (maybe FO's) + ML Brigada + Tsyklon is a nice point effective defensive link for example, if you want to save points for other attack pieces. The hacker is a nice cheap supportware buffer / reserve link team member / specialist that might fit in some lists to slice a few pts from Gromoz. So I feel like it has put more models on the table than it's taken off. Mainly I feel like if the Brigada Hacker and Tinbot got combined into one profile (and the other combi became a KHD) like in other modern sectorials then the whole lot would get used in different contexts. Then it's just mainly Wildcats and Carlotta Kowalski that could really still use looking at, maybe when they get new sculpts if that ever happens...
I didn’t even notice the tsyklon... That changes things up a bit too. Good points brought up , I’m feeling excited . But , still wishing the hacker brigade (and maybe most hackers in this game who aren’t bargain bin remote support monkeys) would get some love .
I don't think Alguaciles are sidelined. The link OP posted is certainly strong but sometimes you might just want a link of cheap cheerleaders powering a missile launcher MB as a dominating ARO piece. That you can now fit a daktari in there to bring it back from unconscious is also excellent. I've already tried this link once with great success and foresee using it more for sure Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 MOBILE BRIGADA Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. I do feel there is some potential in some wildcats with HRL and Lupe for the smoke, and Massacre (most likely as Haris) with Daktari for button pressing. Basically both can be 3-5 strong, and if you put them in the same group, you can even change the setup on the fly. Probably not as optimized as the core with Brigadas, but something I will be trying out I think.
@loricus You had me wondering for a minute there but yeah I think 1 Brigada, 3 alguaciles and a wildcard daktari technically satisfies the requirements of "up to 3 alguaciles and up to 2MB" for the special link. Which is good because if you have to have 2MBs its way too expensive for cheerleading @Riktikticheck I agree the ability to have a specialist in Jaguars will be good. I'm really keen to try it. I still don't like the wildcats even with the new wildcard options. IMO they just aren't worth it for what they do - expensive, barely tougher than Alguaciles and have worse weapon loadouts. Now Alguaciles can get MB and the Tsyklon in them they are straight up better both as an ARO-focused link and an agressive link, and they cost less points. Only use I can see for wildcats now is an LT that doesn't cost SWC and is cheaper than the Intruder LT
You can do both. But I want to avoid having non-combatants it makes it difficult to position and adds a weak point.
I agree there, but Lupe adds a a lot of utility plus is a half decent gunfighter, it has often come down to whether or not i wan her or the engineer in the fire-team. The daktari I generally avoid unless there are doctor bonuses in play that I want to take advantage of.
You guys are missing some of the bigger picture. Your wildcards may be getting used in a Massacre Haris for example. Or you may want to put 2 Tsyklons in the link for serious shootiness on a budget, etc. etc.
I had Lupe, Doc, BSG Brigada, HMG Brigada and Hacker Alg as a point attack piece. I found the link really hard to kill across the smoke from Lupe, and the Doc picking up the BSG point man. Any objectives are possible. Possibly not optimal and very much all the eggs in one basket but it felt strong enough. I backed it up with a Gecko + Tsyklon Duo to tussle with opposing HI.
I've run it and it's great. Lupe doesn't change the feel of the link at all but adds a specialist and more weapons. I think she'll really shake up a Wildcat haris, but the Massacre link is just so good.
I'm actually looking at the Dak in the Massacre link to save points for other stuff, but it feels like a waste of doctorness. Might try Lupe, indeed.
