Deployment zones are overrated. P.S.: I have like at least 9 probably-less-than-sane lists I made at school today out of boredom, I'll try to spoiler them in here.
Okay, here's a hint: So far, the total Geckos among all of these lists is 9, and 2 Iguanas. So far. Unless I end up fully filling out the list storage capacity on Infinity Army. Which I tend to often do.
It's absolute trash if your opponent figures out it's coming. It's not even very good if they don't know it's coming.
Yup. We've got a guy in our meta who loves swing/jank/gimmick lists. They always either steamroll or get rolled, and its usually the latter. They can be fun for the occasional joke game where both players bring something dumb. In hindsight, lets move this to the wild speculation thread. I don't want newbies finding this while looking for actual advice.
Fair point, but I've already managed to get myself a reputation as the weird guy locally ( Most players play the standard 13-16 orders lists whilst I'm the guy who almost exclusively runs single combat groups. ), and I do not mind a loss every once in a while, so long as the process of getting there was fun. I have a feeling SCG janks are what would be best for me. Sure, if I don't mix up the thread, I'll do so.
There's also borderline lists. I play Iguana and Wildcat Core, and I regularly play 3 AD, and I've gotten them pretty stable. As long as you aren't in a hyper competitive meta.
They still work fine in hyper competitive metas as many players will be used to conventional lists and wisdom so the second something comes out of left field you can mess with their plans and get a win. However this is very much one of those "will only work once" if it does at all kind of things.
Trying to think of ways to play against the new Kamau MSR linked. Brigada HMG or Tsyklon in a full Core may be a good idea so you have a few chances to take hits and revive. It will totally drain your command tokens however. Tomcat LFT might be a good first try. It's a huge swing if you fail to kill it efficiently enough and breaking even if you win. But I don't see a way around that.
Fusi BBQ is the best way to handle the Kamau. Tried F2F with a core backing up a half decent gunfighter, not as reliable as I'd like. best chance is to hope you don't a parking lot for a table and just ignore it until you can close enough to murder his friends with a dtw. The tomcat with mines also does a half decent raoul impression to accomplish something similar, potentially same goes for the Hellcat HMG, pretty sure being isolated kicks you from a fireteam so you may get some use out of the emauler there.
Kamau are just as easy to kill with a LFT to a Fusi and Tomcats have climbing+. So pick your target and try to get around the fishmen. edit: Intruder HMG might be a good way to get the fish. Better discover and a solid F2F, plus FD1 gives you more options to get the correct angle.
Duos: Gecko+Gecko Same as always. Feels even more like a gimmick now that it isn't the only option. Gecko+Lupe Lupe is a good enabler for the main thing holding Geckos back: mobility. Gecko+Dak Probably not unless you needed to escort a doctor for a mission. Gecko+Brigada A lot of profiles to consider. Almost any could work. Think about what you need done. Gecko+Tsyklon Probably Spitfire with the Combis. Good if you think burst is king. Bring an engineer.
Only if the other member of the Duo has the skill. So Gecko+Lupe = Good, as one member has the skill. Brigada+Lupe = Bad as no one has the skill.
Ahhh yes, gotcha. I need to get more familiar with the new teams setup. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
