    Soo,

yesterday I played the first tournament with the new Spiral Corps (a friend of mine who is Warcor luckily borrowed me the new minis to playtest a little) in a 26 man tournament in cologne, with a good mix of veteran players and also some newcomers
The missions were the custom "Catch em all" where there are 4 Pokemon which you need to take control of, Unmasking and Acquisition.

    My lists were:

The first round was the Pokemon mission and I played against a relative newcomer with vanilla Yu Jing.
His list was centered around a Su-Jian with Spitfire, 4 Kuang Shi, Zhujong HMG, Guilang FO, Kanren FO and some stuff that I forgot about.
This match was sadly dominated by crits - I had 8 of them during the first turn and after that it was basically over because I had a lot more experience and could just use my superior position to achive all objectives.
The new troops didn't do that much, exept for the Helot who was a strong ARO piece.
10:0 for me and lost nothing in the end.

Secound round was Unmasking against an Acontecimento player who also won 10:0
He had (roughly) a couple of KHD Nagas, a Fusiler or Regular Link Team (don't know anymore) with a Sniper and other stuff, Drakios with Spitfire, TR bot, Engineer, Doc, Warcor, Bulleteer with Spitfire and a Peacemaker.
This was a very interesting and challanging game where I could keep him at bay from pushing any buttons in the first turns, because he had to get through me first.
Neema was again an absolut beast with the Tri-Core and Clipsos are still one of my favourite "button pushers". Managed to win 7:2 in the end and we both had around ~160 points left.

Third round was against said Warcor who borrowed me the Spiral Corps who managed to win two 10-0, so this match was Acquisition for the tournament win.
We played the same matchup just the day before and I had the same list, he changed only a little and the day before I achieved a 7:1 victory so I had hopes for a good result.
He played vanilla CA with a HMG Charontid, Daturazi, Krakot, 1 Taigha Creature, 1 Shrouded Minelayer, 1 Shrouded KHD, a FO seed soldier, 1 Libertos Minelayer, 2 Ikadron, 1 AI Beacon, 2 Flash pulse bots and the obligatory ML Noctifer & Speculo.
I had the first turn and scored a couple of kills with Neema and the Rasail, including the Speculo (discovered and stunned by the Delegate^^) and Noctifer. In his first turn the Charontid returned the favor and killed some of my stuff, but not too much that would've capped my orders (god I love Helots!).
My second turn Neema again ran absolute rampage and killed about everything in her sight, including the Charontid. The game was then a bit of back and forth and in the end I managed to win 6-3.
Couldve played a little smarter than a 3 point victory would've been possible.

The "sloppy" play hit me in the back when another player scored his 3rd 3 point victory and got first, while I landed at the second place.
Still pretty happy with 2nd place, but of course I also would've liked the win :D
The new Corps is definetly a force to be reckoned with.

Neema with Tri-Core is the absolute beast that I imagened her to be. She is so god damn scary and effective. I had options in my list to tackle problems in different ways, but she just managed to shoot everything into pieces - felt a bit like playing PanO again^^
Helots are the next best new thing, you can just so easily deploy such cheap aro pieces which will cost the opponent a lot of recources.
Kriigel/Kiiutan hadn't much opportunity to shine due to the overperformance of Neema - although I managed to isolte some troops. Kiel-San did what you can expect from an expensive HI - was resilient (I rolled the +1 arm) and is a decent gun platform with the Red Fury, I kinda like him.
Spiral still felt like Tohaa but in a different flavour. So when normal is vanilla, Spiral Corps is strawberry Tohaa^^
The new version of the Mates didn't seems so much worse than before. Still pretty good to tank a hit.
And CoC is what makes the Kaeltar obligatory to me, much more than the mates themselves.

CoC is definitely what makes the extra points worth it for me. Bombs are cool, but for me that security is well worth it... and the Mates are nice too :)

Thanks for the report, very interesting to read.

I've been debating Bombs vs Mates myself... Wondering of what's better a "free hit" or awesome Pheroware Tactics...

Try it yourself, but mostly it's the mate.
Bombs are nice gimmicks which bring you in some situation a bonus. Mates do that always.

I hear this argument quite a lot when debating mates and bombs. Yet, people do not seem to understand that bombs are not just one-shot hacking devices. Bombs are versatility.
When using bombs, I rarely walk into ZoC of the enemy model and declare the use of my bomb. My opponent will just reset. End of story.
If, however, you walk into LoF say, with a template weapon, and are inside the ZoC, youtär opponent has nothing but bad choices. Do you dodge? Sure, I'll use my bomb unapposed. Do you reset? Template to the face. Do you shoot me on my conditions? Sure, shoot you back.

Bombs are a strategic element of board control that is often underrated.

As a regular player of Simbiobombs, I must say that with Spiral Corps the Simbiobombs are not giving me as good results as in generic Tohaa

If you have a good experience with the Bombs, that's fine.
Perhaps they don't suit my playstyle or I'm to dump to use them. I never use them aggressively, therefore perhaps that my mistake.

But he should make his own experience, that's they way I ended by Symbiomates.
Perhaps he will end by Mates and Bombs, who knows.

@Ben Kenobi try them first at Tohaa Generic, you can use 2 and 2, and don't risk the entire list without Simbiomate

I tried the Bombs in Tohaa a couple of times and liked the utility. But I mostly used them for Mirrorball, which we now have access through the Kriigel. But definetly give them a try!
As I said I almost always take the Mate, because of the CoC, if the profiles were switched I would always use Bombs...

Good Point man... And that's what I think I'm going to try to achieve/learn to use Spiral Corps for- Board Control... Thanks for posting that, now I'm thinking about it...
Phero-booster is sick at Damage 16 while not long range it sure does have a high power... And follow up possibilities.

Spiral definetly lacks long range firepower in general.

Acquisition doesn't have that much of a problem with the 16" DZ and the Kiel-San + Neema, and thanks to the extended DZ it also was no problem to move up the Rasail.

The other list also only really has Neema and the Taagma Viral Sniper (yes, there is one there ;-)) for long range. I relied in doubt on a smoke screen to actively move into a better position, which worked fine.
I don't know how good it will be if an opponent relies on a MSV2 heavy aro list, then I'd probably have to use the Kiiutan or the Clipsos more aggressively, but then I also could use our new Kriigel to use Mirrorball :-)

To be quite honest, on the 1. look I don't really like the Draal. They are super expensive, especially the Marksman one. But they are a decent option against link teams, so I'll test one.

In my (though obviously limited to 4 games only) experience Spiral is about having a lot of tools and using them in the most efficient way, which I really like. On the other hand there is a BS16 Neema which ended up doing most of the heavy lifting :joy:

Thanks for your thoughts and report. I personally tested a tri-core with 2 draal (one smg and one ap-marksmen rifle) and i found them very strong. The stratocloud is incredibile vs fireteam. Shooting at pieces like a kamau and receiving only one shot in return instead of 2 is way more comfortable. Considering you will have a mate to save the hit if something goes wrong. Also the minelayer option gives you some solid mid field to stop your opponent to advance. I haven't tested the dazer yet. but i guess in some missione where you have to control consoles or something like them may worth it to make you opponent waste some orders

I've seen no Kosuil in any Spiral lists till now.
Can me somebody name a reason for that?
A Triad out of Kasuil, Nema and Tri-Core Taagma should be really painful.

I think that, if you want a pain train, the Draal is the way to go rather than the Kosuil.
That being said, I am tinkering with the Kosuil as well, for it is never a bad idea to cover Neema with a 2-wound engineer.

In Spiral Corps is very easy to fit 1 or even 2 Kosuil per list, but also depends on what everyone wants to play or feels comfortable to play

I had exactly that combination in my frist draft, but decided to go with the extra utility the Smoke Lgl Kriigel offered.
He was also the first target killed in the Triad 2/3 games, so a bit of extra sturdiness in form of a Kosuil or Draal would probably also make sense.
