The competitive element could come in the form of hidden agendas/secret objectives as the party try to further the interests of their faction whilst still completing the Misson. It would tie in with the wilderness of mirrors theme from the RPG
I second that... As long as it's not Cutthroat... That might Ruin the experience. Hopefully not as complex as Gloomhaven... I kinda want something a little less... "Full time" Dark souls was ok... I had fun with it but some mechanics are broken...
Sorry mate, I called long time before. Back in January when big N was first revealed. Nailed pretty much :)
Depends on the men days you will have. 100 men days development and a 200 men days testing could be enough for the ruleset. From Miniature design I have no idea about the time needed from the first line drawn to the final miniature. But if the basic setting is clear, it could be parallelized.
I almost guarantee you that CB are definitely thinking that overlapping minis etc are an excellent way to get people into what is a very dense wargame with a steep learning curve through a cool fun coop game.
Then why kick start? It is unlikely it will ever see a store shelf. 90%of the market for it will buy it from ks an no physical store is going to chase the 10 and trickle of new players .
Some kickstarters sell well through retail channels and others do not. It depends on a bunch of factors. From what I’ve seen over the last few years, distributors and stores have also gotten smarter about that, and I’ve seen fewer cases of kickstarted product just languishing on retail shelves.
I posted in the heroes thread but I'm pretty sure they're doing Kickstarter because they need to gauge demand before things go into production. CB have a massive advantage over a lot of other companies because they make the miniatures themselves, cutting out one of the biggest causes of delays and cost overrun. They have used Spanish printers in the past but they will also have relationships already established from making Aristeia!
So, when they talk about the Black N, they are saying that’s when the Kickstarter goes live? 8 months seems like an awfully long lead up time. I’d almost be afraid that interest will wane a little and/or people might forgot to keep looking for it.
It sounds like the main PR push will start at Gen Con, with more game details, sculpts, mockups, and (hopefully) gameplay. Gen Con to November is 2 months and in due there will be frequent designer diaries, previews, etc in between. The Adepticon announcement feels now like a "Hey, we've been working on this, the theory seems sound and it's something we're going to make in the future". It's also nice to have plenty of notice that there will be a Kickstarter so I can save up cash as they can run to a higher price point.
Co-op crawlers game with a competitive side...might be something like Siege of the Citadel and Arcadia Quest: Masmorra.
With 3rd Offensive being announcement to preorder of just a month, and the book out a month later, 8 months seems like a long lead in. I know Defiance is a whole new game, but ... Also, November is so close to Christmas that a kickstarter can be harder to justify for me at that time. I’m really excited, but it’s gonna be hard.
Well, there was a lot of discussion about how any future boardgame CB did should be launched via Kickstarter. More for marketing than crowdfunding 'though.
