I still think Spiral Corps offers a lot if powerful and unique tools. Maybe people simply struggle to put them together in the right way.
Most of us won't have many, if any, games under the belt with Spiral or the new Tohaa units. I sure have not and will keep my final verdict until I've had plenty of time testing.

What's really annoying is the lack of a Libertos in Spiral Corps, though.

I would have prefered if it came more with a buff to the bombs, my prefered change thats still possible is that there are only two kaeltar profiles one with shotgun one with combi both with coc and each has one bomb and one mate. The change now made the bombs quite a bit weaker and thats good.
Another aspect I dislike that the mate change is a nerf for our HIs and the TAG because they get the least out of the new mates and these units were already not really popular. I am curious what the future will bring

Sry, but CB killt my optimism I tried to have the last year.
Most of the profiles for vanilla Tohaa are alibi profiles to say we can't complain cause we got new toys for them.
After I red the rules for Stratocloud I'm down to one useful unit from Spiral for Vanilla.

like @borings stated, they gave us a worst Vanilla Tohaa faction and try it to sell as the new hot shit.
Or perhaps we aren't there target group and we can go to hell in the opinion of CB.
I understand CB that the have to sell things, but to be sold by them isn't a nice feeling.

I was exited for a new way to play Tohaa, and I don't mean this bullshit of leave your comfort zone that stated so wildly from the "Sprial is amazing" faction.

@OrderMonkey I think we have the critical mass that we should have found these combos already. If you are looking into the Foreign Company or Dashat subsection, there are those tings already found. But I'm happy if you would be right.

I feel frustrated. When I saw that a new kit for Tohaa would be released soon, at first I expected it to be a sectorial for Tohaa. But it turned out that this is NA2. I put it up.
Then I saw an interesting profiles (in the list, which was played on the video) and I expected they add them to the vanila Tohaa. But it turned out that the best profile only for SC. I put it up again.
Then they published a full profiles, where Escorts had viral pistol, where lieutenant kriigel with smoke cost 0.5 SVC, and in the book the Draals had a stratuscloud with unactive symbioarmor. But it all turned out to be untrue. And I put it up AGAIN.
After all, I was still expecting the steep profile of the Chaksa Longarms and Greif (Grief) operator. And here again the deception. OMG that profiles so terrible i don't understand why they cost so much and haven't NOTHING. After that I feel myself fully disapointed.
I was waiting for this 3 years and get only negative after all.

Others armies received much more imbalance combos and units Dahshat Company received Rui Shi with 18 BS (15+cover ignore with msv2) and burst 5 and Dog and 20 regular orders. Shasvastii received new SHESKIIN with 15 bs 2(3|4) wounds and FT2 and 5 burst. Ramah same.
So many sweets for all but not for Tohaa.

    They even don't up Neema.

And yes nerf for symbyomate and symbyobomb.

Also SC haven't any Elite troops Elite Arme haven't Elite troops.

But i really fall in love with Draals.

Well I'm happy to do that. Was there anything specific you wanted me to discuss or just general thoughts tips etc?

Hmm. Mostly looking for anecdotes of good experiences, I think. What's some fights you've taken and games you've had where it's been valuable?

@Erolag FYI Draal do not lose stratuscloud in inactive symbioarmour provided they activated it previously. :)

I think that at least needs verification, as they no longer have the skill.

So at the end of the day the Anaconda is not all that different from an ectros and we all like ectros right?

On its own its never going to be a murdery kill monster that is going to single handledly demolish a top tier opponent. But it does fight the vast majority of troops in the game quite well.

Three key things that are on my mind when using them.

    1) the anaconda is big and that means it can vault big things to get weird angles on your opponent. Like a lesser climbing plus.
    2) your pilot always falls out into a puddle of smoke giving you some semblence of safety.
    3) its not a monster dont fight achilles

The anaconda itself brings a solid suite of guns I favor the HMG but the DTW and the Panzerfaust make it surprisingly flexible.

In the list I use an anaconda I always bring an HD+, Smoke and an MSV sniper. The sniper and the anaconda form my one-two punch for opening up the board.

My anaconda has often cleared MSV snipers by virtue of judicous Whitenoise zones.

In one game I had a bashi bazouk drop in and trade for my Jaguars leaving me smokeless. Ultimately the anaconda walked out fought 3 guys at once, died and left me the smoke my sniper used to clear the rest of the threats.

I have vaulted tallish buildings only to habe the anaconda die but spit out the pilot safely in the table quarter I needed her in.

I have drawn a bead on a protected Black Friar by climbing infantry proof crates as well.

I have also successfully used the anaconda to mop up a joanstar. But fighting mostly immobilized folks post em grenade isnt overly impressive.

losing symbioarmor is not one of the cancellation clauses of the state. the equipment just lets them activate the state

I've gone to the rules forum on it. As Borings notes, stratuscloud has a set number of things that cancel it and losing the equipment isn't one of them.

However you do run a risk if you don't activate the cloud early, since losing the equipment will prevent you being able to activate the cloud to start with.

I really like the new profiles (not all of them, but the ones I like, I like), and I love the alliance of species that Spiral Corps can manifest on the table, but I admit that I got bummed out by the discontinues, especially as most of those models have just hit my painting table finally for an upgrade out of primer. It's definitely a big paradigm shift, and while it is one that theoretically matches my playstyle more closely, I'm waiting to see what it feels like on the table before I finalise my feelings.

Definitely bittersweet, however. I always feel like I'm missing something when I'm making a list now.

I think it's not a good idea, to prime your minis, play with them, and after some time, actually paint them. You'll leave grease on it, that prevent the paint from sticking to it.

After removing mould lines, assembling, brushing with some copper brush, removing the mouldlines you found because of shiny surface again, you are supposed to wash the whole stuff with soap or something, to remove grease, and from this point your mini is gone from gaming, until you prime, paint and varnish it (gloss twice for protecting the paint, matt for it to look not shiny).

In our year of Tohaa we got the hardest nerf possible and got only plain bad released. Not mentioning dropping the production of some miniatures here.

This is some kind of joke. I really feel myself being pushed away from my faction. I bet anything this nerf and those useless profiles driven only by commercial reasons and not by the playtesting.

Have you played much with the Draal, Kriigel or Taagma? Draal especially have cracked open a whole bunch of previously tricky matchups for Tohaa. They're exceptional.

That said: you're not obliged to feel happy about the changes, and if you're down that's a totally valid emotional reaction. If you're really genuinely upset, play some stuff you think will actually make you happy, which doesn't have to be this faction or even game. But if you're just kinda bummed and uncertain, I encourage you to give some of the stronger new stuff a go.
