I suppose since Spiral has its own forum now I'll start fussing with some lists in here. I've been struggling to figure out how to piece together something I like. I stumbled on the first stable feeling list this morning and posted it over in the ole' Tohaa forums but here it is here for Spiral Centric folks. (1 | 15) 4.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army I also spent alittle time trying to come up with a list I liked using the main box as a base. starter box, Taagma, Warcor, Diplomatic Delegate ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 KIEL-SAAN (Special Fireteam: Triad) Red Fury, Panzerfaust / Heavy Pistol, DA CC Weapon, Shock CC Weapon. in the second list are u going for special triad kiel saan and 2 draal? i dont know.. draals have forward deployment lvl 2 and kiel san dont how do you manage that?
FD2 is exactly 8", which would still be in Coherency as long as you find a spot for the big guy close to the DZ border.
Not specifically but as Teslarod mentions it is theoretically possible and they could team up later in the game if needed.
@TheRedZealot that's a really interesting take on the Kriigel and Reex combo. I was fairly lackluster on the Reex but I think it's possible you've got a whole there that's greater than the sum of its parts.
@TheRedZealot I would dig up 6 points and upgrade the Kriigel Agents to the Smoke LGL version in the first list.
Im not sure I follow. Why would I want to take away the main reason I want the Kriigel? (The PheroBooster) Smoke is certainly useful but I'd rather have the extra Pharmonic Weapon in that specific list.
Sorry I was not aware of the Targeted state side-effect of the PheroBooster… Still I believe adding smoke (Kerail Preceptors exclusively) would increase the efficiency of the list. Indeed It's not obvious how to fit him in. PheroBooster has a shortish range of 24...
You're probably not wrong, having smoke would be nice in the list. I could also look at including another Helot without losing anything major but I'd like to see how this one plays then start looking at the gaps and refine from there. I also feel like my first reply there was overly agressive sorry about that. I was genuinely curious about how you saw the list playing out/fitting together and why you were valuing smoke the way you were :)
No problem, mate! Time to playtest! Probably It's my thing that I love smoke. I have played quite a lot of factions (ten) and every time I had no access to smoke (the smoke nade wielder gunned down most cases) I felt the absence heavily,
I'm diggin that 20 order list man! I love the PheroBooster too... Just give that option after the hit... Give you a second high power range weapon... I think that profile is Win Win when used right
Someone asked me to post my current spiral list over here in the Spiral forums, so here we go: Scrimmage ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) TAAGMA Lieutenant Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) DRAAL (Minelayer) AP Marksman Rifle, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Viral Pistol, Knife. (1 | 40) TAAGMA (Tri-Core) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21) KRIIGEL Breaker Combi Rifle + Smoke Light Grenade Launcher / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27) CLIPSOS Minelayer Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) GROUP 2 4 4 CLIPSOS (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) GREIF-OP (CH: Mimetism, Forward Deployment L2) Shock Marksman Rifle / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (0 | 25) KAAURI Sentinel Submachine Gun, 2 Nanopulsers, Nullifier / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 12) KAAURI Sentinel Submachine Gun, 2 Nanopulsers, Nullifier / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 12) HELOT MILITIAMAN Submachine Gun, Light Rocket Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 9) HELOT MILITIAMAN Submachine Gun, Light Rocket Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 9) HELOT MILITIAMAN Submachine Gun, Light Rocket Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 9) DIPLOMATIC DELEGATE (iKohl L1, Specialist Operative) Nanopulser, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army To note, the Taagma teamed with Chaksas deploy as Chakas (yes, six chaksas, but the fireteams make it obvious that there's Taagma about so its still the best camo - is that a badly deployed flamethrower, or an MSV2 multi sniper?) and the Tricore Taagma deploys as a Kriigel agent for basically the same reason. If you feel like experimenting you can swap a Greif marksman and Helot LRL for a Greif impersonator and Helot Marksman Rifle. Both Greif profiles are fine and interesting, basically worth the points and you can't fit any more Clipsos. I've used this both ways and I like that the impersonator is cheaper but I also like deploying the Greif marksman in a stratocloud with the Draal if I'm going second. If you do take the Greif impersonator, my preferred role for it is to reserve drop down behind enemy infiltrators to discover and kill them by catching them out of cover. I've got more work to do on it and want to fit in a Preceptor in some lists, plus also try Neema in place of the Draal, but the Draal has added just another layer of pain and problems for my opponents so far so I'm loathe to cut it.
Messing around with LI Lists for Spiral, it seems a whole lot harder here than other armies. I haven't fielded the Kiel-San yet so I don't know how sturdy it is solo. Here's what I've got so far. Core fireteam for ARO work, Tri-core to push up the table with Breaker and AP. I'm not set on the Rasail pair, but they're scary in their own right, just not sure what else I would work in there. The Taagma could be dropped to a regular 16pt model if points/swc were an issue. I want to write a list with a Kiel-Saan triad in it. I'll tinker around this later today, but wondered if anyone had anything they were already thinking of for such a list?
I too am planning on tinkering with that idea @RobertShepherd , Kiel-san just looks like too much fun. Haven't even touched spiral corps lists yet though.
Adding Draal Saboteurs in a fireteam is an interesting idea, but I see some minor problems. To begin with the unit will cost you an arm and a leg pointswise. (It's not really a problem in LI, and the fireteam is rather light on SWC - this is a huge advantage in SC, as far as I can see…) Since the Kiel-Saan has to be in ZoC of the Draal, he will suffer from StratusCloud if they move too close. The other fireteam (Kaauri) also looks very interesting, dragging a medic with you is never a bad idea to keep the big guys up and fighting. Unfortunately this unit is even more expensive. The main drawback I see in stuffing the Kiel-Saan in a fireteam however is the dilemma you will face in case you roll something movement-related on the Metachemistry roll (enhanced movement, climbing plus, super-jump) and you are unable to exploit this in a fireteam. There is a decent (75%) chance the problem will not even manifest, however… How about something like this: Spiral Corps ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 8 KIEL-SAAN (Special Fireteam: Triad) Red Fury, Panzerfaust / Heavy Pistol, DA CC Weapon, Shock CC Weapon. (1 | 53) DRAAL Submachine Gun, Pulzar, D-Charges, Dazer / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30) DRAAL Submachine Gun, Pulzar, D-Charges, Dazer / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30) NEEMA Lieutenant (Advanced Command) Spitfire, Nanopulser / Viral Pistol, Shock CCW. (1.5 | 48) TAAGMA (Tri-Core) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21) KAELTAR Light Shotgun, Flash Pulse + 2 SymbioBombs / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) RASAIL Spitfire + 1 Chaksa Peripheral / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 39) CHAKSA PERIPHERAL Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (- | 4) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) GROUP 2 3 KRIIGEL Breaker Combi Rifle + Smoke Light Grenade Launcher / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27) REEX Boarding Shotgun, Contender, Nanopulser / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) REEX Boarding Shotgun, Contender, Nanopulser / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) 6 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army Needs some refinement, but the idea is I believe clear: Kiel-Saan and Neema go hunting, Kriigel to cover the fireteams with smoke. Rasail and Chaksa are there to fill out the list, should be swapped. Awesome list, thanks for sharing! Speial thanks for changing my mind regarding the Greif Operators! I had not considered them as a midfield enemy infiltrator harassment unit... Right tools for the right task.
A lot of the lists I have been making seem to end up with a fairly similar core of Spiral Corps ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) TAAGMA (Tri-Core) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21) DRAAL (Minelayer) AP Marksman Rifle, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Viral Pistol, Knife. (1 | 40) KRIIGEL Submachine Gun, Phero-Booster / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24) KAELTAR (Chain of Command) Light Shotgun, Flash Pulse + 2 SymbioMates / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 21) NEEMA Lieutenant (Advanced Command) Spitfire, Nanopulser / Viral Pistol, Shock CCW. (1.5 | 48) KOSUIL Engineer Boarding Shotgun, D-Charges, Panzerfaust / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) 6 SWC | 233 Points Open in Infinity Army From there spending the remaining points on a mission specific piece or two and helots/Kerail
Good list base, @spears ! Just being curious: why exactly the Kosuil instead of Kumotail? You find doctoring redundant? You prefer a capable gunfighter? For that 0.5 SWC you could include a Kriigel with smoke grenade launcher. Smoke is always handy.
Partly just habit, I don't particularly like doctoring stuff but to be honest that's probably a distaste from N2 still. I find the Kosuil brings passive bonuses to the table with the weaponry and symbio armour whereas the Kumotail is often just dead weight. You are right about the smoke though, certainly something to play around with.
