Ah, those Nahabs are everything I've ever wanted. AD/Infiltration CQC Specialist with great stats... I'd have so much fun with them both in Ramah and Vanilla =D I also like the amount of very agressive and fast specialist we've recieved on top of those we've already had.
There are actually a ton of aggressive units in the sectorial - arguably as many as HB, but trading Religious and Dogged for NWI and other skills. Between all the high movement, AD, and Tuareg, I'm having trouble picking units that are defensive as its so easy to put a Khawarij or Namurr into a Ghulam link.
Guess that's the purpose of Zhayedan Haris, maybe? I'd certainly try them out for defensive purposes.
Naffatuns are excellent short range defense, Zhays might work for midrange but it'll take some experimenting to figure out what the defensive options look like.
As someone who is used to 5-7 pts units as his defensive setup, I have no idea how to use 30 pts models for roughly the same purposes while thinking of that as defensive expenses and not as of myself being gutted. On a side note, Hortlak sniper is rough in reactive while in a link, but that's very expensive link, and said piece is not immune to -6s and smoke, unlike certain someone.
I see some value in a mix of Ghulams and Naffatuns, possibly with a Khawarij HRL in the mix. A single Hortlak sniper, the trusty Shihab, or (if you want to go big) the Maghariba Guard are options too. I see myself falling into a similar trap as I do with the Hassassin Bahram: Fiday, Farzan, Asawira, and basically anything with Dogged begs to be used offensively and I get hung out to dry in the reactive.
Can someone please confirm if the Maghariba Guard Fireteam: Duo is for two TAGs, or strictly for the TAG and the REM option (the Rafiq)? Sorry if this has been asked already - I'm just trying to catch up.
Welcome to half of the armies in the game... Ramah will play very different from normal Haqq. Its almost Haqq's Tunguska...
As far as I understand The Duo profiles of the TAGs can form a Duo with another TAG. The one with the Rafiq is a special link.
Given the Fireteam options are Duo *and* Special, I take this to mean you can do a typical Duo of two Magharibas or the Rafiq + Mag.
Thanks for the answer! This is certainly going to put a new spin on the 400-point Limited Insertion games my Aleph player enjoys so much. I'm really excited for this sectorial.
I think it might better be compared to Haqq's Invincible Army. We're not really a heavy infantry army but this is how we do straight gunfighting.
Well, IA's mostly unique trait is, ugh, deep penetration with a single blunt instrument thanks to those extra orders in a group, so better order efficiency as long as main squad lives. Ramah is rather different, although yes, we do just shoot stuff most of the time, it seems. Well, I'm pretty sure that using something like 100pts haris of dudes that perform like fusiliers without SSL2 in their reactive turn for the defence is not very solid play in any of that another half of the armies :P
That's because it's not. Zhayedan, like a lot of the elite LI options in Ramah, are pretty bad in the reactive turn. If you're looking at spending that much on a model you intend to use defensively, I'd suggest the Hortlak sniper or a TR bot. If you're really worried about defense, then take a core ghulam link that actually has ghulams in it and use it like any other core team of line infantry.
Sorry, I should clarify. I was agreeing with you that they don't seem appealing as a defensive setup.
Um ... as a lot of units "count as a Ghulam" can i create a Fire team core of Ghulams and not us a a single Ghulam in it ?? 0-0 and call it - " ye this is my Ghulam link " deal with it
Yes, you Declare that you're forming a Ghulam link then choose up to 5 troopers who are allowed to join it. If none of those 5 are actual Ghulam this isn't a problem.
