Regen also includes Shock Immunity. Though I agree, rolling them both in to one skill would also make it possible to coordinate heal Unconscious Hakims and Zhayedan.
I agree there's not much difference between them. If you have the orders an Asawira can use Regen to get back to two wounds before facing off against a Missile Launcher or Heavy Flamer, and if you fail you can try again or use a nearby Doctor Plus, and then Regen again.
I don't think I had realized Regen gives you shock immunity, since up until this point I've really only played Hassassins it never game up because Asawira are already shock immune from having two wounds. That is a nice bonus for Hakim and Djans. However, it does make it even more of a shame that Zhayedan have automedikit instead of regen. Though, realistically speaking, I don't t know that I'd be that much more inclined to take one if the only change was they got regen.
What if they got a new skill – let's call it "AutoMedjector," based on the medigun the Hakims have – that was like an AutoMedikit but gave them +3 on their PH roll? Then they have a 70% chance to pass their roll. I don't actually think they will get this, nor will CB even create this skill, but it's an interesting thing to think about.
They could go a lot of ways with it. +3 might be too much but having it not cost an order would be the best way to go about it in my mind. Make it some equivalent to disposable (1) if worried about spamming it.
I've often thought that you should be able to use Automedikit/Regeneration for free at the end of your turn, like with Holoprojector 2.
Yeah, the AMK is a bummer for Zhayedan. It is objectively worse than Regeneration, which has a precedent in the army. Based on the Zuyong, the AMK costs 4 points but Regeneration is probably at least as expensive since it has Shock Immunity rolled into it. Having coordinated resurrecting Djanbazans as well, doing the same with Hakims and Zhayedans would have been great and CB made a explicit choice not to have that be possible. While I don't think this will be changed, if I had my druthers, there would be a number of solutions to this issue (that will not happen): 1. Automedikit changes from Entire Order to Automatic Equipment or Short Skill, i.e. without an order being spent on it. While this would help Zhayedans, it would also make many other units that much more powerful (e.g., the aforementioned Zuyong HMG). 2. Count Automedikit and Regeneration as the same skill for the purposes of coordination. This solution would only affect Haqqislam as that is the only faction with both rules in it (unless I'm missing something), but is confusing for the generally clear use of what can be coordinated (e.g., not even different types of deployables). 3. Drop AMK for Shock Immunity or Bioimmunity and forget getting wounds back, then get a price break since there's probably a dozen doctors in spitting distance anyway. Or only have it on some profiles and you can choose if you want a hitty marksman Zhayedan, a kinda survivable Zhayedan, or the overpriced combo. 4. Swap for Regeneration. @Xeurian Disposable (1) is a very interesting idea too!
The Automedikit has been useful in my time but it is a niche and expensive piece of kit. I do find Zhayedan tricky to get strong use out of, though if they get a MML2/Breaker Haris Profile I can see myself putting a Sniper with that as an experiment. I wish they all had MML2 though. The reason for an Automedikit over Regeneration is that in the background Zhayedan are a Veteran Corps of non-enhanced troops because that has various uses and benefits ("they've tailored a bioweapon to target our enhanced troops! Better send in the Zhayedan!" etc)
Someone made a video of the book on Facebook. It was super blurry, but I was able to make out that Naffutans, Khawarijj, and Namurrs all count as Ghulam.
Khwarijis are surprise. I was expecting Zhayedans as a dedicated shooter in a cheap link. Namurr is weird too. Naffattuns, on the other hand, is something I totally expected to get a "another line infantry profile for the purpose of links" treatment though. Indeed.
How about a these as concept ideas for automed and regen. Automedkit becomes disposable 2, and is changed so that when a trooper moves to the unconscious state, you can elect to immediately use the kit for free. On a successful phys roll they remain alive but are prone, and on a fail they pass straight to dead, but you can elect not to use it and just go unconscious. Also it cant be used against weapons that would bypass the unconscious state like shock. Next, keep regen the same, but limit it to 1 use per player turn and make it so failing the phys roll doesnt cause a wound or kill the trooper. Both reworks would fit the fluff and dont seem overpowered for their current price to me.
If i remember correctly, that's the way regeneration used to work in N2, so it's unlikely they're revert it.
Veteran is becoming a lot more valuable with more EM weapons becoming a thing. Immune to Isolation! Naffs with link bonuses... that's utterly terrifying!
I guess not, but I'm used to seeing the Inferior-Infiltrating Grunt HFTs, linked Grunts are always the MMX snipers.
I agree, so look at them next to Govads. The profiles only differ by a point of CC, and they're both veterans. The breaker rifle and sniper Zhayedan costing 10 and 6 more than their Govad equivalents makes sense, since we're paying for marksmanship. But why does the HMG Zhayedan cost 3 more than the HMG Govad? Even if we give the Govad its breaker pistol for free, then the automedkit costs 3 more than MSV1. The missile launcher profiles cost the same, but the Govad gets a light shotgun, while the Zhayedan has to rely on a normal pistol up close. Again, I would conclude the automedkit is valued higher than the more useful MSV1.
Nahabs are amazing... So many Count as Ghulams for fireteam comps... Can't wait to have a Fireteam Core with Naffatuns, a Namurr, Khawariji Tarik and Leila... Holy crap.
RTF looks amazing! I can't wait to try them out. Rafiqs seem to get a Red Fury profile, that's pretty cool!
