One could say those things but the leader of the other Sectorial would take it as a personal insult that they couldn't do it with their own forces. Pride and influence are what drives the leaders of the different countries in Haqqislam. The Hachib President uses this in order to make sure that none of the 4 ever grow too powerful. Honestly, reading through the N3 lore book, the HSN3 lore book and the RPG stuff really filled out the way Haqqislam works and functions within the Human Sphere. I really wanted Djanbazans in RTF because I want MSV2 in it but after reading through all the lore, I came to the cold realization that those dreams aren't coming true. Honestly, I don't think the Asawira need to be in the RTF to get new sculpts. The Hassassin starter and Muyibs re-sculpts came out of now where so maybe in 2018 we can get some new ones.
Well, I don't really understand why the Muyibs were resculpted... it's not as if the change was huge, aside from the medic one carrying a "gun" (the medikit... which looks a lot like a taser), or the weapons' design. I would have understood better a new 4 Yuan Yuan box, frankly! XD
I'm so tempted to start practicing kitbashing just to replace it with a normal pistol or something. But let's say I managed to pass my WIP test to prevent myself from going on a rant about entire concept of these "mediguns". Other than that, new sculps are really much better detailed, and some of them greatly improved in terms of gear stylistic (Fiday would be a great example as far as hassassins go), but it's true that models which use helmets and clumsy-ish clothing/armor to conceal small details (or rather them being lacking) don't age too poorly in comparison.
Well, I've realized that sometimes the miniatures have too much detail, which is great for "pro painters" but for me it just... blocks me from keeping painting. And it's something that has happened to me on almost all Haqq models but the QK starter and Yuan Yuan -.-U
al'Hawwa are Navy's troops as well (Naval Scouts, to be precise, also undercover operatives and "air marshalls"). I don't recall reading of Hafzas as Naval personnel, but I didn't paid close attention to the fluff in HSN3 (back in HS they weren't Navy, but it might've been retconned). As for Djanbazan, they are said to be Muhafiz (Security & Counterintelligence Agency's) troops, but in one of the fluff bits a commander of a Djan search group is listed as bearing a naval rank (chief petty officer, if memory serves me). So it is possible that Muhafiz itself is a QK Armada's element. Resulting in Djanbazan being effectively Navy troops, too... As for the rivalry between Space Admirality and the Qapu Khalqi Armada, well, one is a regular Navy, and the other is mostly a motley collection of corsair ships (having the appropriate letters of marquee from the Sultan, of course). Of course they tend to prove each other who's better, the problem is thay can't really compare their dick sizes ;) directly. Then again, inter-service rivalry is an old tradition in armed forces. Our squad is better than the other squad in our platoon, but our platoon is betterthan the other platoon of the same company, and so on, and so on, up to the level where our nation's military as a whole is better than the other nation's military (even if we're allied nations), despite of what we grunts think about them sissy sailors and wimpy airmen (and stone-for-brains marines, if marines are a separate corps in our nation's military).
Unfortunately I currently in a place where I don't have access to my HSN3 lorebook to fully confirm if the Hafza are Naval Officers or not. Errhile, the Muhafiz is indeed specifically apart of Qapu Khalqi. They confirm it in the Infinity RPG corebook when they talk about being an al'Hawwa for the Muhafiz and how they are the Security and Counterintelligence Agency for Qapu Khalqi. Interesting tidbit from the RPG, it says that on the service, the Muhafiz is used to protect the silk routes for the Funduq but off the books, they provide intelligence for the Sword of Allah and other government agencies when they don't want to involve the Hassassins and the Old Man of the Mountain. al'Hawwa is a unit that they capitalize a lot, much of the RPG revolves being one. That rivalry does amuse me a greatly, it's another thing I learned from the RPG and I thought it was really interesting. It is definitely reminiscent of those rivalries seen in the armed forces, I definitely prefer being a puddle pirate than being a bullet sponge aka grunt. :tonguewink:
So I'm thinking of house ruling Ramah locally. Do we think putting Haris on the Rifle Khawarij seems right? Core on Ghulam / Zhayedan? I won't mix links until they're confirmed. I also want to bump this resource in light of recent speculation.
That definitely sounds reasonable. One of my other theories is the a zhayden or two will be able to join a Naffatun link.
I think we're going to see Naffatun linking with Ghulams, but Zhayaden as a sort of officer unit linking with Gulam / Naffatun would be fascinating. Although, tbh, I don't know how I often I'd want him taking point with the Naffatun. I suppose the sniper would be the best choice, helping provide some long ranged support? Should the Khawarij Haris have a SWC cost? 0.5?
First of all, we need to know if we are getting more profiles for existing units. Like naffatun, for example. That's going to affect link building considerably.
I can see the Naffatun getting a light rocket launcher profile. It fits with their incendiary theme and gives them some medium range weaponry, assuming they aren't going to get a mixed troop link.
Doc would be great too. Would like them to keep templates, ofc. Then again, slapping people with B2 DTWs and then getting your shooter back sounds dirty. May or may not ensure that Zhayedan will be the only doc that link is going to get.
I've heard rumors of a Naffatun Engineer, back in the old forums. That would give them a specialist profile, but avoid the issue of immortal DTW.
I honestly don't see why RTF can't have entirely new, unique troops with the exception of Ghulams, REMs, Najjaruns and such basic line forces. Expecting about half a dozen new options including the much rumoured Mukhtar, so probably a S2 HI of some sort, maybe an AD troop of some sort, and then who knows. Another super soldier on top of the Mukhtar and Khawarij would be cool!
What would the faction need from the Mukhtar? They already have a very proficient S5 HI that covers a lot of roles with his smoke, HMG and HRL and nice stats.
RTF doesn't have a "standard" HI currently. One interesting thought is they could do a 2w LI or MI to fill that role while still being very unique and fitting for the faction.
Depending on what you mean by this question, the answer may be that a lot of existing units had an RTF label in their dossiers.
I'd make the Mukhtar like a WB/HI cross, all buffed up. That makes then distinct from the Khawarij and such. 6-2, 22, 13, 14, 14, 4, 3, 2, 2, Regular, Impetuous Kinematica L1, Natural Born Warrior DACCW, Heavy Pistol, Smoke Grenades, Rifle+LSG - costs around as much as an Asawira maybe Etc etc etc. Now you have a S2 in RTF which is also a super-soldier and covers your warband needs, without feeling like cheap throaway tat which goes against the more elite feel of the Sectoral. I hope to see troops vaguely like this in RTF anyway. The Al Fasid is cool but it's also expensive and has two loadouts, and also is a relatively long ranged beast. Something more assault-y please!
Amid the speculation of Rama units i came up with a stroke of late night genius inspired by the new venom trailer! Haqq experiments with tohaa symbiotes to create a new supersoldier! Make the name a play on venom and make it a human soldier with symbiote armor and maybe some other cool abilities. Just give it a handful of original flavor to mix with this pinch of inspiration to come up with a super cool unique unit.
@Solar That's a really cool looking profile! It's interesting to see that we all want some sort of CQB or melee assault piece. I'm personally hoping for a Magister Knight equivalent, but this more elite version could also be great. Heavy pistol + Spitfire or would be really interesting. @Agorapocalypse I dunnd man. While I very much want more supersoldiers, using alien symbiotes seems against some of our focus on humanity. Nomads might try that kind of thing, but I like to think that we are better than them. Less risky, more pure. It certainly could be a cool special character though. Someone infected in the line of duty.
