@xagroth wrote in Daedalus' Fall thread that he heard rumors of Spculo Killers being minelayers for free. If it is truth than it is really big boost for Shas and their defence.
Certainly would increase the utility of speculos when going second! Not that they are worthless as is... I fear that may just be a rumor, though.
The new concept art for speculos certainly shows mines as one of their weapon options. So it is conceivable that they might be a minelayer option. Only one more sleep until we can find out.
It is. I played once against a Shas player who took four Shrouded minelayers and tried to infiltrate them all, and succeeded on two of them. Was such a giant pain the butt to deal with that on turn 1.
I keep forgetting that in N3 they removed the restriction from Minelayer that you are not allowed to place the mine such that it has any enemy models in its trigger area. I think this sounds like a bad idea, even worse than inferior infiltration grunts with HFTs.
To clarify, I would not oppose them getting mines, as some Fidays have, but minelayer seems excessive.
This is my primary concern when I'm complaining about Morats not getting minelayer. Nothing but your own camo tokens and your opponents luck stands between you and your deployment zone getting boobytrapped by infiltrating minelayers. Impersonating minelayers would be bloody awful.
I would love Onyx and USARF to get it too. Especially for missions like Looting & Sabotaging (not that that mission isn't trash anyway though).
I agree, but I'm speaking solely of keeping your DZ free from the area of effect of predeployed mines. USARF can put out double digits of camo tokens to defend themselves, and Ariadna in general can go die in a fire. Onyx could just not hidden deploy some TO camo if they absolutely had to in order to corral enemy minelayers. .. and while it would feel just terrible to do it, it's at least an option. Morats are S.O.L. BUT I'm not going to beat that dead horse anymore. Today.
Anyone notice that in the Sectoral it shows Nox as Total AVA but in the profile it showed as AVA 5? Is that what Vanilla is going to get? Before it was 2 Seed Soldiers.
'I saw video on the facebook with sectorial chart and what we saw is correct. ยจ Special fireteams are: up to 4 Nox + T-Drone FTO Tensho expert count as Nox troop Duo Gwailo + M- Drone FTO haris Gwailo + 2 M-Drone FTO Sheskiin, Victor Messer and Hasht are wildcards.
So many troops not linkable - very suggestive of marker states and/or deployment skills :) Tensho Expert is AVA1 and counts as a Nox... really curious what that unit will end up being. As it stands, Nox don't make a particularly good defensive fireteam, in that they lack the BS or visual mods to stand out with their MSR or HMG, but also aren't really cheap enough to just be a throwaway unit either. With any luck, the Tensho Expert will bring something to the team that makes this work. Otherwise, 4 Nox and a T-Drone might be the way to go. edit: Also pretty clear that this is a retelling of the original Campaign Paradiso, given that Ko-Dali's original tiger soldier profile makes an appearance in that book. She was captured and sepsitor'd during Phase 1 of the campaign iirc.
I love doing that. Did it with a minelayer and a Speculo during armory once and my opponent spent his entire first turn killing the shrouded and revealing the Speculo. Short circuited everything he tried, which suggest to me that Minelayer Speculo is unlikely. But hell my old 4 shrouded 2 Q Drones and 2 Speculos list would look pretty sweet with that.
