Snake Eaters are the elite light infantry and skirmishers or Varuna. The Kamau, crocmen, Zulu Cobras, and Echo Bravos who add flexibility and killing power to VIRD. Which are your favorite snake eaters and why? The Zulu Cobra with marksman rifle has been getting an absurd amount of work done for me. 25 points for a bs13 camo token with spitfire ranges is amazing. He wins gunfights like it’s his profession. The x visor makes him even more flexible, and able to outrange hmgs and rocket launchers when the need arises. Crocman FO or AHD. Having mines is a necessity. I’d love to see a cheap profile with mines in VIRD, but a TO camo model who brings the amazing toolkit or mines, objective grabbing, and an x-visor combi with -6 mods is incredible. Echo Bravo paramedic is one of the most versatile of a bunch of versatile elites. Combi+light shotgun is the dream for pano. Choosing between a combi or a boarding shotgun inevitably means I wish I had chosen the other. Add to that the absurdity that is the wild parrot and suddenly you’ve got the ability to deal with almost any target within 16 inches.
Zulu Cobra are my new addiction. They're just so good at whatever you need them to do. That said, the Kamau still and always will hold a special place too due to their aggressive play and Navy SEAL theme. Generally I think Varuna is a really well executed and thematic, yet functional and strong army. #happyPanO
Kamau and Zulu Cobras are as close as an auto include as you can get, for me. Cheap firepower in the form of an 1 SWC HMG, the best linkable sniper in the game and some camo toolkit units are really really hard to beat.
Ha, at this point @yoink101 you probably know what I'm going to say even better than I do. I think I have an obligation to go with Echo Bravos. They're not necessarily better than all the other choices, but I have a connection to them, and they're just so stylish and creative as a unit. Honestly, the more that I play, the less attached I become to any particular profile. They're all tools in the toolbox. And while this may feel a little detached... I honestly love the hell out of the entire Sectorial.
I haven't had a chance to play one yet, but I think my pick has got to be the Zulu Cobra w Marksman Rifle. It's exactly the kind of unit which PanOceania has been lacking, as well as a powerhouse in its own right. I mean, compare it to the Locust... it's just unfair.
I've only gotten two games in, but I do like them so far. They are the reason I picked Varuna as my next faction, and my second faction that is actually a choice instead of whatever's second-hand. So far both games the first F2F is with the Kamau, he rolls over their target BS, then gets crit. We'll see how long anything with at least 1 BS left can one-order him. Can't really judge so far because my only choice has been deployment. Echo-Bravo is going to be a favorite because I use a lot of drop troops and I'm a boring person that wants slight variations on the same thing. First game he got a ton of hits, incluidng hitting a HI with the parrot (but getting rolled), and while he only managed to get thru ARM once overall I can't see anything wrong with him. Second game he got crit on his first f2f. I would use him and Tomcats on the same faction which is saying a lot. I really love the Bandit Combi because of getting a fast token state with good BS and a wide rangeband. While I do miss the CC and full infiltration the better BS, WIP, stronger kit options, and access to Coord orders is pretty noticeable. The ZC with breaker combi has been getting the most hits of any individual unit, althou he has not been able to get past the 0-6 BTS guys have even once.
Sigh. I want to love the locust. Between its lack of a camo state and joke of close combat proficiency, it’s nearly impossible to. Especially when you realize that a crocman is cheaper.
For me the one that has surprised me is the zulú cobra visor x. I used it once against Hassassim Bharam, without much expectation, just to try something new, hence he never left my lists . As @yoink101 said before, it is a professional killing miniatures, especially IL and profiles of one wound, the visor X is awsome paired with shockmarksman rifle, very flexible. I usually use this Zulu with a bulleteer as the first attack weapons and they are really brilliant. And the other undisputed for me is the Kamau sniper, I have not seen many comments about her, maybe because his worth is too obvious, but this girl is worth every point, it is really lethal linked in a core and supported by helots is very good defence. In general all the new profiles of Varuna are colorful, flexible and very original.
Yeah, my surprise unit was the ZC killer hacker. I dont usually play much of a hack game. I ended up playing TAK, my last game at LVO. I didn't think I really had an answer for dude's Vet kazak link. ZC killer came in from my left flank, and cut the link to pieces with his breaker combi. It has become an almost auto-include for my ITS lists.
The breaker combi is a weapon Pano should have better access to but better late the never. If Pano is going to be the smokeless faction, skilless faction then we need to compensate with weapon variety. VIRID brings that variety to its weapon load outs which really makes it shine. The standouts are the Echo-Bravo which trade the tom cats skills for better weapon variety, a very Pano loadout and the Zulu Cobra which is what a Locust wishes it were.
echo redfury: the most cost effective profil of the game, I've totally ravaged entire army with this profile zulu KHD and jammer/combo ass.pistol, better then croc ! all of these guys have BS13 and useful kits and these days I'm playing this: 3 PATSY GARNETT Submachine Gun, Nimbus Plus Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 37) KAMAU HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 28) MACHINIST (Varuna Div.) (CH: Mimetism, Stealth, Aquatic Terrain) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 17) 1 SWC | 82 Points Open in Infinity Army very effective haris, I love it ! all range covered, NCO and two spécialists !! don't forget the Stealth for the 3
I’m fairly convinced that Croc Man is the most efficient unit in the entire game at making opponents roll on -12’s. He has enough tools to accomplish it in a vast amount of situations. TO + surprise shot + cover, TO + x-visor spacing + cover, and TO + surprise shot + x visor spacing. Add in the ability to optimize range bands vs. Special Weapons with infiltration and he hardly even needs to utilize cover to decimate opponents. Add mines to his profile and he’s an absolute nightmare for the enemy.
Yeah, offensive Crocs are actually kinda terrifying. They tend not to get used that way because PanOceania players are so short of midfield Specialists that we are desperate to use them in that role, but if you can break out of that mindset they really start to shine.
Indeed, if there's one thing I could change for Crocs, it would be giving a boarding shotgun to the Minelayer in the same way as the Naga. Right now, giving up Specialist for Minelayer on the Croc is challenging, especially when both choices are wielding Combi Rifles. Minelayer + BSG is really interesting and different though. Having that option in Acon is very useful.
actually I still prefer the combi rifle on the croc minelayer. The reason why is that the combi makes better use of the x-visor which is the real strength of the croc.
