Honestly, drop the Meteor to 0.5 SWC in Bakunin keep it at 1SWC in Vanilla and Tunguska. Would work to add character to the Sectorial. I'd avoid any new units at this stage. Which is why I think Lunokhods as an up to 1 Wildcard, Clockmakers in Moderator links and TM in Moderator links provides this 'medium priced core'.
At the moment, aside of the grrls link, playing Bakunin feels underwhelming. Most of one's line up could be easily transposed to vanilla and enjoy the amazing diversity nomads offer
Sniper medkit with stun mode! Imagine healing all your fallen morlocks all the way from deployment zone. That would be crazy, just as Bakunin should be!
Alright, first of all, I don't think it's realistic at all to think an update at this point would include new weapons or new troop profiles. However, making up troop profiles is fun, so indulging in that is fine too :D If I were to add a few troop profiles to Bakunin, I'd try to make a few more Beauvoir themed stuff, things like: Vulkanja Combat Engineer: One of those 1wound NWI shock immune Heavy Infantry that seems to be all the rage. Armor 3, BTS3, PH13 and BS13 with Hyperdynamics like Riot Grrls, but no frenzy or MSV1. They'd have all short ranged weapons like boarding shotguns and MULTI-Rifles but have the Engineer skill and a tinbot profile. Can haris with itself or a single one join a Riot Grrl team. The idea here is to represent the people who make the Riot grrl armor taking to the field themselves. They would wear some clunkier, open exosqueletons, showing that they aren't as well armored as Riots, but are able to provide that extra edge to the link. Another idea I'd do is: Praxis Combat Monstrosity: Make it an S4, mimetism, MOV 6-6 irregular and extremely impetuous warband with metachemistry lvl 2. These guys would basically be a more agressive morlock without smoke (so they don't fully supplant morlocks) but some cool template weapon like a pulzar or a heavy flamethrower. Maybe even go full hog and give them both a heavy flamethrower and an E/marat to represent the beasties being able to produce all kinds of natural weaponry. The reason I'd like this is for the chance of having some monstrous models on the table. Monsters are cool.
@DaRedOne I really like the idea of an uber morlock. I'd like it even more if they made it look like a Skorne Titan.
Hell, no way! Realize what you said. There's only one HI with engineer, the HaiDao, a unit in a sectorial based on HI that heavily needs the support of engineers. Yet it's ARM 3, BTS 0, PH 11, BS 13. And you want the same but with better BTS, PH , Hyperdinamics and a Tinbot to link them with the OP fireteam of vixens. It's like if YuJing asked for a unit exactly the same as the Nomad Interventor with HD+ but with ODD, upgrade Redrum and Tinbot.
Bakunin vs IA for a Dire Foes would be nice.... Afraid I have to agree with him, "YuJing but Better" isn't a good approach. That sounds cool though.
That would be awesome. Maybe DA CCW too to represent claws and teeth. Reminds me of this image SmaggTheSmug dropped in the Zondnautica thread: I could see this thing having a fire and/or nanotech breath weapon, and it's already basically a biotech Lunokhud. Is Praxxis really represented in Bakunin at all except Taskmaster/Zoe's lore and the nuns having ODD? It seems like such a cool design space for the game.
I want more to be done with Morlocks. They're Bakunin's line troops, but it's not practical to take anything other than the chain rifle or sometimes the smoke LGL. I also think 2019 Bakunin should probably have free or nearly free linking between Custodiers, Moiras, Healers, and Kusanagi. It's not enough to convince me to ever make an observance link again, but it would be consistent with what's going on with the rules. Taskmaster wildcard would be good and would motivate me to run offensive Moderator link teams. I always want to use the spitfire and the TM HMG would finally let a team like that close in. EDIT it would make the HRL taskmaster useable as well, since he is hot garbage on his own
Morlocks aren't line troops though, they're disposable shock troops. They definitely have some pointless profiles but that's just because the chain rifle Morlock is amazing for it's price. Definitely agree that Observance troops should all count as each other for linking. Sin-Eaters in a 5 man link sounds slightly oppressive but I'm not sure if it's wildly unbalanced compared to modern mixed teams. I could see a Haris option for Taskmasters like Kriza got and Azra'il is getting, but I'm not wild about S5s in core links. Those units are usually worth it on their own and all this fireteam mixing is getting out of hand as is. Having one rambo hitting on 19's because 4 chumps are carrying its extra ammo isn't good game design imho.
Peep this: Nobody else is arranged like that... I just wish they'd make something of it, that's all. We used to have a Morlock LT, which is the kind of thinking I'd like to see.
I stand thoroughly corrected, just looked through army and there are several extremely impetuous warband line troops.
In N2 they had a core. I honestly don't think that they'd be awful linked with Moderators if they stayed Irregular. You effectively lose an order doing that: and the difference between 6pt link fillers and 9pt link fillers is negligible. Sin-Eaters in Observance links is oppressive and I'm not ok with it. SSL2 B5 Mimmetism HMG, yeah nah. Nomads has a ridiculous amount of characters so I don't think we actually need a spec ops. We just need a way of making a Moderator Fireteam useful, and a Moira Fireteam flexible enough to compete with Grrls. Part of what annoys me about Fireteam mixing is how arbitrary it is. Tunguskas Fireteams are a hot mess. OTOH Moderators, Morlocks and TMs are all the Bakunin Police force, and Observance has always been mixing-lite. I do like the concept of Moira Novitiates as a ~20pt Moira link filler troop with Mimmetism rather than ODD. But don't think that's a short term solution. So where I'm at now: Up to 2 Morlocks in a Moderator link. TM counts as Moderators. Observance Haris, Core, Special replaces Moira Core and Custodier Haris. Kusanagi, Custodiers, Healers and Moiras all count as Observance for the purpose of Fireteam composition. Up to 1 Lunokhod is a Wildcard. Z&P Duo. Not HGL Lizard get Duo with Clockmakers. New profiles: LSG, ADHL Clockmaker, Bakunin only. KHD Combi Prowler, Bakunin only. Stun Sniper Moderator 0SWC Haris version of the BSG Healer profile. Misc changes: Prowlers. Replace CCW with Knife. Drop 1pt for Bio-immunity. Spitfire at 1.5SWC. Bravery. Bravery needs to hard coded into MI profiles. Moiras and Prowlers should not receive FD1 but rather should receive an equivalent price discount. Remove NFB from the White Noise programme. Add 0.5 SWC to the Grrls Tinbot profile.
Morlock core now! Seriously though. That might make the other profiles get used. Also Prowler KHD could have different weapon than the zero to differentiate. BSG or SMG or maybe even just a DTW, Zapper would be cool.
for a 1w trooper that I'm paying 30ish points for I'd want something half decent to F2F with otherwise it just doesn't feel great to use (looking at you AHD ekdromoi), but a nanopulsar assault pistol load out could be interesting.
Just makes it more a reactive unit I guess. Deployable Repeater Minelayer al la Kan Ren with Sniffer would be cool
I'm still a little annoyed that's not a Spektr profile. It would have been absolutely hilarious. I honestly don't think Prowlers really need that much love other than reducing their cost (in both terms of SWC and points). They have all the downsides of MI with no upsides. A SMG+Zapper profile could be interesting: but that's more 'let's just abuse undercosted weapons to "fix" a unit'. I'd be more inclined to "swap Bio-immunity for MSV1" as a solution.
Things I'd like to see changed would be: the 0.5 SWC tax on the Prowler Specialist Operative (the rest of the Prowlers are good as they are) Zoe's stupid BTS 0 Price drop or Regeneration for Sin-Eaters to make them somehow attractive Good Idea. Thanks to the 1 SWC I played the Meteor maybe twice (and never in a tournament) since my start with Infinity (=Bakunin) in 2014 there's just good enough alternatives present. When it comes to Fireteams the current ones are fine. I have no interest in a Lunokhod in my Moderators fireteam and even less interest in a total mash up of nuns. A Tsyklon or Vertigo would be nice though. Maybe Haris for the Moiras/Kusanagi + Healer (to get rid of that mandatory hacking achilles heel in Kusanagi's Special Haris). Taskmaster Haris would be nice but not with two Taskmasters (the Tunguskan version is not as good as the mixed Duo) but two Moderators* - the perfect specialist taxi. New Troop (Profile) wishes are: Moderator Vortex Spec-Ops Character with FO, WIP 13, BS 11, SMG instead of the CR, LRL, ARM 1, CH: Mimetism, Haris (* he brings the skill) SMG Prowler as a second Specialist option would be cool as well but not as a Hacker - that's Zero territory VALKYRIE! LINKABLE WITH RIOT GRRLS!!1! :D
Please keep in mind I said I didn't think any of those were realistic and I was just coming up with them for fun.. However, the statline I suggested is basically the same as a Riot Grrl, and I am aware that a model like that would cost more than a standar riot, which is not a problem for me. Saying stuff like 'Yu Jing doesn't get this, so neither should anyone else' is not something that makes sense for me. The Hac Tao is an awesome Killer Hacker AND an awesome gun platform, and it almost fits what you described for the Super Interventor, for example.
