I could count the number of times I have tossed a smoke grenade in TAK with one hand, and all of those would be from irmandinho impetuous orders

    Have you considered Mirage-5?

Off course, they are my favorite unit on the game for design and personality I think.

I have used duroc like a classical dog warrior a few time. But you pay 1swc for nothing then. And he can't be everywhere.

I should have say they need a cheaper smoke option. Not a Warband as it's not their thing. But a metro with a smoke grenade launcher would be nice.

They just got a fast moving doctor with smoke.

He's more costly than warbands but can get up the field quick, has the speed to reach doctor range without wasting too many orders, snipe end game objectives. And since he's both regular and non impetuous your not at any risk of him running out and dying, wasting orders to hold him back, and he even gives his order to the pool.

I think he's a great fit in with MRRF

He certainly is, but 1SWC is very expensive. I will try him on some button pushing mission.

Here is an idea for another camo unit that would provide 1° another camo to have some shell game, 2° a repeater, only for MRRF, wich with the alguacil, can be a real specificity of this army :

    "L'explorateur" / the explorer
Para militari troopers used to seach for new roads and open the path of the army or commercial vehicule or settlers.

Move CC BS Phy Wip Arm BTS W Size Ava
    4-4 13 10 12 13 0 0 1 2 2

    Irregular, non impetuous
    Special skill :
    Multi terrain, camo, infiltration

    Rifle / pistol E-mauler 18 pts 0.5 swc
Rifle / pistol (forward observer) 18 pts
Rifle / pistol repeater 18 pts

This is very basic, and you could have more flavor with Ambush camo, or some special skills. It's just a draft ..... but this is not going to happen any time soone. CB already have a full agenda for the coming year.

But what they could do, because it doesn't require them to sculpt anything new, and it fits the background (the army is defeated, they need to hire more mercenaries) is to had the Hunzakut AVA 1 or 2 to the MRRF. Only the repeater version if they are afraid of unexpected

And eventually Carmen (don't understand why they did not in the first place) to have some scanner ...

@Koni @Bostria any chance you got some time to playtest that ?

I like your L'explorateur idea. A name that might fit a bit better, especially with the historical context applied to most units, might be Tirailleur.

I've also been working on a new unit for FRRM that I have, unimaginatively, called the Merovingian Foreign Legion/Légion Étrangère Merovingienne. One, they just should have a foreign legion as it is, I feel, one of the most quintessentially French units. Two, I think it adds some things that were missing. That is obviously subjective. Attached are the short background for them I wrote up and the profile sheet. Please critique away. For those that don't want to download any files, these are the profiles:

    Foreign Legion
    LI, Veteran Troop, Regular
Special Skills: Forward deployment L1, Multiterrain, V:Dogged

Mov CC BS PH WIP ARM BTS W S AVA
    4-4 14 13 12 14 2 0 1 2 4

Name BS Weapons CC Weapons SWC C
Legionnaire (Haris) Rifle, Grenades Pistol, knife 0.5 30

Legionnaire T2 Rifle, Grenades Pistol, knife 0 33

Legionnaire Rifle, Grenades Pistol, knife 0 29

Legionnaire Molotok Heavy Pistol, knife 1 34

Legionnaire (Specialist Operative) Rifle, Smoke Grenades, Pistol, knife 0 32
    D-charges

Legionnaire (Chain of Command) Rifle, Grenades Pistol, knife 0 33

Special Fireteam: Core. 3 or 4 Briscards and up to 2 Legionnaires

I like your idea of foreign legionary as it is one of the iconic unit of french military in history and even nowadays. I didn't call it that because there already is a foreign compagny NA2.

Pro : I love your idea to have it do mixte FT with the briscard as they are both supposed to be vet troops. And in N3 infinity, having a full fireteam of MSV is outdated.

Con : I think that T2 rifle is out of place in Merovingia. This is a TAK weapon and should remain one. Same goes for the smoke option. I would love to have more smoke but I think it's an in faction weakness that was intended.
Instead of forward deploiement lvl 1 I would give them the medium infantry rule. That way they are on the same spot as briscard.

On the other hand, foreign is composed of ... foreigners ! So they could be ex-nomads / haq or be trained by nomad and haq and have iconique equipement of these factions like Viral rifle, hacking equipement or repeater, jammer, or even nimbus grenade. I think that is the way to go for a redesigned FRRM as the "first on the hotspot" is already covered by USAriadna and "superior firepower" is covered. Have the FRRM be the sectorial with the most weird high-tech gears.

Hopefully we will see it in 2021 or 2022 :-)

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it and know that it's needed to make the profile work and fit.

I did the T2 rifle for two reasons. First, T2 is Ariadna and every other sectorial has at least one. Second, my thinking for the background of the Legion was that it recruited from the other Ariadnan factions, more so than the sphere, and adopted some of their weapons and training. That said, I get T2 feeling weird with the French. You also bring up a good point in regards to smoke.

I'm not so sure. As a matter of fact this is Ariadna weapon before being TAK weapon at this point. For example, T2-toting folks are basically a staple of Caledonian shooting (Grey Rifles and Caterans; also Mormaers if we keep pretending they matter).

I rather doubt that Foreign Company soldiers enter their service there by bringing some highly controlled, convention-breaking equipment they casually brought with them from their previous assignments. But what do I know.

I think the general tweaks have hugely benefitted mrrf. Total immunity on Duroc has given us a really solid attack piece and he can quite happily start in the dz now. The smoke biker doc gives us another smoke option and is nifty fast specialist for those missions that have exclusion zones that shaft our normal chasseur and paracommando tactics.
Taking haris teams of the two elite infantry units gives much more flexibility than previously available. Metro links now include a great variety of specialists (alguacile hacker, paramedic, engineer) plus big guns and spec fire options. Knauf brings a great package of big gun, msv and mimetism. Anny got a better big gun and we've got reasonable engineer coverage with the moblots now being linkable.
