I like the Healer but i wonder why doesn't it have ODD like all the other Reverends? Is it all about balance? The cost is higher then the Moiras and yes, it has higher CC and BS and Mimitism but still. I don't use it because i think it's too expensive to use as a Doctor and I don't want to run out and try to heal something because it is usually more or at least as valuable as the unit it tries to heal. I really love the models, both of them! If it had ODD it would be a great healer and I would use it again. Perhaps I just want more. =|
BS13 and ODD would be huge. TBH though, I kinda wish that it had Multiterrain* and ODD but only BS12. It'd be significantly easier to remember. * Moving a Moira link through a Difficult Terrain zone is painful. :(
Indeed. Terrain zones is something we haven't used much really but I know the pain of moving them normal with 4-2. But BS12 and ODD instead of Mimitism would make them more useful for me and give them something special.
No all the fireteam members must have the same options. That being said, I also think it's kinda a drawback but as @MAlgol hinted I also think it's about balance. Can you imagine a Rev.Healer with EXP CCW and DDO? She would become a frontline killer, extremely expensive and not used the way I think CB intended we use her (as dangerous support doctor for our moiras).
Ummm.... she is a frontline killer? I've literally built lists (admittedly Recon) where that's the intended role (Multi Rifle). She plays more as support with the BSG in links.
I said "with her stats/weapons and ODD she would become...". Currently (with BS13 and Mimetism plus 6-4 move) I don't see her as a "true frontline killer". But maybe it's because I never had much luck when trying... I wouldn't mind if you shown me a list where she can shine as such. :)
She really shines in a link team with a BSG as a bodyguard. The downrange shooting and direct engagements can be left to the moiras to stack mods. I agree that on her own I don't think that I would ever use her, but as a cc19 exploding weapon and bs13 boarding shotgun with doctor that I include to give my link +1B? Sure, all day.
I want her to fill the same niche as the Hospitaller Doctor, a specialist that's capable of fighting her way to an objective, (she's comparable to a visorless Nisse in a shootout!), who can leave a Servant in the DZ to heal your Sin Eater/Intruder, and bring a 2nd servant with her for +1 burst and DAM in CC. Sadly she doesn't quite perform this role as well as I'd like for her points cost, with 4-2MOV and 1W with no NWI or Dogged being the main drawbacks.
Rev healer checks a lot of things you want off a list for one slot in a CG or Fireteam. I think people with a lot more focus on fireteam comp can appreciate paying for her. I'd certainly take her for my Wildcats. I think unlinked is best for 1 CG lists where being able to fill multiple roles for the slot is more important than cost.
I don't think she's a particularly competitive unit. That said, I've been trying her out in 10 order lists lately. If you haven't used all your points and you want a doctor then she makes a nice upgrade to a daktari. She can win f2f rolls against average units, her exp cc weapon let's her destroy objectives and non-cc units, and wip 14 makes her slightly better at healing
I'd prefer dropping her her BS to 12 for less cost or some other benefit. It just seems strange to me that the healer has better shooting skills than all the other options in the links save for Kusanagi.
The Healer is very capable. ODD would be more powerful yeah, haha, but more expensive too! The MULTI Rifle loadout is a good gunfighter, used her loads of times. The boarding shotgun adds a nice shotgun capability to a link team.
One link I've been running: Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 3 REVEREND MOIRA HMG / Pistol, Shock CCW. (1.5 | 34) REVEREND MOIRA MULTI Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 30) REVEREND HEALER Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, EXP CCW. (0 | 32) 1.5 SWC | 96 Points Open in Infinity Army Where the multi moira is the datatracker, or sometimes even the LT. This link is slow but can shoot like crazy out of any range band while it moves. With both the HMG and the healer there, you pose some tough questions - do you try against the HMG, who can dunk on just about anyone, or the healer, who can do objectives and heal the other two, or the data tracker, who will score hard at game end? It's also a team that is great at turn 3 hail mary plays, despite the slowness. I really like the small links for Bakunin.
That's funny. Cause that's very close to something I've run. Except the multi Moira is the EM LGL/ multi Moira. Backed up by pitchers* and hackers/ FO it's quite tasty. *For the white noise. FO is more incase spec shots are a viable strategy in the game.... Well that and mines. Love Zeros.
I played against a list with two EM LGL moiras and it was disgusting. Actually, every model had some sort of E/M weapon... very disturbing. I want to try the EM LGL as soon as I get off my Limited Insertion kick.
It's funny. A Moira list done right will have their biggest weakness be fellow camo. Cause any MSV should be screwed over by all the white noise being thrown out. I ran a Moira link with custodier haris and two transductor in a ten man group and it was quite efficient. Lack of cover over the board and lack of MSV was it's only real weakness. But smart placement did alot to compensate. Repeaters and pitchers meant i could always throw down white noise if i wanted to.
Hardcore observance lists like that are scary in some ways (shoot everyone, never die) but there is like, zero recovery if something bad happens. Outside of 400 points, where a Kusanagi-led team is absolutely glorious, I find that less is more.
