This thread is a try at providing useful links to whatever could be considered as a painting help resources but not tutorials. I'll try to update this post with your suggestions. EDIT: First post is now referencing the followings posts where informations are split by sections Charts / References / Lists and Online Tools Android Mobile Applications iOS Mobile Applications
Charts / References / Lists - Online Tools Charts / References / Lists Paint Color Comparison Chart : Thanks to @jherazob mention, this spreadsheet seems to be the most exhaustive compilation of equivalence references compilation and post processing sorted per vendors ranges when it comes to tabletop paints. Very mini oriented it may lacks some famous brands used by modellers, but you already have more than enough to convert this last painting tutorial recipes you want to reproduce with your paints collection. Redgrimm Paint conversion Page Pretty much the same thing with less range and html format. The default page shows equivalence of the Citadel range to other brands but you can choose other brand to convert from. I really like the way it shows how close a paint is to its equivalent. Dakka-Dakka Paint Range Compatibility Chart Certainly the most known equivalence chart on the web. Urban's Colors Reference Charts Part I & Part II An historical oriented reference chart really useful when you're into real life army modelling but provides both army schemes references which can be used for / be adapted to / inspire your Infinity schemes and covers model paint ranges. Chrispy's Ethnic Skintones paints reference form the CMON forum (suggested by @Section9) (CMON forum link dead, if it's somewhere else on it let me know)) Archived version can be found here (just in case thanks to @jherazob) PDF archived version here Re-sorted version of the paints list made by @MoB-of-blondes Camopedia (found on Bureau Aegis) The camouflage wiki referencing official camos and more (movie camos, civilian camos...) Online Tools Perry Frazer's Infinity Painter The Infinity paint scheme creator tool every Infinity painter knows thanks to Perry Frazer. I host it but I'm not the developer, so I can't help to maintain/upgrade it. Tartan Maker (found on Bureau Aegis, link updated thanks to @Wizzy) Want to create your own clan's tartan ? TinEye Labs' Color Extraction Tool (found on Bureau Aegis) Analyse a picture to provide the main colour palette. Random color scheme generator (from Bureau Aegis via @Wizzy)
Android Mobile Applications Hobby Color Converter (Free/Premium 1,19€/Subcriber 3,59€ per year) My personal favorite. Really useful to keep track of your paint collection(wide selection of ranges) and to prepare your shopping list for your next FLGS visit. The equivalence tools has been recently upgraded so you know when it's an official vendor equivalence. Kit inventory. Mainly for model rather than minis but work with it too as you can create your own content. Colorator: use your phone camera to find a similar color. Color scheme: keep track of the colors used for a model/army The Premium version remove the small ad banner from the free version and grant 20 inventory entries instead of 10. The Subscriber option grant unlimited kit entries. Very frequently updated. Include a scale/measure conversion tool and a poll tool to get the users feedback (frequently renewed). Dev is very reactive. No need to pay the premium version to use every features but as the price is really small, I paid for it to support the dev. 24 paint brands and 4 Standards (plenty of sub ranges) Now support multi-language (works at least in french) Spoiler: Brand/Range list (February 2025) Abteilung 502 Aero Color AKAH AK Interactive Alclad II AMMO MIG Andrea Color Apple Barriel Army Painter British Standard Citadel Federal Standard Formula P3 Green Stuff World Gunze Hataka Humbrol Italeri Lifecolor MRP Mission Models Monkey MP Que Bacan! I really prefer the HCC's interface but pR has somme really interesting feature of its own: Scan paint's bar-code: easy way to add a paint to the collection RapidScan (Premium version only): useful when you come back home with a full bag of paints Sets (or recipes), limited in the free version: allow you to keep track of the paint list you use for a paint scheme. Allow to add some notes to the list color tools: a one interface-multi use color tool set. Just choose a color from the paints list, by selecting a zone with your camera or by setting RGB values and you'll get for it: match complementary analogous triad More ranges than HCC (including Createx, Green Stuff World, Liquitex ...) range list can be customised to hide those you don't care about Spoiler: Brand/Range list (February 2025) Abteilung 502 Aero Color AK Interactive Alclad II AMMO MIG Jimenez Andrea Color Apple Barrel (Plaid) Archive-X Army Painter Battlefront (Colours of War) Citadel Citadel Classic Coat d'Arms Colour Forge Createx Cuttlefish Colors (Cephalopod Studios) CVLTCRAFT (CPOP) Darkstar DecoArt Delta Ceramcoat (Plaid) DirtyDown Folk Art (Plaid) Forge World FREAKflex (Badger) FW Inks (Daler-Rowney) Gaianotes Garage Kits.US Golden Green Stuff World Hataka Huge Miniatures Humbrol Instar Italeri Jo Sonja's Kimera Kolors Lifecolor Liquitex MetalSmith (Badger) Mindtaker Miniatures Minitaire (Badger) Mission Models Model Masters Molotow Mr. Hobby Mr. Paint Nocturna NuWorlds (Iwata-Medea) P3 (Privateer Press) Pactra Pokorny (Dwarven Forge) Pro Acryl (Monument Hobbies) Reaper Revell Scale Modellers Supply Scale75 Secret Weapon Stynylrez (Badger) Tamiya Testors TTCombat Turbo Dork Two Thin Coats Vallejo Villainy Ink (The Grimdar's Compendum) Warcolours Wargames Foundry Winston & Newton Colour Wheel (Free) Basic color wheel tool, just choose the setting you want (complementary, triad ...) then rotate it. Maybe a bit basic for experienced artists but simple enough for the average me. Combine Colors (Free) Mostly the same as the previous one but with hue intensity. Still really easy tu use. Citadel Paint (Free) (suggested by @kesharq) Covers Inventory & buying list, gives examples on how to achieve different colors/effects using dry-brushing and layering techniques. Also examples of painted models shown (of course just GW models). Downside is the App just covers Citadel colors. Impcat (3,59€) (suggested by @jherazob ) - BETA "impcat (short for Interactive Miniature Painting Catalogue) is a simulator for photorealistic painting results on gaming and tabletop miniatures. This tool gives you a variety of miniature images that you can select and then paint with colours you own or perhaps wish to purchase. It works with predefined colour palettes, using names and values as promoted by their manufacturers. To achieve a high quality result the system simulates a four step painting process: Base colouring, layering, shading and highlighting." More details on how it works can be found on the developer's site. Subreddit's is here. Brushrage (Free) English/Spanish/German Project oriented app including pretty much anything someone can need. I didn't use it so far because I find it recently and I have basic uses like paint library but I may give it a deeper try in the future. Features included so far : Documentation Project management including paint and time tracking To do list Collections management Bits, kits and builds management (sprue samples can be seen here) How-to : allow you to create recipes and step by step guides Charts : numbers about your entries in the app for those who can't help but measure things Colours Paint inventory (paints you own) Whishlist / Order (paints) My mixes Sets (recipes and sets management including categories) Library (paints ranges referenced in the app) Swatches : allow reference pictures storage and management Also the app contains a very complete documentation to use it. I find it a bit expensive compared to other apps with similar features but that's just my opinion (at least Premium Gold is just an extra tip for supporters who want to pay more has it only provides additional themes). I have no idea if the gamut masking is worth it but the idea is interesting. Paint are also categorised by type (Layer / Wash / Primer), application type (Brush / Airbrush / Spray can) and metallics which could be useful for some. iOS Mobile Applications Model Colors (Free) (shown by a friend) Seems pretty much the most complete app I've seen so far in term of paint ranges. Beside the usual collection/shopping list and color equivalence, it allow to store recipes and personal color mixes. It also provide a "My Model" feature that not only allow to keep track of your collection but also to add pic of those. Color recipe tracking is intuitive and can be reused for another project (i.e. leather...). Color inventory, barcode scanning, integrated color wheel, you can add pics of your minis to a recipe. I use Citadel Paint on Android - covers Inventory & buying list, gives examples on how to achieve different colors/effects using drybrishing and layering techniques. Also examples of painted models shown (of course just GW models). Downside is the App just covers Citadel colors.
I'd like to add the absolutely epic CMON 'Painting Ethnic Skintones' article: http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1310-ethnic-skintones Not a paint-comparison app, but a godsend for anyone trying new skin colors. All references are for Vallejo Model Color.
You will love this reprocess I did with that article: http://www.data-sphere.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=19430
Thanks for mentioning it. A friend of mine showed to me a few weeks ago as he printed what he called his cheat-book based on this. As I'm not a skin painter I didn't asked where he found it, now I know ;). Thanks for pinning it.
"Very nice! I should comment on it..." *Scrolls down* "...I already did, as usual i'm faster than me..." And i still haven't done the Paintrack sets i mentioned there. Procrastination has me...

Potential one, a phone/tablet app: Impcat. Here's on Android, and here's on Apple. It's a paint scheme simulator, takes a bit to get used to but i like it, gets good results. It's not free but 3.59€ is not much. It comes only with a very small library of models and paint lines, but there's a slowly growing community library of figures and paint lines that can be easily added (you just drop them on a folder and start the app), and documentation on how to make your own SVGs, so somebody dedicated with some knowledge could add Infinity minis, or at the very least the ones on the Infinity Painter web app. The main communication hub seems to be the subreddit, one of the maintainers/devels manages it so that's the place to keep in mind, specially for new figures/mods/etc.
