Hey all. Forgive my presumption here (especially given Gen Con is, what? Five months away?) I've just been idly musing as to what the release may be this year. This is in large part due to the release of Spiral Corps/FRRM-ing of Vanilla Tohaa in combination with other news, both from recent videos revolving around Daedalus' Fall & also from those recorded for satellite tournaments previously. Here's what I've taken from them so far: Spiral Corps is it for Tohaa for the moment. There will be new releases that may be used in Vanilla, but Vanilla itself will not be redesigned for some time. Shasvastii are redesigned & will be released soon (hopefully more info is on the way, including pics of the new minis). Ramah is in the book with some new units, but (at least according to opinions on the forums) the Red Veil/Vanilla Haqq starter is essentially the Ramah starter as well. The final two armies released in DF are NA2, likely meaning a mix of units from one or more factions along with Mercs. This leaves me puzzled as to the contents of a Gen Con pack (if indeed it is to be a two player pack). My best guess is half would be Shasvastii, the usual starter set plus one box-specific model. As for the other half though? I'm kind of stumped. I could of course be totally off with my absolute pure speculation & it may not be a two player box at all, so.........what do we think?
A 2 player box was mentioned in the 'Whats coming in 2019' article they had a while ago. Shasvastii is probably a shoe in for one side, the other would have to be either Tohaa or an NA2 army.
Also according to Bostria in today's video. The Gen Con box has been consistently referred to as a Battle Pack, which is CB's Catergory for the "Operation: Whatever" boxes.
Tohaa would have been perfect fit against the Shasvastii, and I still hold out hope that it will still be Tohaa vs Shasvastii. But I could also see it being Shasvastii vs NA2. Basically units that are used in multiple NA2 armies could fill out the other half. Brawlers would have been my first pick from that list if they didn't have a release happening now along with two from books. Then again this could be Shasvastii vs some other new alien race that just happens to look more human because people don't like buying alien looking aliens for some reason.
I want it also, but I don't belive it. My guess is just a Shasvastii Starter, a big Shasvastii box, or a Shasvastii VS some NA2 (but I thought it was too soon for another 2-player box).
It's sooner than usual, yeah. But they mentioned it here: 613-what-will-2019-bring-from-corvus-belli (Battle Pack is the terminology they use for the Operation:Weather or Colour boxes) 'Corvus Belli puts the Battle Pack at the disposal of the players, starter boxes designed for 2 players that contain everything necessary to start playing Infinity. Learn to play our wargame in an easy and simple manner, discovering our fantastic miniatures, as well as the dynamism and balance of the game.'
If it is generic NA2 vs Shas (using Spiral as the obvious thematic focus) what would be put in it though? Other than Brawlers (AVA 4 in the ones we already have and the new SWC box makes that unlikely) there isn't much that overlaps between the different NA2s.
I'm guessing he means more like the Vanilla one than Spiral. If that were the case though it would seem odd to even bother noting that starter going out of production.
It will be Shashvastii Vs....Shashvastii! They infiltrated too deeply into the sphere and ended up attacking one of their own detachments which was deep undercover, ruining an operation they had been working on for years!
Given that there's a blue N at gencon, I think it's shas vs. something we don't know about yet. I think the smart money is it'll be NA2, but I'd be shocked if it was a tohaa force. Could also be corporate powers, which haven't been brought up as of yet.
Doesn't it say somewhere that Spiral Corps is the anti-Shasvastii unit? Perhaps I imagined that, I am not sure. If I am right, Spiral Corps (NA2) vs Shasvastii (CA) seems more natural than most other two player boxes.
Carlos has said as much yes. I think that's the reason for that speculation. it works on paper, but harder to pull off when you look at the details. Mainly what would be in it?
