I know, right? The true reason is probably somethig convoluted involving a blindfolded drunk Interruptor throwing darts around and accidentally erasing half the sectorial lists, and then being forced to make them up as he goeas along.
I must admit I was expecting him there too and had to triple check the unit list for him. Or maybe he'll be whipping the Kums and Hunzakuts into shape in Gaqbar. *corrected!
That's pretty much the only extreme cost saving measure CB hasn't used much or to its fullest potential. Probably because depending on one single Inspiring Leadership Lt does actually have downsides, unlike linked Frenzy/Impetuous and giving away sumachinguns with every happy meal. Gaqbar.
Caledonians would like to have a word with you;) But Saladins doesnt have inspiring leadership...otherwise Vanilla would be the most OP thing ever^^
Caledonians don't save too many points, since they have a non-impetuous, AVA T, 6 point regular order anyway in the Volunteer. PanO barely does because they have almost no irregulars. Hunzakuts and Kums, on the other hand, would allow the player to exploit Inspiring Leadership to its fullest, by providing a 10 points regular Chain Rifle Kum which is pure evil incarnate and cheaper than all Haqq Line Troops.
I want to say i'm quite pleased with what has been revealed so far. This release is meeting my expectations much better than IA did, and I'm actually excited to put this army on the table. Some first impressions: Something else the Khawarij bring to the table to differentiate them from the Mukhtar is an HRL and linkable impact templates shouldn't be undervalued. It doesn't make them an auto include, but it does give them different value, so i don't think it's as cut and dry as Mukhtar overshadow and are superior full stop. I'm very curious what the Naffatun special fireteam rule is going to be, because unless they're adding new profiles, i'm not sure why you'd ever take a link of them. I could see adding them to other links, but a core of Naffatun seems silly. In a similar vein, i'm also curious to know who the Maggy and Al Fasid will be teaming up with. Thus far, the only thing that really disappoints me is the Zhayedan. They'v been under performing in vanilla since they were revealed and I thought their saving grace was going to be joining links as wild cards or special options, and it doesn't look like they'll be getting that. Consider: a basic Janissary is 36 points, a basic Kwhawarij is 27 points, basic Mukhtar is 30 points. They're all BS 13 gunfighters. The Zhayedan is a BS12 gunfighter and the basic profile is 31 points. The new Jannisary sniper is superior in almost every way to the Zhayedan sniper and only cost 5 points more. I have no idea why you'd ever take a core of these over Janissaries or Ghulam or even Khawarij. I mean, maybe to have a core link of veterans in a limited insertion list with an aggressive Lt? I guess we'll see what the haris profile has, but again, why would you use your haris slot on these guys when you could have a Mukhtar or Khawarij haris instead? Maybe some sort of defensive, two sniper aro formation? I don't really see it because they're very fragile for their points.cost, but I guess time will tell. Still, as I said before, it's a small dark spot on an otherwise shining release and realistically it's not even that bad. All in all I'm going to say good job for this one.
They dont save points, but they get full regular order pools despite using smoke throwing warbands. Thats awesomely good and it uses that rule to a very high grade. PanO gets 3 which is decent enough imho. 10 points regular Kum would be really good. I have always thought that they might get regular in the Khanate, because CB released 5 Kums which would fit a core team and only regular troops can link.
Agreed here. I'm eying that HRL more and more. I just have a feeling a couple ghulam ML will do the trick just as well for about the same cost. Super jump with that template is awesome, and I murdered some tohaa with it this weekend, but I still don't know if it is a top choice. I don't think many things like this are cut and dry in Infinity. What I'm saying is that the mukhtar puts up stiff competition because, well, it does. As a khawarij fanboy, I wanted them to be literally the best. We don't, (and shouldn't), always get what we want. Agreed on everything you're saying here. I'll likely run the Akbar in a lot of lists, but i don't see making a whole team very often ... BUT! A team of Jans and Tarik might be frighteningly hard to remove ...
You know, as far as MSV2 options go, I'd pick Mk12 Khawarij over Mukhtar, just because of the pure strength and vertical mobility.
If Sally is with the biker gangs and not with Ramah, I will straight up mail Carlos a turd in a box. Kind of depends on the quality of your opponents shootiness IMO. The Khawarij can get more interesting attack vectors but the Mukhtar can cop a failed F2F or a crit without eating dirt.
Agreed. Plus having the combo of mimetism and msv2 makes him more broadly applicable as a shooter. Although I agree trading off 3 damage is something to consider Edit: Unrelated but something I noticed. Nasmats are AVA4, and I look forward to running a ghulam doctor with the equivalent of a repeater network of healing
I'm stoked for an msv2 vanilla list. A mk12 or 3 A Djan HMG and Sniper or SMR MSV2 Mukhtar Ghazi Kum Looks like a headache to face and a blast to play!
Maybe I'm just a sucker for HI links, but something like Haqqislam ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 HORTLAK JANISSARY SMG, Blitzen/ Pistol, CCW. (0 | 28) HORTLAK JANISSARY SMG, Blitzen / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 28) JANISSARY Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 31) JANISSARY Akbar Doctor (MediKit) AP Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 41) JANISSARY HMG / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 36) 2 SWC | 168 Points Open in Infinity Army Has some appeal to me as an aggressive move up the table link. While it's not the most optimal thing, I feel like it's definitely a better use of the points than something like this Haqqislam ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 ZHAYEDAN Doctor Plus (MediKit) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) ZHAYEDAN (Marksmanship L2) Breaker Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 31) ZHAYEDAN (Marksmanship L2) Breaker Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 31) ZHAYEDAN (Marksmanship L2) Breaker Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 31) ZHAYEDAN HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) 1.5 SWC | 152 Points Open in Infinity Army Either way, it's hard to beat the versatility and efficiency of the classic Ghulam core, but then few things do. I love Leila, but not not being forced to take her as a tax like you do in Bahram makes the Ghulam even more appealing and frankly they're going to be the core in the majority of my lists because how can you argue with this? Haqqislam ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 GHULAM Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 16) GHULAM Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 16) GHULAM Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 17) GHULAM Doctor Plus (MediKit) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) GHULAM Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) 2.5 SWC | 77 Points Open in Infinity Army :
Yeah, that's fun. Those could also act as a sort of active turn Crazy Koalas, if someone gets too close, lol. Just run Nasmat at your foes and immobolize them, why not? You got 3-5 more Nasmats.
I think I agree about Zhayedans. Joining Ghulams would have been great, but MM2 vs Hortlak MSV1/Mimetism/NWI +5 pts is in the latter's favor; he's like a pseudo-Knauf. I still think I'm favoring the Mukhtar in my head for MSV2 high burst duties since I've never found I've gotten good mileage from Super Jump, if only due to much higher survivability. As far as mobility is concerned, MOV 6-2 might get him angles as good as Super Jump and still keep cover a lot of the time. The fire template for Khawarijs might be a point in their favor, but as @oldGregg said, linked Ghulam ML could have similar effect. If the only other HRL in the army is on the Al-Fasid, it might be requisite versus Tohaa, but then again, there are still a lot of question marks for new/revamped profiles.
Wow. This is a sectorial that was worth the wait! Like everyone else, I'm in love with the new supersoldiers and I am excited to see how all of these special fireteams work out. Two Maggie seems insanely expensive, but who doesn't want to run two Scorpion tanks?! I've already added another TAG to my wish list. Some random things ghts that I haven't seen discussed yet: 1) As amazing as the profiles are, I don't love the Mukhtar concept art. RTF had a pretty clear aesthetic with Khawarij and Zhayedan that these guys and gals don't really fit into. I'll probably just run Zhayedan as proxies. Like everyone else, I love the Zhayedan models and can't stand the profiles. This may be the best of both worlds. 2) Viral weapons! Hyper-Dynamics level 2! These are the things we were hoping for from the masters of biotechnology. I know we've been considering Mukhtar as Haris attack pieces, but the Viral Rifle Mukhtar could be great to pop into suppressive fire as a tough little speedbump. And the Namur dodging on 18s is going to be remarkably difficult to bring down. I think she'll be a great late game objective grabber. 3) Jannisaries were kind of expected and could be great, especially with the veterans bringing the cost down. The CoC Hortlak seems almost stapled to Tarik and I'm glad we have another place to use the Akbar. @Errhile recently tried out RTF and said the sectorial needed more staying power. Well now we havw it.
Btw...I just realized, that the Nahab also have ".... Supersoldier Progam" written on their unit symbol like the Mukhtar and Namurr. So we can expect interestings things from them:-D
